If any of you are ever in Ireland, then you must check out this hotel. Our nephew gave us a gift of a two night break at Lough Eske Castle Hotel, in Donegal along with two spa treatments and evening dinner. The hotel is the lap of pure luxury, deep pile feather beds, aromatheraphy, strawberry dacquiris, open hearth fires, haute cuisine, swimming pool...You get the picture? Yea.. I don't want to leave! I had a massage and facial yesterday which was pure bliss.. Paddy, your the best! Thanks so much.
Today we are driving over to the folk village museum in Glencolmcille to say hello to the little people :)
I had an audit and a meeting down near Dublin on Saturday, so we decided to stay Saturday night there so we could go to the RDS to see the holiday exhibition. We got loads of ideas for vacation this year, and it looks like it is going to be in Italy..Rome in for a first hot favourite, but that could change ;)
We got some good freebies! And now a first for me.. I had an eagle sitting on my shoulder! IT WAS HUGE.. never thought they were the size of a turkey! Hubby took a photo, but it didnt come out and I only noticed when we were heading up the motorway home. Gosh, was I cheesed about that!
Still we had a good time.. And we have another short trip coming up soon.. It's a special one, which I am really, really looking forward too! I lurveeee Christmas gifts like that ;) Thanks Paddy x

Glad you're back safe :-)
I'm away again... Oh my gosh you should this hotel! It's out of the world!
Pearl Harbour and 9/11 two major invasions of the United States of America. . I wonder how American's view them. Is one worse than the other?
COMMENTS
I see 9/11 as worse as the attack was on civilians . At least Pearl Harbor was against the military .
9/11 hits close to home because I'm a New Yorker and was a borough away from the twin towers when it happened.
I agree with Radu- both were equally horrific, but 9/11 was just an unjustified attack against people who had nothing to do with any of that- they were just going about their lives. And 9/11 to me had a much more extensive ripple effect. Military or not, it touched everybody everywhere in the states.. Either you were somebody in the mess, knew someone in the mess, knew someone close to it, or, like I did, had someone put back into active duty because of it. One way or the other, everybody in America felt that.
I'd have to say 9/11, as it was not a military act during wartime.
Both incidents suck though.
Pearl Harbour.
Then again, my aunt was there. I heard first had how horrific it was. And it was not during "war time", it was what prompted the US TO war. Over all it shaped how WW2 ended and at the time, was a major chord because it was the first time this century that the US was invaded, (technically Canada / Great Britain invaded in the war of 1812).
2,402 killed
1,247 wounded
9/11 for different reasons. It is recent. It has a direct effect on our consciousness as we "lived through it". It was sensationalized in the media, and it has lead to our government making choices that have effected the global economy.
Interestingly it only has a few hundred more casualties than Pearl Harbor, which given the reach (beyond New York) and the attempt of havoc is rather amazing (one would have thought it would be much more than what it is).
Killed 2,996
Injured More than 6,000
Yet still, it is far less than most other war zones. What impresses me, is how much we take for granted.
This is ridiculous. Please stop using what I have personally achieved to add fuel to your fire.
Oh, the things a girl has to do to get a strawberry diaquiri .. I have to go and sit through a 'gangster movie' first in order to 'earn' one! >>

Hahaha! You poor thing :P
Damn girl...Bypass the bullshit!
Don't you have a well-stocked bar at home?
Mum keeps talking about when she's better of all the things she is going to do . She doesn't know she is not going to get better. It just about breaks my heart.

Hard to believe Vampire Rave is coming up to nine years old. I remember sitting for hours on end looking for links way prior to the Forum even been formed , that it seems only a short time back, never mind nine years! But there you are, this is where we are at now. Amazon development right?

Today is having a kick start with a 45 minute spin session..yay, drilled by Anna who comes over more like an army major than a spin instructor! It is always good for a laugh during the session anyway! Later, I get to see my Mum and we have guests over for dinner :) yipeee.. good day ahead :)

First day back at work, and I finished it with a smile on my face. How, come they can't all be like that! The rest of January and February are relentess with no weekends off..Jebus, hasn't anyone heard of the word RECESSION!
Spent another two hours in the gym today...1 hour of core and 1 hour of aerobics that included spin. Good to be getting back into things again :)
COMMENTS
You went back to work on a Friday and then used the word 'recession'!!! lol - I just found that amusing was all! ;-)
Heh ..yes I guess so. Still work made me smile because yesterday there was four people plus me working in my office ..all due to the efforts of my own hard work and vision. I am not meaning to blow my own trumpet but it took years of hard work and sheer determination to get to the stage where I could allow myself to start work on a Friday!
Back home and straight down the gym. Did an hour of weights and core with Steve. I must say, that's the 4th session in seven days so it's not so good. Starting my 2013 gym routine with a blast didn't seem to work, what with everything that happened including the flu.
Have Steve at 4pm tomorrow for a hour,,then I will do a 45 minute spin after. Looking forward to working of the Christmas carbs.
What fabulous weather we got for our break in Dublin! Sun!!! Ee spent the morning taking photos which I will share with you all on our return. Yay for sunshine!
Tomorrow things should return to normal and hopefully this flu will be all gone. It's going to be a slow return to work for me but I am starting back tomorrow by updating my CPD logs at both my professional bodies. Boring to be sure, but essential.
Mum remains ill, my sister is out of her mind with grief, so it will be good for me to focus my thoughts on something different.
On a different note, I love spa but have to make an effort to go there, so I was looking at some pretty nifty home spas with sauna, whirlpool and steam room. Gosh, what would I do to have one of those!
When the sun shines in Ireland, I am inclined to be outdoors as it only happens on rare occasions. Except for the unusual heat wave we had last year in March, I can't recall seeing the sun shine again. I long for one of those blue sky, sun shining days..and of course a dose of vitaim D. Kids in Ireland must have a serious deficiency of that.
COMMENTS
Shudders.......no sunny days? I would be in a constant state of depression....:(
Emmy turns green with envy...
We had sunshine today for all of two mins, but then again this is England :-(
That said it has remained very mild ... prob why so many people are down with colds and the flu!
I love the sun but not all maltese do. They dont realise what luck we have.
It has been a long time since I cooked a Sunday lunch, so I got a sirloin roast in the village butchers earlier this afternoon. Hubby is looking forward to it a lot.. He loves when I cook a 'real meal' as he calls it. I got some red roosters, those potatoes roast so well and will be a good side, along with the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding.
I know he also loves my baked rice pudding with sultanas.. So, I intend to surprise him with that after, and I have the grains marinating in milk, hidden at the back of the fridge already :). Steeping the grains in milk softens the rice therefore making it softer and more succulent to eat. :)
So, here's to Sunday lunch :)
COMMENTS
you should've cook some "bird" hehehe
Lol Serenity! Hawk is a bit overdone by now. Mind you Easter is coming up, so how about some rabbit! Rabitt!
That sounds amazing!!!
It does sound yummy!
I am just home from the funeral yesterday morning. It really was a sad affair... So, tired.

Way to start the new year huh.
Chin up sweetie.
AAAAWWW HUGS sweetie, I'm sorry

Thanks
I took down my Christmas decorations today, and when looking at my cards I counted that only 10 of the 54 cards received were charity cards. It was pleasing to note that all cards sent from VR were recognised charity cards. I think it is a good idea that if people are going to send cards to make sure a charity benefits rather than lining the pockets of someone that may not give a darn.
Favourite charities chosen in 2012 were for Cancer Research and to help children. Two of the closest to my heart :)
Well, that was a shock start to the new year. I wonder how many of us have made resolutions this year? I think one thing I have in mind, is to make more time for family and loved ones. :)
Wishing whoever reads this; peace, love and happiness in 2013.
COMMENTS
I agree with making more time for family and friends. I need to also make more time for myself lol. I told my friend that I wished for more hours in the day. She laughed and said that we would just work more.
I'm so sorry for your loss, love. If I can do anything, don't hesitate to ask.
Your "family" online is here if you need us.
we make time for everyone, we make promises for everyone, I decided to make time for me, and promises for me, because I want it, not to please others.
its a first, as I always had put others before me, thinking it was selfish to put myself first once in a while, then I realized it was not, it was only human.
-hugs-
