I'm not familiar with social networks. I tried Facebook a few years ago, but quickly gave up. And then another network that wanted to be "completely different". It was based on a non-profit association (I don't know what the correct name is in English) and was quickly abandoned.
There seem to be certain different rules than in offline life.
I was very irritated here by the many one-word posts that I thought were completely meaningless. But after I took part, just to support my level a bit, I have to realize that you also learn a lot about the people by doing so. Maybe even more than writing long letters.
This is a very surprising finding for me.

There used to be a lot more long discussions in the main forums, people just do not participate like they used to.

Today will be exactly two weeks that I've been at VR.
I learned a lot and leveled up relatively quickly. I can no longer call myself "new". 😉
I also had to realize that the attempt to raise my level had developed its own dynamic and had taken on a life of its own. Now I also understand the many one-word posts that had so irritated me at the beginning. Now I'm one of those who do that too.
But after level 50 it gets progressively harder to level up anyway and I hope I can get my focus back on what I came here for.

Sometimes I'm still a little kid.
And as naive as a baby.
When I registered here, it never occurred to me that non-members could see anything.
At some point I asked myself who was online at the moment. And I was surprised that 100 times as many people watch anonymously as are logged in.
And today I wanted to know what these people see. And was amazed that they actually see everything that members can see.
I was even able to see completely anonymously who left comments in my journal.
A very strange feeling! It felt like I was watching myself through a keyhole.
I am a person who pays great attention to his privacy and prefers not to reveal anything about himself. As a first reaction, I didn't want to write anything in the journal or profile anymore. But then I realized that there is practically no difference between the anonymous viewers and the members here in terms of information about me. The only difference is that the members have decided to leave an e-mail address for the administrators here and have a profile, which may well have been entirely their own imagination. And of course I was aware of that when I registered here.

It's the same as someone watching me with binoculars in my apartment. Not my problem if he doesn't like me. But if no one is watching me, then there is no one who might like what they see.

Today I have read interesting thoughts about feeding vampires and the need for strange food by ElderDaniel by answering a question in his profil.

But the most interesting question for me is: do I need a special food for my soul?

As I wrote in the stories under "Sometimes online time is not counted", I went from level 15 to 25 in a single day.
But it was very exhausting, quite boring and lasted 11 hours. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Especially since I'm now under the supervision of the admins, my account is flagged for allegedly breaking the rules. Of course, I had no way of clarifying anything.
After I found my way around VR somewhat, I also wanted to say something and edited two or three posts. In more than two hours.
At level 15 that would mean almost 2 levels up, so I was surprised that absolutely nothing had changed. That made me curious.
First I asked on the help page and got an explanation of how the status is calculated. I knew that, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. Just so I could better explain what I mean, I tested it out more closely.
It struck me that at this level it is easiest to increase the status with page views.
And that's exactly what I did.
I don't want to tempt anyone into getting into the same trouble, so I won't explain it further here. Just this much: I simply repeated certain actions quickly.
Most importantly, I would never have bothered if I wasn't so frustrated with the admin's reaction, because it was really exhausting. But I just wanted compensation for the online time that was not calculated.

Well, I overcompensated for that. 🙂

Well, I had to get that out of the way to calm myself.
And having done that, I just got word that the issue has been escalated to Cancer.
That's what it was really about for me. I wanted to point out that there is a problem.

I found a workaround for myself: I simply refresh the editor page after each written thought.

My behavior was silly.
These repeating clicks were silly. Obviously the system has it ignored. Now I have reached more than half page viewes in the half time.
That means I have not inflated my status but slowed it down.
