Went to see Dark Shadows with the gals, then a late lunch. It was fun, we don't seem to all get together as much as we use to.

As far as the movie- I wasn't impressed. After reading so much I went into it thinking it would be sort of Dumb and Dumber, vampire style.

It wasn't. Sure it has a few jokes, but if you have seent he TV ad for it- there you go.

And at the last few minutes they threw in several different story lines. Kind of like a man pulling off his skin, showing a woman as he yells out at you "But I am your cousin's great great Aunt. Not your father."

With no time left to explain or at least talk about the story lines they filled the last of the movie with...

I don't know if I would even waste the dollar to rent this out of a RedBox.

That's exactly how I feel about that movie too. Also, the lady who is his love interest seems to disappear for a good portion of the home. It's like they didn't know what parts of a much bigger story to cram into one movie.

Vampirewitch39
Vampirewitch39
16:27 May 28 2012

Yes Otter- it is like they didn't pick a story line and go with it. It was just full of this and that. It had it's funny parts, but they threw in revenge, hate, lost love, death, greed, supernatural, etc.

Way too many threads, and it ended up being lost.

Had to go back to work to unload a few trucks, and got a few phone calls.

Yesterday I walked into the office to a message from my sister a military carrier called and wanted a rate to take 1,500 lbs *this is 2 crates so that is a straight job truck with two men* Trick is the delivery is 87 miles away. So 160 miles, estimated the time for unload *by me* and loading onto the truck *by me*, then the two men driving, a hour to unload, then drive back, burning the crates= 6 hours, with fuel.

I priced it at $ 520.00

Seems they wanted to pay $190.00. Insulted me, saying they could not pay that- they can go to $225.00. I said have fun delivering it yourself. "But we are in California." Then maybe you shouldn't of went online, took the job, sitting behind that desk with a phone and expect everyone else to do the fucking work for nothing. "Sorry- but I am not working for nothing, losing money for you. Call someone else."

And they act all stun that 'no one wants to work anymore'.

I learned my lesson on prepay on these folks, just as I have learned my lesson on not losing money.

The phone call I got just now was to inform me the 10,000 lbs I priced for delivery over a month ago- and told I was way over priced- is coming in, and the check was in the mail. Thanks for doing the delivery.

Also= the 2nd largest Kentucky mover, AA Arnold, who is a national mover. They closed out the Lexington company, and now seems they are closing the Louisville agent. They sent out emails with info on the equipment they are selling.

Times are changing for a lot of movers it seems.

Just jumping on to ask someone a qustion before I get back to house work. I am cleaning out the bookcase in my closet, and my front bedroom dresser.

Already did the work I had to do at 'work'. Then it seems the next door new rental had two dogs tied to the back porch. In this heat. My sister called me when our dog would go outside and not stop barking. She can see them and gets upset.

Now- the rental lease tells you no pets. I don't mind cats, or even a inside dog with a damage deposit *to clean the carpet, and it does cost more when a pet has been in the home.* when they leave. It is $200.00 more to have a pet in the home- flat fee.

Our family loves animals. So when sis calls to tell me those dogs are outside in the heat, chained up... got me a little steamed. So I finished work, went to knock on the door. Seems the company that is in for the weekend owned the dogs. Yes she knew she wasn't to have pets. When ask why they are outside- she said she would not let them inside. Sorry- but I will not allow them to be outside in the sun at 92 temp.

So we came up with the company taking the dogs over to her Uncles home, where he has a fence in backyard so they can be free, and have shade, and other dogs to play with.

Grrrr..... I hate seeing a dog chained up. I mean put the damn dogs inside for the weekend, and don't let the company bring them back down.

Our doggy calmed down once they left, so we are back to normal. While I was out roaming I went and looked at post that need repainted at a rental home. Guess we will start that Tuesday morning as we have but one job this week.

:(

So home, got a pie in the oven, laundry running as I clean out some things. Going over to Cat's to work on the dollhouse. We are putting the front and roof on. All that is left is setting up the cabin, using a sticky tack glue to hold things in place and it is done. If we get it finished photos will be done.

Sunday is movie, lunch with the gals.

Other then that I plan to do very little these next three days, staying close to help with Mom as sister is taking time away.

As it is to be super hot this weekend- it works out to stay in AC. ;)

Ok- back to cleaning.. dang closet isn't going to strighten, sort itself.

Music lover- Anyone know this song name/ singer??

If all we are is dust, and all we have is time

Gold will fade to rust, and hellos to good-bye

Crawling in the mud, dulling all the pain

Will we all combust, before we find a way?

Oh, Can I wake up?

Can I find a way?

Oh, I cant’ escape the cries

My heart is bleeding at the seams

When it’s all in pieces to me

You cannot calm the storm, you cannot stop the rain

But I need a miracle, to captivate the pain

It’s all too much to hold in a heart too weak to beat

When all I had is gone, with nothing here to keep

Oh, can I wake up?

Can I find a way?

When it’s all in pieces to me

When you unplug the cable internet box, and the router. Even just plug the cable direct into the laptop- and it doesn't work, when you call and after half a hour you get a person who tells you that nothing is wrong with it, showing fine on their end. When you get huffy with them it seems to all of a sudden to start working. Hmmmm

And hanging up a cell phone is no where near as good as a good old fashion hang up on a land line phone.

Judgement in the law suite for over $2,300.00 goes to ME! :D

Yes- the judge came down on my side, all the way. She gets nothing, no court cost, nothing at all.

Now I will send her the bill for the balance due of $105.00 she still owes me.

I was going to just write it off but now...

Would it be rude to type up that bill on a copy of the letter from the judge telling us I won the case? Sure she will not pay but I will enjoy knowing I sent it. :D

Oh goody! I love all of the Sherlock Holmes fims and shows.

Do you recall a pilot (NBC, I think) that looked quite promising back in the 90's? The actor who played Mr Holmes was a cutie, and the doctor was a woman. It was set in modern-day San Francisco, even though Holmes had been asleep for almost 100 years.

The show didn't even get a chance...I think that maybe it was a lil' too intelligent for the masses - lol.

Cancer has taken a few hits this last week, due to the drama around his latest updates. Say what you want but I have been trying to get onto another site I am a member of.

A site owned and ran by a web designer, mind you.

The forum pulls up "Crashed- needs repaired" along with a stream of codes.

Two weeks ago it was that way for 3 days.

It has been off line since Thursday this time.

Have you ever seen this site down longer then a few hours unless he was doing work on the site after telling you it would be offline? I haven't.

Site owners- you have those who are ontop of it and those who that just let it ride, check on it once or so a week.

Vampire Rave is always here, and that takes work on his part.

This just goes to show you,no matter how much you do for people, there are going to be those who bitch and moan about E V E R Y thing.Tough thing for them is, they feel so entitled, and it bugs the eff out of them...Or, they are doing underhanded crapp and some of the new features can expose that.

Cancer always has my vote,no matter what he puts here, and as far as everything goes overall, the features actually turn out pretty good in the long run.

AND,its obvious he works hard because VR stays up and running ,unless he is coding.Thats just one of the pluses..

I can't understand people complaining if they are getting something for free. If you pay for something you expect to have it working though... and for the seven, or coming eight years I have been around here, it is very rare to find the website down.

Regarding the latest updates, in my opinion if people are bothered for the very brief synopsis in their profile of the last fifty pages or so pages they have turned.. then if they sweat those small things, they must be a catastrophe waiting to happen in real life!

deathnitegrl

well said. This site has less bugs than others. A favorite site of mine, was on maintanance for 2 months and that's how long we couldn't log in. In 8 years of vr, such thing never happened. Even the way it is organised and moderated, it's better than others I've seen. There are some where they have similar codes, and it's like you're seeing the same site everywhere. Here it's unique and even the rules are not that bad. There are sites where even swear words are cencored. There are others where nothing is forbidden, but then it's a big disorganisation and confusion. If members on vr continue to increase there must be a reason.

Been busy at work as we get the last freight for a medical office we are putting in. Seeing a lot of the local delivery men, and some others I haven’t seen in a while. I had a Fed Ex man in with 23 TVs. As we was unloading them the UPS man pulls up. He pitched in to help us and I joked I should take a video of them working together. That is when one said “Nah- I don’t see a fence around her to pitch a clock over.” The other gave a “Ohhh.. that is how we are playing? Well I do believe your company got caught on tape doing some damage to a package.” It was all done in fun, sharing some laughter.

Then I got a driver in, having waited for the 39 desk/ office furniture delivery from Kimball Office. So he gets out and walks up to me. “You got some office furniture for me?” “I don’t think so. I got one skid.” “You don’t have the 39 pieces?” “Nope, not me.” “Then I guess you are the wrong man.” He just laughed, saying “That is not the first time I’ve been told that.”

Feels good to have busy days, from start to end of the work day. Makes it go a lot faster. Hope it keep up, stays this way.

Other news- seems the bigger moving companies are closing out the Military shipments. By the emails I gotten they are blocking out the next few months, saying they will not handle any moves but personal and corporate, aka ones that pay at least a good rate. “Due to lack of drivers and service agencies we are unable to service the DOD/ Military moves…” Guess it is hitting them that people aren’t going to work for free, if not going in debt.

I think it is bed early for me. Housework, laundry, New Moon ritual, pick up the photos from the show, and taking photos of some damage to items before Monday delivery. Lots to do, and Sunday my sister is going to visit my other sister so I am with Mom most of the day.

Telling the owner of a site how he should run it.

Calling him a tyrant because he don't hold to your whims.

Thinking he should, or could, get 23,880 members to agree to anything.

You, dear folks, have never run a business. And need to get a dose of the real world.

He owns it.

He runs it the way he sees fit.

He takes the risk.

He pays the bills, no matter if he makes anything or not.

He goes out of his way to be fair, the rules of his site are not many when you think of it.

He protects his members, when it is not just a personal "He is .." "She is.." shit.

But after reading the Facebook page I will go on a limb and add-

He will do as he wishes to his site. And will have Admins who follow his rules and that he trust.

You know perfectly well he has removed Admins who did not uphold the rules.

I don't have to be nice, or overly friendly to you. I just have to follow, and enforce his rules. Anything above that is just me being who I am.

I support Cancer and this site.

I personally like the new tools, and I support him in whatever decisions he makes and whatever he chooses to implement. Without him, we'd have no VR, and then where would we all be? People just need to be happy with what they have and stop with all the complaining and bitching about things.

Vampirewitch39

It reminds me of when folks would say Sentorans should message them with issues, not suspend them.

Cancer should spend days doing the codes, put up a test page so you can see it, then message all 23,881 members in a PM. Then answer all those questions. Wait for every member to go online, to given him the thumbs up or down.

Even then you will not please everyone.

But he should do this because you spent $24.00 for a membership that gets you so much on this site, and file storage.

Or you spent $150.00 even. People pay more for a freaking service call for a repair to a appliance. But you spent the whole $150.00 and will always have your 'space' here. A space that you can make a home or turn it into drama central.

But he should do all this work, keep tabs on all the messages and which members are for and against. Then check to make sure he got all 30,000 members votes in, how dare he leave one person out.

Just don't know why members expect any site online to give them that much power. Could you see FaceBook, VampireFreaks do that? Does any larger site online? I don't know of any.

And that is a wrap! Move went off great, the only damage was a scratch in the metal weight machine that she said she wasn't worried about it. Tip for the men, I feed them Red Lobster for a good job done.

Now I want to go to sleep. This move has been on my shoulders for over a month, since she had to keep pushing the dates back for the move.

So it is good to have it done.

Well the big move loaded better then I was thinking it would, about 3 hours less labor then I planned, for 3 men. Bad thing is the U Haul I had to rent due to the small truck I had plan to use that the motor went out-- cost me sixty dollars more then I plan due to a getting a bigger size.

Why a bigger size? Mix up on mine and the lady on the phone- but it was partly my fault. So...

We are on target.

Now to get the truck 120 miles away, and not get caught 490 lbs overweight. Safe to say that is my truck to drive. If anyone gets the ticket, it should be me. And the new driver hasn't driven a truck that heavy yet.

Pulling out of the lot at 6:00 am. :) Safe trip, unload by 3:00 pm, feed the men a good meal, then home by 5:00 pm is the plan.

With no damage.

No I did not kill it. Kitchen flipper thingy and a oven mitt. I got it out of the drawer by pulling its tail and the trap both. Still alive. I open my back door and let its tail out of the trap, flung it out of the door as I told it "Don't come back!"

Just back from the Photographic Art Show. Birdy and I are walking around, enjoying the art when I see one of mine. With a blue ribbon. 1st place!! :D

Nature - Black and White.

I turned to Birdy and touched her arm. She looked behind me and asked "Is that one yours? I haven't seen it."

See- I had the photos in the office to have on hand for when I had the time to run them to the library. I was going to put the barn photo in but it got a deep scratch on it by the ADT man, we think. Anyway- I put this photo in it's place. And it won.. 1st place!

So I was thinking- my day is made. We went on about the art show when a lady came up and asked if I was So and So. "Yes." "I have something for you." She returns with two envelopes. "You won two first place." Uhhh HUh? Seems both my photos won!! First place!! Does happy dance. I had not even seen my other one yet.

She said she was sorry, did not mean to spoil it for me. I told her no, I was just happy they put them up. :D So she lead us to the other photo, and the man who won Best of Show was in the area, asked me where I had taken the shot. Try telling people you took it in a lunatic asylum and not get looks. lol But the way he and his wife acted- I think they will make the trip.

We wonder back to look at the photos and Birdy found the food, punch. She was drinking the punch and giving a funny face, heading to the trash. I walked over toward her as she stopped. She pointed to two ladies. "They said it was interesting, the color. Did you not hear them talking about your photo?" And I hadn't. I was still stun I won. lol Tell the truth I can't tell you what the ladies said about my work- but hey--- the decay got some folks talking. :D

1st place in Architecture Color.

I won a whole $20.00 to put toward my trip back to the lunatic asylum in Sept., two more ribbons. And some kind words on my work, even the 'strange' one. :D

Be really bad if I go out there during the Opening and they not be showing.

Crowd favorites and judge's favorites are often different. The people decided which photos to enter don't always have the best "eye" for it.

The new site tool- how I see it.

Facebook, twitter. How people post about how they ate a apple, how they pissed, how they smeeled their socks and almost gagged. How they think the hair in their nose is growing so long. How they had painted dots on their hot pink fingernails. Those stupid post that no one really cares to read but maybe a ten year old child.

That is the new site tool for me. I have to go to your profile to see this info... and trust me when I say I don't care. :)

Well that went.. alright I guess. The judge was one I did not know, but he seemed nice. He listen to her complaints, then my own answers to her issues.

Give and take, her photos of her furniture showing no white powder, just worn seats and the stains on her arm and the place where the back of her head hit it.

She did not bring up the 14 year old boy that she said I sent, which is 21.

She did not bring up how the carpet was not laid, or how the apartment wasn't ready to move into. But I did.

She did not bring up the mold, the reason she said she was moving to us, and how it was on her furniture. But I did.

She said we was rude, and the man with me who was on the job said she was rude also. Point each.

Judge said he would review the case and we would recieve something in the mail. Now that is new. Of course I am use to rental cases, due rent or damage to the location. I am use to getting the decision then and there, while both of us are facing him.

Guess we will wait and see,.

Had lunch with Mom for Mother's Day. Sis and brother and us- what family we have left.

My other sisters was a no show. One I expect as she lives in another state, and has not been home but a hand full of times in 20 years.

Then the other sister who lives a hour away it is always something or another= long story she never showed. She is to been here as I have the court case Monday, and need my sister to go with me. If that happen- not holding my breath let's say.

Mom spent the day talking about cattle that she worried about out on the farm. Of course we don't have cattle on the farm, have not in my lifetime. She seems to be getting lost more and more to us.

But today, as always, I am grateful for her.

Seems I have found a peace of late. I think it is because I am making time, the effort it takes, to do rituals once more. I always felt I had a connection to the gods, but it seems stronger with the rituals.

I also decided to go one last time to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in WV. For my birthday even. Yes- 8 hours of climbing up the stairs of 30 floors, and walking over 4 miles of hallways. It is now or never, went two years ago and I have wanted to go back since. But this time I am staying the night after the tour, so I will have more time to do the tour, and not worry about the 5 hour drive still to come when I get done.

Cat said she would go with me again, sure she can enjoy the time away. And instead of the car to sit in and wait for me, she can rest at the hotel.. the nice silent hotel room. It is a win win for both of us- she gets silent time, and I get dacay and the history/ energy of a lunatic asylum. What is not to love?

Sisters are helping me with the cost for my birthday but I will have to tighten the belt even more for the fuel, hotel room. But I know in a few years I will never be able to do this - most likely going to be sore as hell as it is. I do have to remember to take the Vit. C packs Joli got me into taking, and wear a mask this time. I was sick for a few weeks afterward the last time, my breathing troubled from the mold, etc.

I did buy me a bag of bird seed Friday. And as I type this I am on my front porch, cloudy and cool, waiting for the birds to find the feeder. I have missed the birds, my porch time that I see as my time for unwinding. To enjoy and see life for what it is.

Peace- porch, a lite breeze, birds singing.

:)

The new neighbor is moving in next door- hope that noise is going to slow down a little as I want to cook out tonight. I have a chicken waiting for a dutch oven and me to fire up the grill.

Yeap- doing rituals seems to calm me a lot more, put life in order.

Hope you, dear reader, is having a great day.

I have had a song stuck in my head for a few months now. I know it is a bluesy kind of song, or soft rock. It is a man singing it, and he is on a bus for at least part of it. It is about the South and has a really catchy hand slapping, foot tap part in the center.

Grrrrr...

I can hum that part of the song but for the life of me can't remember the words to do a search.

I had this song stuck in my head before, and someone here helped me by naming it. If I ever get the song's name again I will freaking keep it in my favorites. That songs hits me and I just have to hear it for it to go away.

It is kind of like Walking in Memphis, but more of a beat.

She doesn't go out but to the Dr. appointments, she doesn't like. She is wanting to go to Dad's grave so I will try to take her Saturday or Sunday, which ever one she feels up to it, if she is having a good day.

She wants Chinese. She likes sweet and sour pork, egg roll. :) And she said if it stays as cold as it was today *in the 60's* she wants egg drop soup to warm up with. lol

Mom keeps her house temperature on 76, with a blanket. Burns up my sister and brother.

Let's do this.... ;)

Going to turn in the two photos for the photo show tomorrow. I was looking at them this weekend and changed one that Cat, her sister, and I picked out.

Why?

It was of a fountain in Savannah Georgia, moss hanging from the trees, flowers and the old homes in the background. It was a great photo but for the fountain being off center in the photo. As it was a shot I took on the way to stand in line to get a reservation to Lady and Son’s- it was early and the light was wonderful. One of those “OH- I got to get this.” Snap from the car window as a car waits behind you.

If only it wasn’t off center. I can take the full size photo, correct this, but the print I had was done before I caught the flaw. But it is what it is. So I looked at the other photo I had picked- the barn photo. It is a pretty photo.

Then I realized I wanted to change the fountain. I want to show some of the decay photos. Anyone can take a pretty photo. It is true- flowers, pets, people. Ok, I don’t do the people but still… is that what I want to show? To put out there? To have represent what images I try to capture? Am I only going to go with the safe, pretty images?

I like decay, the darker the place the better. The drywall dust, the wetness, mold, holes in walls, windows broken, ruined wood is what I love. Throw in a history like a hospital or school and I am in heaven.

That is my love- so I changed the fountain to a photo from the Lunatic Hospital in WV. This local photography show have best of show, and blue ribbons in each category, which I know I will not win. So why not go into this with the attitude of showing what I love to capture?

So I give you the two I have chosen to show as my work-

And I feel good about showing them. :)

Just spent honor in a good way. Been a long time since I have done so, and thinking it is time to drop the negative for a while. At least until they come back, those two. And you know they always come back. Even death will not keep them away.

Kind of sad today. Mom really is lost in her mind. In the three hours wait at the Dr. she asked me at least a dozen times why and where we was at.

A man who had sit across from us came to us, we was the last appointment it seems, as he was leaving and told me how my mother was in good shape. How she is able to hear, and see. ?? And how he would pray for us both. That was a little strange.

I made the mistake of not taking in a sweater, it was in the 80's here. But Mom got cold and I didn't want to leave her in the full waiting room to got get a sweater I had in the car. But a nice lady said she would watch out for her, would keep her company. I told Mom I would be right back and ran down the hallway, out the medical building to the car and back. I wasn't gone no more then 40 seconds. She and the lady was talking shoes when I came back.

Then you have the two ladies who helped me by holding the doors. Please folks- if you see anyone in a wheelchair being pushed by another- open a freaking door for them, hold it open. It helps a whole lot, trust me.

Made me realize there are nice folks out there. Like when we got to the waiting room it was full- no seats. While Mom is in a wheelchair, it took the elbow to the ribs of a 18 or so young man by his mother to get him to stand, sit on the floor to give me a chair. I was glad he did as me getting in the floor and up without my back killing me... not happening any more.

So my trust that there are good folks in the world was enforced today in small acts of kindness.

And sadden with the knowledge that my strong independent mother who has always been the strongest woman I knew... is not the same. And just writing that makes me cry.

Life is a cruel joke as you age.

And - it is nice to see and sometimes get those acts of kindness. I see a lot of young people on public transportation who won't budge for a person on crutches...I want to slap them. Then I see a kid who was raised properly, and it makes me smile.

Just back from taking Mom to get her lab work done. She wanted to go out by the farm so we took that trip, even tho I have a thousand things to catch up on, and get done today. Mom doesn't feel like getting up, dressed, and going out much so when she does and wants to go driving around a little...screw work, it is going to happen.

I drove and listen to her talk, thinking she got lost in her past a few times, and some things she said didn't make any sense to me. But at 84, she is doing well. She kept saying her Dad gave her the farm, which is wrong. It was purchased by my parents, and a moving job given in with the cost, from a older man who wanted to move to his son to CA.

Lots of homes have been built around the farm, the barn the only thing on the 20 acres. Sure it had changed a lot from when she remembers it in her mind's eye.

Kind of got me sad, listening to her talk, saying things I know was not right, or knowing she was confussed. Do you correct them? Or just let them see it as they do? No harm in that so I just let her talk.

Then we returned home and as my brother and I was helping her out of the car into her wheelchair she gives me this look- sort of a look of the little evil devil that sits on your left shoulder, the one that means she was up to something. She keep moving her eyes toward the road, trying to get me to look that way... to only see a nice fit man running up our road, ears covered as he listen to the music, tan legs, soaked shirt on a nice flat chest, shorts...running by. She grinned, and never said a word as I winked at her.

She might be a little off in the mind but nothing is wrong with her eye sight. LOL

My mother- always a wild one, but in a good way.

So the first day of the office move....

The extra man did not show... shocking. *said in a smart ass tone*

My normal guys worked there asses off. The man from Lexington "who is the move coordinator" Only the government would pay someone to do something that should of been my job. But hey... he is working with the contractors.

Who had a plan, that threw his plan off, which left us running around like chickens with our heads cut off.

I mean... for the first time in years- my guys had to say to me "Uhh... you might want to go outside and take a break Kay. Just walk away." lol

They are splitting up the 40 offices, and the file room into four different storage areas and temporary offices. So that is 4 stops. It would make more sense to load each stop on a truck load, go unload.

But Noooo.... this goes there, then you need to load these two items that go to this building. Then we are adding 5 items that you need to take to this building. And for the fun of it... let's throw in a few items in the last for the only spot we are not going to. Wait... you have a little room left? Then let's put this desk on that goes to the first stop... ON THE END.

--.--

I felt like we spent half the day traveling from building to building. Waste of time. But hey... we got ten hours, so...

*flips off the coordinator*

I will need rum by Friday.
