The fire cascades through the air, undeterred by the rain
that would stifle the release.
Exploding in rapture, casting itself free in climactic scream.
The fragments, spent, plummet to the earth, forgotten in the afterglow.
The night air bursts with the sounds of it, over and over,
The fires cast the night with a bloodied hue,
arcing high, raining down, dissipated, the life anticipated and spent in seconds to be replaced with silence once more.
