I'm just curious as to what others think of Cancers' updates to the Vampire Rave systems.

I love the new look And I am glad he is putting so much of his time to make this place the best it can be.

I love all the new updates he has invested a lot of time and effort into making this great site what it is and I am looking forward to the new updates this week that will be unveiled.

Changes are always good and ive seen a lot changed from the first time i joined this website. It keeps things fresh and spicey ^^

The updates are good. I enjoy this site more than any other I've been on.

I'm digging it. It totally blows anything myspace ever did out of the water ;)

I like the fact he likes to introduce new things. He also watches and if something isn't working he fixes it or does the necessary changes to make it palatable for all. I am very curious to see all he has been doing on Monday. Hopefully it will be easier for all to navigate here as he has stated.

I love the new updates too, and you're all right in that it is becoming better and better. The only thing that has me worried, is the system message that he sent through in regards to our profiles. lol.

I'm personally not terribly good with CSS coding, and have had heaps of help from some very wonderful people here, but we'll just have to wait and see.

But yes - love changes as that IS the only constant in life. *grins.

I don't like or dislike the changes.

This is Cancer's site to do as he will. If we dislike anything changed, oh well. This isn't our site, it is his.

Same goes with liking them. If we like them, good for us.

I believe the coding will be easier but we will have to wait and see

I like the updates so far.....i wish that leveling up would go much faster.

Seems like most of us likes the new updates. I like them too.

I'm also looking forward to new updates. There is a lot of social forums out there too look at.

For those of you not aware, Andy is one of VR's oldest members. He joined the site when it was 3 months old.. Back in October of 2004.

Well, it seems to be a bit better! Its just taking me some time because I haven't been on for awhile!

I am enjoying the new updates as I do enjoy a good change :D Its like a holiday hehe.

The status system is fun and I am enjoying levelling up again. I love the new layouts good for someone like me who changes her mind on a regular basis.

My only problem has been that I am getting logged out a lot on Firefox. Which is my preferred browser but other than that, kudos to Cancer and his team.

I like the changes most of the ads are gone now and it is a lot more easier to read all the way tho out the site.

I think the new updates are pretty cool :) love the new layout styles....but its taking me a while to get use to it though haha! im so use to the classic vr red style ^_^

I have the layout set on VR Classic Purple. It makes me want some Grape Juice to drink. I am quite serious.

The new updates today are great it is just gonna take some time getting used to how they work as far as doing the profiles.

I love how every new update gets us to challenge ourselves. It helps keep members around longer. I would be happy with whatever he did as this is his site to add or subtract from. But I do enjoy them.

Oh I totally agree with you there CherryBlossom, there have been so many changes over the last year, and I think Its all great!

I love all the updates, they are great! The layouts are awesome even though I don't know squat about CSS lol I'm sure I'll get it figured out with some tweaking. But I especially love that we can continuously level up...kismets are fun and everything seems fresh.

The new updates? I can't wrap my head around how someone can do all of this.. it's as though Cancer wields html and coding like Elvis did his microphone and hips.

Glad I could jump back to the classic view, was just figuring things out.

Haven't been on for awhile. I'm catching on quickly. So far I like it. It is a big change though. I still wish we were able to make it so that when we are rating profiles, all we have to do is click unrated and they would be there instead of trying to remember where you left off.

I love them. Great job Cancer, this site rocks.

I thought I wouldn't like a new layout, but i really do, lol. I usualy hate change, but these changes are awesome. (I am the kind of person who hates it when facebook changes slightly, lol)

The current updates have many options for the members.

I like the look of the newest layout Oracle Red the best I just wish it had more buttons to access different areas of VR.

Oracle is a compact, 800 pixel-width layout, so I was limited in how many links I could display. The Personal link takes you to most of your stuff. So it takes an extra click to get most places via Oracle.

On the plus side, Oracle is a very fast loading layout. Some pages load in 0.03 seconds.

I will be releasing other layouts that are for larger displays. I have some more 1000 width layouts coming, then a couple of 100% width layouts. A 100% layout is similar to VR Classic. It stretches to fill whatever size screen you're using.

Oracle also offers something none of the other current layouts offer. It's 100% graphical. This means that if you were to skin it, you could *really* go wild. It will take some time for members to figure out how to do this, but Oracle, more than any other layout, offers the most flexibility in regard to skinning.

Yes I like the speed, I view A LOT of pages while here and am always multi-tasking so thats really nice and I do love the way you have it set up under the Personals tab, easy to navigate. Its a very attractive layout and in my fav. colors *smiles*. I use a 19" screen.

I'm really excited for all the new changes and updates. I'm really diggin' the way we can choose our own style of layouts.

I can't wait to tear the oracle layout apart and go crazy.


Cancer is muh hero.

The only thing that is fixed in Oracle is where the text is displayed. So when designing a skin, you need to take that into consideration.

Download the Oracle Layout pack, examine the graphics. You can see where the test should be. When making new graphics, just make sure the text areas line up.

There's really only 3 text areas in Oracle:

There's something else a little bit odd with Oracle.

The location of the background graphics are defined in the CSS file. So you need to hard code into your skinned CSS file where the graphics are. These definitions are at the bottom of the Oracle CSS file.

I am of the opinion that the updates are very much so an update from the old, and quite fitting in that context. Bravo to Cancer for his vast abilities. I'd buy you a beer, but I know it would be warm and flat by the time it got to you.

I like the updates they have improved the site! I do find some of the new layouts a bit confusing but i think that is just because I am not used to them.

it was a little surprising when i first logged on but i've already gotten accustomed to it pretty well.

when I first logged on, I flipped out and started running in triangles around my house, until I sat down and started to figure it out.

I'm just kidding. It shocked me at first, but I quickly grew accustomed to it. I like it. I love how I can change my skins, so that it is easier on my eyes than the usual red white and black.

I love all the updates I've seen so far. It took me a little while after my month break from everything that is internet to figure out some things but I love what I came back to.

I think some of the new updates are ok but i feel some of them are unfair

Tonight was the first time I've logged in for a couple of months so I was a bit surprised with the new layout. So much so I went ahead and bought a new premium membership. My last one expired last September. I have really been enjoying the new layout tonight.

Oh, boy...something new to learn and play with...

You keep me fascinated and coming back for more all of the time. I will be a positive genius if I keep hanging around the places you frequent, Cancer. Not that I mind. Things bore me far too easily these days. A mind is a terrible thing to waste...

Of course it is a terrible thing to taste too; have you ever had brains...ewww...*shudders* It is like rotten gizzards to me.

Okay, I am mystified on how to play with these things, but I am sure I will figure the new skins and layouts out sooner or later. Right now, Guild Wars is distracting me. And too many deaths in the family. And too many colds and flu viruses around town.

Etc., etc., etc. Excuses, excuses...I know. I will get to it, or it will drive me insane. Oh, wait...I am already there. I think. Well, people say I am...does that count?

I like VR back when games were favor. I do kind of like the new status system though. Makes me feel better because I gain levels quicker lol. Or at least it seems that way @_@

I really do enjoy the updates, and I love the look of the new layouts, however I use the classic layouts so my page looks right.

The leveling up takes longer, but it weeds out people who don't spend as much time here as others.

Cancer deserves major props for the work he has put in on this site.

Changes as a social network are always good. Perfection will be accomplished only when the hard work is put into it, and cancer is doing so. I have been in the site for almost 3 years and I am enjoying it to the max. Just remember, to enjoy the site to the max, become a premium member. (no affiliation to the prince..LOL)

I assume I could give or take the changes -shrugs- they have pros and cons like all other things. I still use the classic layout, but figure in time will start to alter the others to better suit a profile update.

I think like a lot of ppl at first it was this sux's why has he changed this it is no good, oh no not another change. But to be truthfull I rather like the changes just takes time to get us to them and then it feels like nothing has changed at all.

I do like them, at first I was skeptical but given time and getting use to them I find that they have enhanced VR.

I'm really happy with all the new changes. Kudos Cancer!

I too am glad that Cancer is making VR looking better than it was before.

I think that Cancer has done a wonderful job with all of the changes:

Layouts and Skins: Although I do prefer the VR Classic I think it's great for those who are either tired of the same look or wanting someting a bit more spiffy to work with.

Status System: The best improvement I say was the re-vamping of the Status System and the Bonuses. At first I was a bit overwhelmed and, like some, "liking it the way it was". But, once I read everything and started understanding the changes, I found that this update was for the better.

I think the new systems started motivating those (like me) who tended to be a bit less social and has brought a little more partipation in the Covens.

Once you get to the higher Levels, it's harder to move up, but with the percentage system and the added Levels, I think it's great to see more movement up the scale, rather than just see a change when you reach the next level. Seeing some rise in your status, whether it is an entire level or not, gives incentive.

Mentorships: Another wonderful addition was the start of the Mentorships. I have no intention (at the moment) to start a Coven of my own, but allowing those of us who enjoy helping others form our own Mentorship, has given me a bit of a purpose here in VR.

well i say was a good job but i think that more time and effort should be put into what the site stands for and not for what people think it should stand for i mean some have very confused thoughts about the site and it should be a lot more clear in what it stands for .
I mean if it does not have a centeral goal then that can lead to one big mess and to many people just looking for some way to meet people . Or is that it are we all here just to meet people no its to learn alot more than that so i say great job if thats what the goal was but if not well then its just a good job.

I see them as improvements as much as they're updates really. I joined the site over a year ago and everything in terms of updating has made the site that much better and that much more enjoyable.

Well, not really. Simply change your layout back to the Classic setup, be it red or whichever color you choose. It's still as easy to navigate that way.

They work for me so far.

After experimenting with several of the new updates, I can now honestly say that it is quite an improvement. I am quite glad that there is a site where the owner actually asks for insight rather then layind down the gritty rules and saying "This is how it will be, take it or leave it." A very welcome breathe of fresh air.
