If it's not too personal of a subject I'm curious about what inititally drew people to this site. I'll start off with my own reason of course. My first time joining I was simply googling, believe it or not, necromancy and it's origins and by some freak chance this site came up and I saw a potential for a wealth of information and friends who would be understanding of my tastes which are considered odd by others. If you'd rather not discuss that I would love to hear what type of vampire in media or folklore has the most appeal to you or even both!
I was searching for like a master post related to Vampires on Goggle, which happened to suggest me this site. Glad to have discovered it. Alot of what I'm into is also considered odd as well, but normal here amongst the site.
Feels nice doesnt it? I never did get my research done actually but I've still learned alot and met a lot of nice people on here!
For many, "Vampirism" is a mith, for some is a way of living around the Humans. There are places, that you only can imagine and for sure, you will not find in your typical neighborhood. I am not talking about those Vampires portrayed on Books or Hollywood movies, I am talking about those who follow a code of silence, for the protection of the clan. One of this place is in Argentina, which I did visited back in 1974. Was amazing and meet many good people. My two cents to the subject. Being in VR for sometimes and is a cool place, so far.
That would certainly be a first for me and I travel quite a bit to the point where I have to let people take care of my house for me more than I am there myself but perhaps someday I will come across something similar.
I came here seeking fresh blood. The donor pool I am familiar with has dwindled as of late, and I figured this would be a good place to dive into a new one. Of course, there are other reasons I remain here. For one, it is nice interacting with fellows who share my particularly refined palate. For another, it seems my specific skills have found use among some users I've become acquainted with.
I am glad to see you have found it enjoyable here and hopefully as time moves forward it will continue to be more so and that you will find it only more so and that you have found someone who has use for your skills just be careful that you are not taken advantage of.
Oh, I would nlt worry about that. And I have found some who could benefit, though the majority of these would only benefit in a clinical setting. Which, while disappointing, does make it interesting.
In all honesty, I came to this site with a bountiful knowledge of vampires and vampire-slayers found in the media. At that point in time, I was experiencing the first inklings of depression and was always feeling lethargic. It was only later on, after a while of staying on this site, did I realise that I ACTUALLY was an energy vampire. So yeah... as they say, the rest is history. :)
i wanted contact with other like me and literally just googled gothic social network sites
I found this site while researching for things that could assist my Master and myself. He is a fairly newly awakened Sanguivore and it has been an intetesting few years. I have been his donor/swan for almost 2 years now and we have learned alot. Its nice to see and know there are others.
I was looking for a legitimate online vamp community that would accept me as I am and this site claimed to be for and loved by real vampires. The claim was deceptive as the majority of the posters do not seem to be vampires/vampyres but merely fans/students of the subject. A shame, really.
Currently, my favorite media vampire type is a tie between those from Vampire Acadamy and those from Vampire Knight. I enjoy comparing and studying the 2 types. They are satisfyingly meshable.
Currently, my favorite folkloric vampire is the Varcolaci.
I'm pretty sure I found this site through searching for "gothic" social networks. I think there was a different one that popped up under the Dark Network first, but then I found this one through that site. I liked this one better.
Vampirerave is still surprisingly pretty active so that's great. I took a hiatus for a while and lost touch with the site due to personal reasons. I've tried other sites like Vampirefreaks since having more time for SM and that site's pretty much dead aside from the forum maybe and a few groups.
I was merely looking for goth/vampire websites when I was surfing the net. This site kept popping up, so I decided to take a look and see. Everything I'm into seems to be represented here...it feels nice not to be on the outside of "normal" for once. Everyone here has been very kind to me thus far.
I wad searching for place to feel like I belong I've meet some real cool people
Was browsing old angelfire-hosted (yes, that old) occultism websites, clicked on a banner that took me to a website that had all sorts of goth/vampire/occult-related links listed. This was one of them, and so I thought what the heck and joined.
I heard some kids in highschool mention VR, about 11-12 years ago. I went home and made an account after idly searching the internet for similar websites.
I believe, like most, I was simply looking for a forum to collect information, discuss and learn from others of their experiences and ideals. Vampire Rave has a unique community that has an intermingling of people from all walks of this life. :)
When there is a lack of blood, some vampires struggle to remain in tact. I’ve found, somehow, the forums and vampire community involvement creates awareness, rather than distancing myself from my vampiric nature, or resorting to some form of denial. I live in a rural area... so websites are sometimes my only option.
I have been into Vampirism way back, before this web side was created. I even conducted an interview with the real descendant of Count Dracula in Argentina, many moons ago. I will be translating it and posting it here.
I found this site while lurking in use net groups years and years ago, been in the vampire scene in general for about 15 years.

I joined in early April of 2006 (on my main account), so we're going on 13 years now. What actually brought me here was a random message from someone I didn't know on AIM telling me that they thought I would enjoy this site. I can't say they were wrong. After a few minutes of looking around, I was a member, and I haven't once regretted that decision. I have a deep fascination for vampire mythology and lore, so really, it was only natural that I stick around.
I was originally on a quest for vampire fangs when I ran right into the Database of Vampire Rave. I am a gamer and was also interested in online communities and after taking a peak at the forum I knew this was a place for me. My story here is long and full of twists and turns but I think it may belong in a journal rather than here.
The information you can find on this site is incredible. What drew me here was part curiosity, part wanting something different years ago when I first joined. It has been a learning experience indeed:)
I came here,12 years ago,to find a teacher,
Or a mate. Maybe find friends or just learn.
I come,then I go..and I repeat this,looking
For the same things.
I have learned a lot here, but not everything.
Never found the right mate,
And only a few friends.
Not once did I find a serious teacher.
I guess..I come back when I grow lost,
Within myself..or threw loneliness.
I was a young teen who liked vamp literature and movies. Stayed here after meeting lovely people, and now occasionally return.
I came here to divulge myself to the world. Why else would I share my secrets? *evil grin*
Someone on another site was complaining about this one. Being curious, I decided to check it out for myself.
I found this site in 2004. I was looking for answers about vampires from a dream encounter that i had.
I actually did a video today based on that encounter that kickstarted it all for me in my journal.
I came here in 2010 after a ex friend in real life told me about the site and offered me a profile
Three days later I created my own profile
Incessant dreams and visions... back when there were so many forums and sites, they'd grow and fade, this one just keeps on gliding along. Great community, even if you're not always active.
A friend introduced me to it and I do like vampire stories so... yeah
I don't think I would have found VR if not referred here by some real life friends who knew my fascination with horror, vampires and the occult.
Just surfing the web about Vampyres, and when I found VR I stopped. I found a lot of good articles all in the one place, then there is the like minded friends.
Surfing the web and found VR. Why did I stay, well it was a mix of things.
I too was just googling. I had gone astray from my vampiric needs and wants by confirming to society. Well in a dark place in my life, I wanted to feel a part of something. I yearned for others who could understand me. So I was googling vampire sites. Since Yahoo was no longer by the time I made my first account here. Pure luck, I guess. Or maybe it was fate, if one believes in that. Whatever it was...I found something here that I was lacking.

I was referred to the site by someone I have a great deal of respect for. I have found friends, and a massive knowledge base about vampires and the vampyric lifestyle so naturally I stuck around.
it was shown to me by a friend years ago .. its been nice to be around people who wont think im crazy
To talk to people and become friends with more like minded people
For me i googled after information and came across this site. I wanted knowledge and that i still do today and this site is a great site for that purpose.

I initially found VR from the Database while searching for something. It was shortly after the DB had been started.
I left then came back in 2008 after I was done with my time in the army. Been here since.
I found VR while I was researching some paranormal topics such as the origins of the Vampire myth, ghosts etc and my browser kept suggesting the Rave :-) Needless to say I was curious and before I knew it I was creating an account lol
Honestly, I found this site through a different social media. Can't remember if it was Vampire Freaks or MySpace. What kept me here was the fun. The forums, the games (when they were for favor), the covens, etc. The friendships/family feel back then.
I was researching vampire experiences in the cities and vampire interviews. I then came across this site and decided to go for it. Newbie of a couple days here, but I love this site. It is a great place to gather without judgement and learn more.
I was just Googling the vampires and stumbled on this site…
I had googled Vampire Sites and this one was top of the list closely followed by Vampire Freaks.
I chose this one and have never looked back. I have a close knit Supernatural family here and I like it here because I am not judged for being myself.
Thank you for bringing this topic to the Forum. I think it is important to discuss vampires over and over again as, in essence, that is what has brought us together on this site.
In my case, it was gothic literature in general, and vampire novels in particular, that drew me to this site. I must say that my mother tongue is Spanish, so this website is complex for me and I consider that I do not understand a significant percentage of what is expressed in it. As far as I know, there is no website in Spain that gathers vampires or people interested in vampirism. At least, a serious web.
On the other hand, I think that this web hooks by the system of progress and punctuation. The level system is, without a doubt, a motivation to continue and participate. Thanks again for bringing up this topic. Regards.
I was doing a search on vampires and this site came up. I was here 16 years ago and left due to family reasons, but I returned because I felt at home here with my friends I had made. Sad A lot of them have left to as when I returned. Yet I have made new friends and enjoy talking with them.
I searching for some info and this site popped up and I haven’t left since
I was asked to join by my Alpha, I was a Beta then, I find the sight most helpful with spells and such
I had a vivid dream encounter with what I call a Vampire Demon back in 1998.
After that encounter, it drove me to learn more about vampires in general and that's how I found this site.
