Watched the Kentucky Derby today. Talk about a close finish. Horse had a longer neck, might of had another winner.
Always makes me want to watch the movie about the greatest race horse-
Secretariat.
As storms moving in, sounds like a great way to end a peaceful day.
And having a smile as I remember my Mom in a house coat, hair pins in her hair, cigarette, and screwdrivers drinking as we watched the Derby.
First alcohol other then bear was mom letting me have a screwdriver. Like the beer, which Dad would let us drink as he always salted his can top. Ewww. He just laugh as he knew one sip be all we take.
Mom screwdriver for us young adults? Probably 1/4 cup to 12 oz oj. But it made us feel grown up.
My parents didn't drink often. Neither did any of us kids. Social, sure. But not to get drunk.
At 57- drunk 3 times in my life. Always around my family or friends I trust totally. Only way to do it.
So off to make popcorn, and watch another beautiful horse story. OldSoul movie last night was about a horse race, but it was in a dessert.
Got a theme going . ;)
