Did I accidentally go to sleep for ten years and wake up on another planet? How are these people getting into college? Back in the day there was a test....I wrote this e-mail this morning, word for word and sent it. I'm astounded and feel like failing the student on principle.
"Ms. [blank],
Your circumstances are exceptional and therefore I will grant you an extension on the paper. However, in the future please do not use "text-speak" to communicate with me. The communication relationship we have is formal. Thank you."
y wuld I even have 2 say this 2 a mf? It blows my mind. Incidentally, the story is funny too. She is explaining that she is trying to write the paper WHILE having a baby, and that as she is having a contraction and trying to type at the same she dropped her computer. All righty then...

I think if you are in college and you get mad because somebody tells you that "there" and "their" are NOT interchangeable, then you are a turdlette.
That being said, most people are turdletts at some time or another, including me. But really! "I spent some time their"...and you defend your misspelling....and you are a college sophomore? Sick.

I just had a student send me an e-mail saying they couldn't make it to my office hour because they needed to spend time with the Lord. I wonder how much time Jesus is going to put into grading her papers?

As I was grading today, I came across a paper that began with a full on dedication. For real.
"I would like to dedicate this paper to my classmates and my professor for helping me gain in [sic] this knowledge. I would like to thank my parents...a full paragraph, I kid you not.
The other gem today was this sentence, "If I killed somebody it would severely effect [sic] their right to life."
People are funny.

I will say that there is no lack of creativity in today's students. I can't wait for them to graduate and make it to Hollywood. We need something new and fresh; not more remakes of classics and straight-to-DVD sequels.
We could call this one "She's having a Macintosh"
