Halloween Party 2009

15:13 Oct 31 2009
Times Read: 911

We had a little halloween party for the kids in my family here last night, my family members and Rat and Birdy came over to join us. We had a great time even if it was very noisy!

Adam found it all a bit too much and opted out early staying in the rooms next door to where we all were just peeking in on us every now and again but he didn't completely loose it either so yipee.

The coffin was made and looked pretty good in the end, we all ate some great stuff, thanks Rat for the hot wings and Birdy for the ranch dip :)

We told scary stories and did a story round too each adding onto the other's lead which was fun but very strange after the kids got ahold of it. We did a bit of apple bobbing and Rat was a big success at it! Birdy and I not quite as smooth but Birdy beat me all to heck, stick my nose down in the water and like all cats I'm jerking away. lol

I'll post pictures as soon as I can get them edited.

Counting those chickens

19:58 Oct 29 2009
Times Read: 926

Life really likes to teach us lessons, doesn't it?

I was so sure the problem with my throat was the part of my thyroid left in because the insurance company refused to let them remove the whole thing during the surgery even though it had growths on it too! Then life decides to knock me for a loop!

Seems it's not my thyroid at all though it does still have growths they are not the choking problem this time. The barium swallow xray came back abnormal showing a tumor on my esophagus. Bunch more tests now scheduled to try and determine if it's cancer or something I can just live with... it causes a partial blockage but I can deal with that rather than finding a thoracic surgeon (my regular surgeon doesn't crack chests) and having such extreme surgery. I just hope I get the choice.

My gran used to say never count your chickens before they hatch and I sure forgot that lesson. I was happy that at least this time I'd know what to expect and that there was no cancer concerns... yeah right.

A friend pointed out to me that while I never have and don't smoke I spent most of my life and career in small confines with heavy smokers. And they say 2nd hand smoke doesn't hurt you!

Part of me wants to be scared but a bigger part just wants to be ticked off and refuse to worry about it at this point. Seems like every time things start going good for me something else happens lately. I've not told much of my family at this point, I don't want a lot of boo hoo and more of the "are you right with god?" calls or visits. I'm not nuts, I've already had 2 of those and luckily my sister intervened saying "she chooses to worship in her own way and hates organized religion!" Sweet of her when she really gets into church herself.

I am very sorry for you. Our bodies, are suceptible to diseases or certain cancers, it just depends on what brings it out. I often argue this about the sun. Although, I don't disclaim that it was due to the second hand smoke.

My aunt has a skin cancer of sorts, grandpa died from liver disease, and my dad had growths of calcium several places. It just depends on the weakness in our bodies.

I am very sympathetic to you, and I hope you life goes well with all this stress and surgery.

I think smokers who do smoke around others ought to be choked! especially today when we do know that passive smoking can have such a devasting effect on others, and having such an effect as you have suffered.

I used to be chairperson of a group on behalf of the British Lung Foundation and it was appalling how many people came into group as sufferer's of passive smoking.

I only hope things improve for you sweetheart xXx

I like this guy

15:11 Oct 21 2009
Times Read: 952

This is me getting some stuff off my mind about recent developments in my life and health so it's not interesting to anyone else, just my record of things to look back on as I do with older entries now. Over 3 years on here and it's fun to look back and see where my life and mind where sometimes.

A few weeks ago I showed my general practitioner doctor some spots on my finger and thumb that didn't look like my normal freckles. He said they needed to be took off and was willing to do it but I decided to go back to see the surgeon I had used in the past. I showed him and instead of cutting or freezing he gave me a cream that will cause the skin to blister up then peel them right off. Yipee no cutting on my hand!

Then he asked me about my thyroid and how it was doing, I admitted I have had some choking problems and he felt of the half still there and looks like it may now have growths on it so I'm going for a cat scan tomorrow and then a barium swallow x-ray next week.

I've done both tests before so know what to expect one's uncomfortable and the other means I'll have to fight not to hurl. lol Oh joy joy but hopefully they'll show that it's still small enough not to need to come out.

Yes I wanted the whole thing removed 2 years ago when I had the first surgery but my insurance company refused saying the growths on it were not large enough while the left side had one 3cm alone. Yes I choked up on a drink of water frequently. lol

At least this time there's no tests coming back saying it's cancer! So even if it does have to come out I know what to expect and won't be afraid of chemo and scary stuff like that.

I am glad that the surgeon gave you some cream for the spots. Having something froze and taken off that way leaves one heck of a scar. Even though the doctor said that it wouldn't leave one.

Keep us posted on how the tests turn out. Big hugs to you.

I'm not quite sure what's going on with me, I've got this weird popping feeling in my left ear and I'm having dizzy spells just sitting still. Like everyone else in my area, my sinus are killing me but then when you live around here it's just common. I got over the cold I had 2 weeks ago but now this just won't go away. Luckily I have a regular scheduled visit to my doctor this evening but in the meantime it's giving me an awful headache. :(

Is it just me or does there seem to be something in the water to cause folks to act so hateful lately? People that usually are easy to get along with are jumping at the least possible provocation into full blown fight mode. It's as if everyone's nerves were about to break.

Whether you believe in religion or not, the old words of "treat others as you would like to be treated" still make the world work best. Try it and you'll see.

A) weather and seasonal changes- happens all the time, real life and otherwise.

B) Vr. It comes and goes in waves. People around here go along just fine for awhile then suddenly there has to be something explosive. I personally refer to it as "virtual oral diahrrea..."

I have come to the conclusion that one idiot is a pain the the tookis, several idiots are a political meeting and a room full of idiots are the people who show up in a court room just to watch someone be tried that has no connection to them.

What Survivor can't keep them entertained enough?

Every day something different

I've been telling my friends I was thinking of getting my hair cut and I bet they think I was just meaning an inch or so but I went a bit farther than that by about 4-5 more inches. Here's the new do and I think I'm going to like it once I get used to not being able to put it up in a ponytail.

I've no where near the eye or talent for taking pictures as Rat and some of the other great artists with a camera here but this wild morning glory showed up in my backyard where no other flowers grow around us and I think it's lovely.

I have fond memories of my mom growing Morning glory's as a kid.

Some of you know my home is now shared with a couple of cats that came along with my sister and the kids. These are 2 of the weirdest cats I've ever seen both wanting to hang out in the bathroom waiting for one of us to just try and use it. Spooky is the black one that lies in wait for any of us to even think of turning on the water without his permission. Socks is the gray one but is always called little gray and this cat hogs the toilet and if you make her get down she'll curl around the base demanding you be quick about your business.

Such is my day to day life filled with weirdness and the occassional spot of beauty.
