My feelings on politics:

I look at the position of president, as a job application. Does the person have the background and knowledge to do the job? Think of it this way. How frustrating is it to have a new boss put into a position and they have to be taught part or all of their job and how things work?

I am not swayed by a good speaker, or one that compares himself with the greatest leaders that this country has seen. I am not swayed by mudslinging, or I try not to be. I look at what the candidate has done and if it would fit the job.

Due to us being in a war, has the candidate any experience in the military? Obama, no. McCain, yes. I believe McCain would not only bring the war to an end, but he would do it in such as way, that our military doesn't feel like a failure. I worry that we will have another "Vietnam" on our hands, with our military feeling like failures. I have spoken with my friends and family that are in the military. They see the difference in the country, they are fighting. They see the changes and the satisfaction in the people's faces.

Is this really the time to put someone in the powerful position, who doesn't know the ins and outs of the military? Someone who is going to have to ask for the opinions of others, to have the consequences explained to him, someone who might not know when someone is giving him recommendations because of what they want.

My vote is going to be for McCain. As he seems to be the more qualified candidate, at this time.

The following I found, after I made my decision about McCain.

As I was researching the candidates I found something very interesting.

Apparently, I have a connection with McCain. Or that I know of someone, that was in the war with McCain.

“On July 29, 1967, while preparing for his sixth bombing run over North Vietnam in his A-4 Skyhawk aboard the deck of the USS Forrestal, an accidentally fired Zuni missile ripped into his plane's fuel tank. Within moments, a chain reaction swept the deck of the carrier, triggering fires and explosions, setting off 1,000-pound bombs and engulfing planes, killing 134 men. McCain, slightly wounded, saw body parts fly and watched blistered comrades die before his eyes.

From the posted by Robert Dreyfuss on 09/05/2008 @ 12:33pm, the Dreyfuss Report.

Growing up, my family was good friends with the Amo’s. Howard Amo was a very large and jovial man, but I didn’t know until adulthood, that he suffered from Post Traumatic Stress disorder, due to his time on the USS Forrestal. He was part of the firefighting force on the Forrestal and was part of the crew trying to save the ship.

As my brother went through his Navy training, one of the movies they showed was “What not to do when fighting a fire on a ship.” They showed several movies, taken from the USS Forrestal, of what happen on that day. One of them, showed two men, with a fire hose, spraying water down into a hole in the deck. The instructor went on to explain that this was the fastest way of sinking a ship, putting water in the hold. My brother borrowed the tape and brought it to Mr. Amo.

Mr. Amo came to my brother’s next class and put the tape in. He pointed to the first person on the hose. “That is me,” he said, “and we are not trying to sink the ship. The hole in the ship, revealed all of the unexploded bombs. My brother and I, were trying to cool the red hot bombs that we saw, to prevent another massive explosion. The deaths, were those of the firefighting crew, as they did just what I was doing, trying to cool the bombs, before they exploded. It is a time that I will never forget, but please, don’t tell me I was wrong, for doing what was necessary.”

I saw in that man, a very proud individual, who saved countless lives that day, along with loosing countless friends. I can’t even begin to imagine the horror that he went through.

Upon further investigation, some people blame McCain for this tragedy. Saying he was “hot dogging” and being unsafe on the tarmac. I have a call put into Mr. Amo. I want to see what he felt what happen. People can say, “this is what I think happen.” I prefer to find someone that was there, that survived.

I come from a family that was always giving in one way or another to our community. My father was a volunteer firefighter and medic with the local fire department. Often in the middle of the night, he would run out, to help a stranger in need, for no pay, no news coverage, but sometimes something as simple as "Thank you." My mother would volunteer with tutoring kids with reading problems. She loved the look on their faces when things clicked and they were able to read their first sentence.

I was taught growing up, that the biggest satisfaction in doing anything, was simply hearing those two words. "Thank you." So, I try to do something nice for everyone I come in contact with, whether it was something as simple as listening, giving money or a roof over the head when it was needed.

I applaud people like Joli, that have made it their life's work, to help people every day. It is not only extremely satisifying work but you would think, extremely emotional and discouraging at times also. I am too emotional a person to put myself through that every day, so, I have even more respect for Joli, for just going to work everyday.

I do my best to make a difference in someone's life, every day. Whether its teaching a child not to be scared of the water, giving one of my coven member's someone to vent too, or simply giving someone a hug because they need it.

Listen to this song. Wouldn't the world be a better place, if everyone continued the Chain of love and did something nice for someone, just because its the right thing to do?

Yeah I know, its a nice thought, but not a reality. But think about it....when was the last time you did something for someone else, that brought tears of gratitude to their eyes?

I had a good time this weekend, reconnecting with LordV. On saturday I had to work and then I went grocery shopping. I was exhausted when I was done and ended up spending the rest of the night on the couch. LordV and I snuggled, cuddled and kissed, as we watched movies. At the end of the movie "Hudson Hawk", we danced to Swinging on a Star, during the credits.

I have never had someone dance with me, in that nice slow, provacative, dirty dancing kind of movement, until LordV. I love it. It makes me feel so wanted and desired, to have your man come up behind you, put his arms around you and dance, even in the kitchen.

While looking through the recipes I have, for when my father comes to visit, I finally got around to reading the recipe that LordV found, the last time he cooked dinner.

I couldn't help but laugh and figured I would share. BTW it was delicious.

Jd's Bachelor Steak (Low Carb) Recipe

(double recipe to make for 2)

Materials & Supplies:

1. 1 sirloin steak ('nuff said)

2. Some inspired amount of Kikkoman soy sauce.

3. The cheapest red wine available (your returnables should cover it).

4. Actual garlic (You will discover, with some determined research, that it does not actually come from nature in powder form. Ask someone to find it for you -- it's worth it.)

5. A garlic-smashing tool (requiring a surgical strike into the kitchen aisle. be aware that they may have a more fancy name for it.)

6. A propane grill (fire good).

Blueprints:

1. Five or so hours before dinner, assault both sides the sirloin with a fork with a wide-ranging, rapid-fire motion. We are looking for a tight pattern of 1/2" deep holes covering the whole target.

2. Smash the garlic onto a paper plate with the garlic-smashing tool. Throw out the paper stuff, keep the mushy stuff that smells like pizza. (You are not a man if you don't taste it and learn the lesson not to.) Slather the mushy stuff onto the top of the sirloin. We are looking for full, thin coverage here. You'll probably only need 1/2 of a whole garlic for this.

3. Put the meat on a plate, garlic side up. Pour equal amounts soy sauce and red wine on it and let it pool up on the top of the oversized meat. Put it in the refrigerator.

4. Halfway to dinner time, scrape the garlic to the side of the plate (a putty knife works fine for this), pour the juices somewhere, flip the steak and re-apply both.

5. At dinnertime, scrape off the garlic, pour the juices down the drain.

6. Turn on the grill on high. Apply the steak.

7. First: Searing. Give it about two minutes per side to sear the steak, sealing in the juices.

8. Second: Turn the heat down (a little) and cook to taste. Mmm-mmm.
