Gotta come clean.

Soooo...I was reading a book and I tapped the edge of the page and was perplexed for a millimeter of a second when the page didn't turn.

Then, last night while reading a beautifully illustrated book on Ancient Rome, I saw an image of a statue, "The Pugilist at Rest" and wanted to see it closer up. Yep, I tried pinching it larger. I can't believe how automatic these actions have become.

I've gone off the digital deep end!

This is what happens when you have two teenage daughters. My oldest is in her first year of college and had left a note for me on the fridge. It both expressed affection and reminded me to put some money into her account from her college fund.

*Enter daughter #2 and some creative editing*

I then find the sticky note, photograph it and message daughter #1.

Photobucket

Me: Allie, I found this on my fridge.

Allie: LOL damn auto correct! I meant to say Allie hearts you, Mommy!

I want to point out that these two love each other a lot. They're very close, but miss no opportunity to take a poke at the other.

That's why linemen are pretty much... walls. Their lateral foot-speed is usually more vital than their ability to run 40-yards quickly.

Yonanas! I sprinkled my favorite ground coffee on the peeled bananas and sealed them in a Baggie and froze them. I had hazelnut flavored soft serve "ice cream" tonight made with two ingredients. No dairy, no preservatives, no worry about the indulgence. And let me tell you...it's creamy and feels decadent. So amazing.

bring your hands together, tuck one pocket inside the other, then do it again with both doubled up pockets. Lay flat, smooth down the nested pockets, and fold flat accordingly.

I'm thinking out loud here, but I need to. I have questions about you. I am suspicious of your motives.

1. Why do you so rarely leave a public comment, preferring instead to message your thoughts?

2. Unless it's a man's journal...then you leave comments all day long.

3. Why do you then move to phone calls?

4. Why do you have so many cover stories about your home life that do not add up?

5. How long did it take you to polish that charm and wit?

6. How many more times will you do what you have done? Yeah, I know about the others.

7. Why aren't more people asking questions?

8. Do you REALLY understand truth, trust, and honor?

Personally I find when people leave me with questions such as these, I automatically don't invest a lot of my time. Then again over time, people show you who they truly are. If something can't wait, then it isn't for me. Crass? Perhaps, but life is simply too short to waste it on things I don't want to do.

I hope this person is able to realize that the only person truly fooled by masks, is the wearer.

Today as I was slamming on the imaginary brakes on my side of the car to help Stabb stop from going into the one in front of us, I blathered out as I braced for impact, "You drive the way German men talk!"

I was kinda proud of that one because it really fits. But just now he exclaimed, "Skullduggery!" when the downloaded episode of QI failed to load.

Morri...you came along with me on my walk tonight. I was grinning my ass off, thinking how much you would have enjoyed it with me.

It's about a 3 mile walk along the lakefront. Tonight it was down in the 40s, so I had on a jacket and ended up pulling my muffler around the bottom of my face and around my ears. I probably looked incredibly dorky.

But the best part was the entertainment part of the evening...Old Time Radio podcasts. I listened to one called, "Prelude to Murder" and then the original "Day the Earth Stood Still" with Michael Rennie! It's dark along the walk and a little creepy. Sometimes shadowy figures are walking toward you with the eerie show on in the background. And other times, the corniest lines and sound effects just make you bray with laughter. It made the walk so fun!

Yesterday, I listened to two podcasts on H.H. Holmes, the serial killer during the Chicago World's Fair in the 1890s. WAY creepy and so cool. I love nighttime walks!

If you haven't discovered the joy of podcasts, you're really missing out. You can get free podcasts on just about anything that interests you. I'm a huge fan of the "How Stuff Works" podcasts...there are 3 that I get: "Stuff Your Mom Never Told You", "Stuff You Missed In History Class", and "Stuff You Should Know". I also love "Easy French Poetry," "Saturday Night Comedy", and a slew of Old Time Radio podcasts. Check them out.

Speranza left a comment in my journal that sparked a memory...

I still have safety clips on my cabinets even though my youngest is 16...but two cabinets never got the clips...my pots and pans cabinet and my "tupperware" cabinet (in quotes because I'm cheap...it's mainly butter dishes!)

When my pumpkins would try to open most, they would be met with FAIL. But, ohhhh...the doors that would unexpectedly and magically open!

I had to pick up pots and plasticware many times a day, but baby joy is irresistable. Throw in a wooden spoon and baby squeals would make me laugh til I cried.

Speranza, Speranza...mine are in the rearview mirror. I'm jealous of every fun baby moment you have ahead of you...and I'm SO SO happy for you. I miss my little pumpkins.

She's getting at that age where she's so curious about everything. She loves to give little licks to everything, like the way a snake uses its tongue to learn about its environment. Like now, she's trying to lick my power cord for the laptop. Pprrrobably should let her do that.

The poor dog gets the worst of it though.

And behold the magic of butter dishes. I ate cereal out of one this morning. They're huge, useful, and a great deal. (Two for one! Butter and a bowl!) I am a huge cereal junkie, so the standard bowl doesn't really work for me.
