Well hell in a hand basket!!! I hate mornings that is no secret. But I REALLY hate mornings when I get up to do a good deed for another professor and cover her class and it turns out she has scheduled something else - after I am on time AND with preps done. GRRRRRRR

Finally decided I had better go to the Dr for my coughing this morning. It has been a week and I don't seem to be coughing less.

Well cough syrup and cipro later he tells me it is a sinus infection.

Next week is my BIG EVENT that I plan all year long for with the members of my Civil War group.

I HAVE to be able to talk and stay out in the middle of a field for days. Sigh...mostly I love it but sometimes it is a fine line towards hate..... esp when people are up in my grill over piddly shit. Luckily I have some very good people on my team.

Rat is always the one talking about garages and tires and autos... .well........my turn...:(

I was on my way to Lexington this morning to go to my Reiki therapy. I have to leave by 9 :15 to get there by 11. It was 9:15 and I pulled out of the apartment and went a two tenths of a mile and pulled to the middle turn lane to wait to get gas. When all of a sudden .......BOOM.... WHOOOSHHHHHHHH....... Yup a BLOW OUT.

Thank heavens that I was not on the high way doing my normal 75-80.

I just turned into the gas station and did a U turn back on to the road to go back a tenth of a mile --- caution lights flashing - --- doing about 7 miles an hour....rubber flapping.....and pulled into the Johnny Wheels place.

Turns out I have 50,000 miles on a set of 70,000 mile tires. So, called my Dad to ask if he thought I should go ahead and get the set of four tires instead of one. He asked a bunch of questions that I did not have a clue about so put him on the phone with the tire guy.

Turns out - I am getting a new set of tires, the old 3 decent tires going in the back of my truck for Dad and.....Dad asked him to wait until he could give me a check to pay for the tires as my Christmas present. :)

Gotta love Dad.

And since I am a "good customer" they agreed to wait until I got the check from him. WOOT!!

Now....I have the money to pay for the tires..it would be tight but I have it. But.......if I did that....it would undo what Dad is trying to do... give me a Christmas present. (early I know but still) So I am going to let him do this for me.

So......here I sit in the lobby of the tire place, smelling stale cigarette smoke, drinking a diet pepsi, listening to the sounds of a tv playing, an electric drill riviting or unscrewing something, and using their wireless. Reiki has been rescheduled for two weeks away and my next meeting is not until 3:30 in Richmond today.

I am safe and that makes all things good today.

HEY! Make them check your spare. You should have a full size one with that SUV- make them check the air pressure.

And double glad you are safe. Dad's are great- you need to hug him next time you see him.

To echo the rat just a bit- have them put one of the three good wheels in AS your spare tire- always better than the one you come with- just have them check all three and put the best of them in the back in place of the doughnut

The weekend was....ok. I got increasingly sick on the drive down. Runny nose, sore throat, cough, you get the picture.

The Sleep Inn has a HARD damn bed so we changed for the second night and it was much better at the Days Inn. In between we went to the Fort Sanders first reenactment. They had an actual replica of a fortification.....it held 5 cannons and had about an 8 foot deep ditch all around with cotton bales at the top. Pretty awesome.

Saturday night we went to a Japanese place. I had been craving it and it was AWESOME. I even chowed down with my chop sticks......YUM.

Back home and still sick. I see the specialist for my knee tomorrow.

It was good to spend some time away.:)

When you go to a reenactment you stay at DAYS INN or SLEEP INN, complain about the bed and go out for Japanese food?

Hmmm....You should try a shelter half on the cold ground and "Regimental Stew" with hard tack!

Heading out to a new civil war reenactment that I have not been to before. Going down around Knoxville to Fort Sanders. Should be interesting. The website looked to have trenches and everything, :)

I will have a hard time walking much but maybe I can see stuff from a distance anyway.

And.....it will be good to just "get away" for a weekend. I haven't gotten a vacation this year or many weekends away. So....yeah me!!!

Rat and Cat - I will have my cell phone if you need me. If I don't answer at first - I will call as soon as I get it.

Got to say a HUGE Thank you to Nightgame. She let me take totes full of dishes to her house to use her dishwasher. I am in charge of the "tea" for my civil war reenactment and needed to get them clean from last year's use.
