I actually have 4 telescopes. One I have been wanting for a very long time was always out of stock on Amazon and everywhere else. Not a huge ticket item- but one that is a favorite among hobbyists. I found someone selling it on eBay and snatched it up- unfortunately the base broke during shipment. A friend of mine in another state is a really good handyman and fellow backyard astronomer with a lot of gear, he said he'd fix it for me... so I removed the scope and shipped the base to him for the repair. I can't wait to get it back, because it's small enough for me to bring it up and down the stairs without issue. A couple of mine are just too big for that. I *can* do it, but I would prefer to not be in pain. I would rather use those when I am stargazing with my son and he can help me move the stuff around.
Anyhow, I will be so happy to have this fixed. It has some solid capability and I can't wait until I am sharing photos here of the moon. I am building a nice eyepiece collection, and what I will be sharing just might blow your mind :D
Though things are going pretty well right now, the last few years have been a blur and I don’t remember what I have or haven’t shared in this journal. Several months ago I let out some serious TMI in an admin message that I wish I could erase… But it is what it is.
This is something that is not a shameful thing but a sad thing. Back in 1995 I had a miscarriage. I was very much excited to be pregnant (over the damn moon doesn’t even describe it) and I named the baby. Unfortunately, three months into it, it was over. It’s been a difficult thing over the years and I never really had anybody to share the grief with. Things were amplified over the last year and a half, and today I decided to do something special.
I’ve had a few Christmas ornaments for this child, as well as a mother’s ring that I had made with the baby’s name engraved inside. Today I named a star with the International Star Registry. My child has a star named and I will soon know the coordinates so I can take pictures with my telescope of that location in the future. Symbolism of “looking” at my child in Heavens… It just makes me so incredibly happy I did that 😁💫

That is a wonderful thing to do! I truly sympathize with you and can say that I know how it feels... I know first hand and understand all the emotions that are gone through with the loss of a child. It is something that you never really.... get over or heal from per say, but you learn to live with it.... at least that is how it is for me. If you ever find yourself needing someone to talk to, I am totally here for you. *hugs* I am glad you had the star idea! I never thought of anything like that.
*hugs* what a wonderful way to remember a loved one.
This month we receive our laptops from school. They are ours to keep- they are not "free", tuition covers them. And luckily for me, that's paid for by the VA. I'm really excited to get it because it's a new 16" Macbook Pro, and not a base model. It'll be able to handle a lot. I know I will use it for my astrophotography as well. With school- I have access to all of the Adobe apps, so I will take advantage of that beyond classwork.
The computer I have now is a 2-year-old iMac- but it's still a stellar computer. I have had no problems with it at all. I got it while I was still working. I imagine this thing will be relevant for a good while. I can only think of upgrading it if some incredible new thing comes out (or it's just old and needs more resources to manage).
The benefit of having this new Mackbook Pro is being able to take it with me and do school on the road if I need to. I have no vacations planned- but my school is all year-round. We only have 1 week off in the summer and 2 weeks for winter. Anything could happen where I need to leave town- and now taking care of school won't be an issue.
And let's be real, it doesn't matter how old you are, getting something cool in the mail is awesome :D
Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, nice! Getting access to all of the Adobe apps is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see what you do with your astrophotography. I always wanted to get into that as well, maybe when I move out of SoCal it's something I can look into. But yay for new laptops!
That is awesome and exciting! You are totally right, no matter how old we are... getting new cool stuff in the mail is exciting! I would be stalking the delivery person the day its meant to be there... I get all little kid impatient. LOL!
Happy Valentines Day! :D
That sounds awesome hopefully this new computer will help and do everything you need it to do
Oh, you know- stuff, stuff, and more stuff. Some aggravating, some exciting, some mundane. But nothing too bad. So... woot.
