Connecting to VR via the IP address is a far from perfect solution to DNS caching. Parts of VR just won't work right when you're using the IP address.

Here's a copy of a message between myself and another member.

Message To: DreamDemon

This is a problem that comes up when using the IP address instead of the domain name. This will all work itself out, probably within the next 24 hours, as ISPs update their DNS cache records.

Unfortunately, I can't do much about it, as I don't have control over other companies.

There are some self-solutions, but they're pretty technical. For example, you could change your DNS server to a public DNS server (go around your ISP). If this is something you want to try, just google "public DNS servers".

Alternatively, you can set your windows hosts file to point to the right domain name. The windows hosts file is located at:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

Just add these lines:

69.174.255.76 vampirerave.com

69.174.255.76 www.vampirerave.com

And your windows machine will go to the right server, when you type vampirerave.com in your browser. For more information about the windows hosts file, and what it does, google "windows hosts file".

As I said before, these are highly technical alternatives. Most likely the problem with resolve itself within a day or so.

Yep, it was having trouble, but seems to be working now. It was freaking out when you sent mail or anything like that. Got kicked once or twice, but it is cool now. Thanks for the hard work, I know first hand it is a pain in the neck.

There are few things I hate in the computing world more than a server move. I will be up most of tonight and probably all of tomorrow night. Just to make sure the process goes smoothly.

A while back I added an 'intro message' that is sent to new users. Basically, if you sign up, you get a message from me saying welcome blah blah blah read the getting started guide.

I think the message points new users in the right direction, as the getting started guide answers a lot of common questions. It also gets the new member familiar with how VR works.

The downside is I get more messages than ever, as newbies are constantly replying to my 'message' (the message is automated and sent by the VR server).

this website is a disgrace. i sincerly doubt your kindred at all, if so your nothing more than a worthless human. if you in fact are kindred then your even more of a disgrace than i realized. i am actually vampyric, an elder no less, so you listen when i say this. your making a mockery of everything vampyric, you've created this little game for all the meatbags to become obsessed with. this website holds no truth, your only adding to the whole illusion that the twilight and true blood series have created. vampires dont burn in sunlight, we merly dislike it. vampires dont just die from a wooden stake to the heart, if i get stabbed in the gut with a piece of plastic and it's not treated i could die. vampires cant shapeshift or morph into smoke either. for the sake of all vampires in the world, stop this little game.

Since they are an elder perhaps punctuation, spelling and proper sentence structure were introduced into the educational system AFTER they attended school.....

Really... Here I thought this was a Vampire Resource and Directory...

I mean it states on the Main Page:

I bet they would love to add to the data base about the "real" vampires...

The entry would probably look like this:

"i is a reel vampyre. i is real. you dnt no wat u r talkn abut un till u meat a reel vampyre. vampyres dnt burn in the sun. we marelly dnt lyke it. we cane dye just like every1 else. we lyke garlec. we lyke blod, but we dnt nead it to servieve. i sencerly hop u dnt think u no wat u r talkn abut becuz i no wat i am talkn abut. thunk u."

All i have to say about that is that they need to sign off there desktop or laptop unplug the router or the modem and take there asses back to school, i mean really if they are as old and wise as they say they are surely they would know proper English and grammar but they seem to have forgot such things.
