I just love anything with Ozzy in it... Especially things that show the train wreck he is. The end of this commercial is great, where Ozzy is in the background, all confused.

Ozzy is such a wreak I wonder how he manages to do anything. Period.

I watched the Osbornes at home reality show and I was horribly glued to it. Talk about dysfunctional...anyway, despite the years of heavy substance-abuse, Ozzy has a heart of gold and its very apparant how much he cares for his family. I personally think he's great, weird but great :P

2010 Movies

03:36 Feb 28 2011
Times Read: 986

Over the last several years I have been very disappointed in the movies Hollywood has released. There just haven't been any good films. However, over the last two months I've seen three-and-a-half movies that are just outstanding. It almost makes up for the garbage that's been out there over the last few years.

Here's my brief reviews:

#3.5 Tron: Legacy

Ok, this one is my "half". The plot isn't all that great and the characters are never really developed. Where the film shines is the first 40 minutes of action. What's better than the action is the musical score by Daft Punk. Totally snubbed by the Oscars, Daft Punk's score is amazing. Tron: Legacy has the best musical score since the original Matrix in 1999.

This is a movie you need to see in a theater. You need the strong sound to become immersed in it. If you watch it at home the presentation will suffer unless you have a big HDTV with an ear-shattering sound system.

#3 Black Swan

I almost turned this film off in the first 10 minutes. I'm glad I didn't. At first it comes off as a "dancy chick flick," but it quickly changes and draws you in. The climax where Natalie Portman turns into the black swan is amazing. The Mila Kunis/Natalie Portman make out scene make this a ballet movie any guy can watch without embarrassment.

#2 Unstoppable

This was a film I started watching without any expectations. I didn't expect it to be good. Somehow, the film really surprised me. It catches your attention and holds it until the end, perhaps due in part to being based on true events.

Unstoppable is believable and entertaining.

#1 Winter's Bone

Winter's Bone is by far the best movie I have seen in years. The acting is superior and the realism grabs you. John Hawkes is just scary and eerie.

I'm not going to say much more about it. You just have to go out and see it. Don't base your decision on the trailer. The trailer is awful when held in comparison to the movie.

Winter's Bone has been nominated for best picture (along with nine other movies), although I don't think it will win (even though it should... by a landslide). Social Network is the favorite. We'll just have to wait and see.

Overall though, 2010 was a great year in regard to movies.

I honestly adore most of Natalie Portman's work. I am looking forward to seeing the Black Swan. As well as Winter's Bone.

I usually stay away from newer movies when they come out, 99% of them are crap and not worth the film they are printed on. Although there are, as always, a few exceptions to be had.

Winter's Bone was a great film. Completely underrated too. Glad to see somebody else liked it as well.

For whatever reason, I've been remembering and thinking a lot about my past lately. More specifically, my youth. I've had numerous dreams about my childhood. In my waking hours, memories reemerge.

1978

I remember a day in the first grade. The year was 1978 and I was 6 years old. I and a few classmates were in the coat room of the class room, probably just coming in from morning recess.

A classmate, a young girl named Carrie Rosalie, had a new jacket. It was red and white with a hood (I'd later learn this was a school jacket. I hadn't seen one yet up to this point in my life). Her name was embroidered on the jacket near the left breast. We all thought it was a really cool jacket.

One thing confused me though. Right below her embroidered name was "90". I had no clue what that was and I asked her. She said that was the year we were going to graduate from high school. I said, "1990?" I was astonished. It was only 1978. That was soooo far away.

1984

7th grade, I'm 12 years old. My best friend Josh and I are in my mom's pickup truck bed, lying on our backs, staring at the stars. We did this quite often. We'd talk and watch for shooting stars or satellites cross the night sky.

Prince's song, 1999, is on the radio. We talk about how far away that is. The year 1999. Hell, in the year 2000 we'll be 28...

1999

New Year's Eve, 1999. I'm living in Arizona and my best friend Paul is visiting for a few weeks. Y2K is all the chatter. Will the world end tonight? Will airplanes fall out of the sky? Will riots erupt in streets all across America?

Nothing remarkable happens at midnight.

February 19th, 2011

I'm in my bedroom, in my new home in Nevada, watching 30 Rock. It's not my favorite show, but there are few sitcoms to choose from these days and I really like sitcoms.

The show ends with © 2011 at the bottom of the screen. I wonder where 2000-2010 went.

Being... *ahem* as young as you are, I know exactly what you're referring too. Especially when I hear my children lament about how many years of school they have in front of them.

We only start to learn about how quickly time passes when we realize so much is behind us... for them, it seems like the things they're looking forward to will never arrive. For us, we realize the moments we look forward to are fleeting and limited.

You and I are the same age. I have been thinking about my past quite a bit lately as well.

I don't know how it is for men, but I can say for women (because I am one) that getting old is scary as hell!

I have days where I just sit and cry. It isn't because I'm a baby. I'm scared.

I remember when I couldn't wait to get older, so that I could go where I wanted, do what I wanted, and eat what I wanted. Now I'm sitting here wishing that I could be young again.

I wish that life would slow down a little~

TV

There must be something wrong with me. Every frickin TV show I like this season is getting horrible ratings. Which means these shows I like won't be around long.

Lights Out - 0.5 share, 0.7 million viewers

Spartacus, Gods of the Arena - 0.8 share, 1.1 million viewers

V - 5 share, 5.278 million viewers

No Ordinary Family - 4 share, 5.292 million viewers

Justified - 2.1 share, 3.5 million viewers

Smallville (last season, already canceled) - 3 share, 2.232 million viewers

Big Love (last season, already canceled) - 0.6 share, 0.992 million viewers

V and No Ordinary Family look the best in the above list, but that's because they're compared to other shows with crappy ratings. Each will probably be canceled this year. A show with good ratings is something like this:

NCIS - 10 share, 18.977 million viewers

And NCIS is a show I can't stand. I seem to only like crappy shows.

I gave Smallville a chance when it first came out as it was marketed to me as Superman the beginning years.

When I saw an episode or two it turned out to be Superman the 90210 years, bleargh teenage drama with one shot of x-ray vision an episode.

I also gave no ordinary family a chance but after a few episodes I had to drop it.

I've had a beagle (named Zoey) for a little over 2 years. She's a great dog. She's got a good temperament and she gets along with any person or animal. She's unique in that she has never growled at another person or animal. It's a trait I've never seen in a dog before. There couldn't be a more friendly animal.

Real Vampires love Vampire Rave

Zoey

Real Vampires love Vampire Rave

Zoey

It's just me and Zoey. She gets pretty sad when I leave the house, so I decided to get another dog. I thought long and hard on the subject. I really love beagles (I supremely believe in the breed), but I didn't really want to go through 9-12 months of puppy training again. I decided to get a dog from a shelter.

For about 2 months I searched area shelters, always favoring beagles I came across. I took Zoey with me. She'd get along with every dog I put her with, but I had trouble finding a good "match". Most of the dogs I looked at had behavioral problems of some sort.

The day after Christmas I was going through another shelter and I walked past Sushi. She was a ragged little terrier mix, cowering the in back corner of her cage. The shelter was overcrowded and they had penned her with a very mean male dog. The male was viciously barking and barring his teeth at every passer by.

Her eyes pleaded with me. I've never been a fan of terriers, but I asked to see her.

Real Vampires love Vampire Rave

Sushi

Her and Zoey got along right away. Sushi had a great disposition and I had no idea why she was still at this shelter. She came right up to me, jumped into my lap, and pleaded that I take her with me. It really was that obvious.

Home adjustment (pecking order) took about 48 hours. Sushi has a good disposition, but she wasn't going to let Zoey be the dominant dog. This was fine with Zoey who can't even growl. Now they're like two little lesbian puppies. They curl up and sleep together, lick each other, and play all day. When I leave I know each is better adjusted. There's no more crying when I walk out the door. When I come home they're excited, but it's not the same ordeal it use to be (20 minutes of fawning).

All dogs are different and Sushi is no exception. She does a million little things that Zoey doesn't. For example, Sushi is the protector. As I write this, this 10 pound dog is sitting on the floor, her back to me, and she's watching the open door. She's literally standing guard. She does this most of the time I am home working.

Zoey on the other hand prefers to frolic all day outside (the dogs have a dog door). She only comes in the house to sleep and eat.

I am going to have my own beagle one day. They are a fantastic breed of dog.

However, with a newborn that's going to be born soon, I've opted for a smaller dog that I can raise with my daughter-- A Chic Pom.

This reminds me of when I found Megan for Holmes. Only she had been so damaged I almost didn't take her home.

Holmes however had another idea, after Megan did every behaviour that would normally have him fighting the other dog, he stood perfectly still and shot me a look, "I love her mom, can we keep her?"

They were together 11 year and only had 3 fights that literally were done before I could even stand up. It is amazing how much these animals feel- and when it is a good match, nothing will break the bond.
