I'm obsessed with this song. :3

This is one Lady Gaga song Sean and I both can enjoy. That is saying something since he isn't a huge fan of her.

I'm not a fan of those sparkle things people paste on each others walls on facebook, but I saw this between two of my Misfit friends and I bust out laughing.

We joke around about the mojo fairy and how she leaves us no dust sometimes. (Meaning we ain't got no creative juice)

Dear phone.

Please at 4 am don't start beeping at me that the battery is low after I charged you yesterday. I didn't use you.

You require me to turn my computer on to charge you. At 4 am.

You better stay fucking charged today. I have a meeting at 2 and need to call before that point to confirm it. Got it?

Thanks.

Here is a little story about what happens when parents don't care about children.

I got permission to write about this child earlier this week and have decided today would be a perfect day to do so. I can't tell anyone his name though.

When I first started my job, I was introduced to a small boy. He was timid, didn't know how to act around people and was scared that we were giving him some attention.

Well we were giving him attention because we had to do his IEP. He didn't know any of the alphabet, any numbers, or the different colors.

We were aware that his mother did not stick him in Kindergarten. We did not know why at that time. He is a first grader currently. He went into school with no basic skills. He didn't know how to write, how to read at all, or how to count.

On the behavior aspect, at first he was quiet and didn't interact with anyone. Throughout the year, he learned what kids got attention and started to hang out with them.

He became one of the worse behaved kids we had at the school. It was a learned behavior he picked up from the others to gain attention. We needed to find out why he was seeking attention.

I was given that task since I could calm him down.

Well he told me. "Mommy is always playing Warcraft. I don't get to go outside. I just get to get her drinks."

He figured that if he acted out at school, more adults would give him attention. It was later found out that because of his mothers gaming, he was never taught basic skills. The basic skills he needed to learn before school.

Her gaming was also the reason he didn't attend Kindergarten.

All of this was found out through contact with the mother, talking with the child, and an investigation from social services. The mother stated "It's not my business to teach my child to read, that is the schools job."

I was the one to call social services for emotional neglect.

It has been 3 months since the child has lived with his grandmother. He has gotten better when it comes to behavior. We have to talk to him differently and we are teaching him the difference between right and wrong attention. It is a combination of home activities and stuff at school. It is working.

He has also gotten health issues taken care of that were neglected. His learning issues are being worked on, that is one thing that will take a bit longer, but he has made great progress.

I sit back and watch people with children (I refuse to call them parents) on cam all day, and I never see them interact with their children once. Or if they do, it's to yell at them. It makes me wonder, will later in life something like this happen and they have to have the kids taken away just because they feel the internet is more important?

I love my job. I love working with kids, and knowing the stories and the stuff they go through hurts me. What hurts more though, is seeing an adult treating a child in such a way that causes these issues and they think that it's ok because "they are the parent so they know best".

You obviously don't always know what is best if all you do is sit around on your ass and talk shit about people you don't know in real life.

Play with your kids. Go outside to the park. Get some of those bright ass colored letter magnets and sit down with your kid and play with them.

Seriously. Do that stuff.

I have always said there are people in this world who do not deserve to have kids and this just goes to prove that she was one of them . some people just don't think before the spread their Damn Legs Then its the kids who suffer for it.

I always said that being a parent doesn't make you an adult. Anyone can pop one out. It takes a special person to actually be a Mom or a Dad. There are those of us (like me) who can't even have kids that desperately want to. We'd give anything to feel that. And we see thousands around us every day just throwing that gift away like it's nothing and neglecting the greatest beings ever given to them.

sadly i think this is the future. or maybe that is the now. i see a lot of kids with their parents where the parents look like they have better things to do then be with their kids. it almost seems like the kid is a pet that they can't get rid of rather then another person.

I read stories like this and it makes me evaluate my own parenting.

Of course, yesterday I spent hours with my daughter at soccer practice and reading to my youngest before bed.

I always take father's day as an opportunity to do something fun with just the kids. I know most fathers use it as a chance to play golf and get away from family... I take my kids out on an adventure and we take crazy pictures together. Last year we just went to the soccer park and played, then I took pictures of them making funny faces after eating limes, lemons and grapefruit.

It's fun! And they don't have scurvy!

Really well said. I agree with everyone here. To some folk, kids are a nuisance to have around and thats just the saddest thing. I guess, some of these people who have poor or non-existent parenting skills had the same themselves as children so its no wonder they dont have the faintest idea how to be a better parent. These folk I symapathise with.

Then there are folk who put themselves before their child's needs and thats pure selfishness. I guess these are the folk who believe that school is where a child should learn but learning begins in the womb and if a parent does not interact with their child positively, then they are abusing their child through neglect and emotional abuse.

Learning does not need to be about ABC and math - learning is done through play when a child is young.

The sad thing is many people will read this.. agree with you and go on about how that is sad and so on and so forth, but they will not stand up for the child when they see the person that birthed them scream, yell and act in a way that is disturbing.

Instead they will sit there and enable the behavior and carry on about how 'they are such a good parent' when it is clearly obvious they are not.

It makes me sad and ill.

Wow, that kind of stuff breaks my heart. =(

Kudos to you Abs for calling CPS. Too many people don't do it. That kind of neglect is horrific and it does so much damage to young children.

I don't give a flying fuck who this may offend...

But god fucking dammit.

If you have a child that is under the age of 12 and you sit on this website on cam all fucking day long and you IGNORE YOUR CHILD. You are, in fact, a shitty parent.

If your child asks for a glass of juice, pause your fucking cam, get up and get your kid some god damn juice.

If your child can't sleep, apologize to those you are chatting with, get off cam, and go deal with your child.

If your child makes a mistake and they are under the age of 5. Don't fucking yell at them. Help them understand and TEACH them what they did wrong.

I see some people on here that do that, and I'm glad that they do. They make fantastic parents and do an amazing job. But others, if you can't take care of your child and the internet is more important..you need to relook your life and consider taking some parenting classes.

If you got a problem with this entry, then it must apply to you. Because if the shoe fits wear it.

I have noticed this a lot lately with quite a number of people. It's trully upsetting, but to try and say anything will get you comments like "don't tell me how to raise my child" and whatnot. I really feel sorry for these kids, to see that your parent rather sit on the computer than interact with you. It's got to be hard.

You know... I couldn't agree more with you on that. It makes me wonder sometimes if they really understand the impact of their reactions and how much they could really hurt the child as they are growing up. If the parents aren't responsible enough to raise a child, nurture, care, and teach their child... Why have them or rather... Why not give them a head's start in life by giving them to a family who will, in fact, do what is in the child's best interest?

Bad parenting is something that isn't even funny. It makes me sick to see how some people treat their children.

Uhh... Depends, really.

If I was in a mood where I didn't care about how someone would react I would walk over them and say something like:

"Hey you... Your vagina is suffocating through those extremely tight pants. Pants that tight do nothing for your figure. Do us all a favor and get a grip and also get a size bigger. Thanks."

Otherwise, I would just walk away without saying anything. I have a tendency to walk with my head down, anyways.
