How do the different types of masks work?
Surgical masks
Also called a medical mask, a surgical mask is a loose-fitting disposable mask that protects the wearer's nose and mouth from contact with droplets, splashes and sprays that may contain germs. A surgical mask also filters out large particles in the air. Surgical masks may protect others by reducing exposure to the saliva and respiratory secretions of the mask wearer.

At this time, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved any type of surgical mask specifically for protection against the coronavirus, but these masks may provide some protection when N95 masks are not available.

N95 masks
Actually a type of respirator, an N95 mask offers more protection than a surgical mask does because it can filter out both large and small particles when the wearer inhales. As the name indicates, the mask is designed to block 95% of very small particles. Some N95 masks have valves that make them easier to breathe through. With this type of mask, unfiltered air is released when the wearer exhales.

Health care providers must be trained and pass a fit test to confirm a proper seal before using an N95 respirator in the workplace. Like surgical masks, N95 masks are intended to be disposable. However, researchers are testing ways to disinfect N95 masks so they can be reused.

Some N95 masks, and even some cloth masks, have one-way valves that make them easier to breathe through. But because the valve releases unfiltered air when the wearer breathes out, this type of mask doesn't prevent the wearer from spreading the virus. For this reason, some places have banned them.

Cloth masks
A cloth mask is intended to trap droplets that are released when the wearer talks, coughs or sneezes. Asking everyone to wear cloth masks can help reduce the spread of the virus by people who have COVID-19 but don't realize it.

Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus when they are widely used by people in public settings. And countries that required face masks, testing, isolation and social distancing early in the pandemic have successfully slowed the spread of the virus.

While surgical and N95 masks may be in short supply and should be reserved for health care providers, cloth face coverings and masks are easy to find or make, and can be washed and reused.

Masks can be made from common materials, such as sheets made of tightly woven cotton. Instructions are easy to find online. Cloth masks should include multiple layers of fabric. The CDC website even includes directions for no-sew masks made from bandannas and T-shirts.

If a virus can escape a facility designed to keep them in, what is a flimsy mask going to do? If this was a big deal id be dead, because I've been acting normally throughout this whole plandemic

My sister is a student teacher, the school she does her classroom hours for told her NEVER EVER wear a surgical mask in the school or classrooms. Reasons are because The Food and Drug administration only wants teachers and the students to wear cotton cloth mask.

It's totally mind blowing to see how many millions and millions of dollars that's been donated towards this election when thousands of families have no way of buying food or housing. Hundreds of businesses are closing! Seriously wow!

I don't know about anyone else but I come to this website to get away from what's going on in the world or around me.
Now it's becoming almost impossible to log in and not have to see the hatred from drama and now the hated from someone's views about politics.

Why can't we escape to a place that gives us comfort? A place we can be different than the people we have to live around or the tv that spews out nothing but political hate?
You can't even turn on your tv and watch the news without having to hear about violence and hate, you can't pick up a newspaper without reading about corruption and hate. Now we have to log in to a place we call ours and read the same fucking bullshit we have to endure.

Why try to choke us with your hate?

I do read the journals sometimes because there are some that are educational and some that are fun to read.

I understand what you are saying but here is some advice. Turn the TV off. Only watch videos on Youtube that you desire to see. Watch Netflix or Hulu for your entertainment, cancel cable if your have it , to be able to afford it. Think for your self, make your own judgments about people and see the world for what it really is. If you want to be involved in politics do your own research and deny any biased information you find, as it is likely a lie.

On the flip side, do not blame the members here that write journals about politics. This is their space to vent and share their thoughts without judgment and rules that silence them on any other "forum". Political posts to the VR forum are closed. Journals are not a traditional forum. So continue as you do, scroll on when you want to avoid it and if it seems educational as you see fit then read it. :-)

It's crazy and so hard to get away from the negativity sometimes.
When I've had too much I just stay away from journals, Facebook or anywhere else that probably has negativity. I might just start shutting off the internet and reading a book
