Robert Johnson was a famous Delta blues singer. He started mediocre, however, legend has it, that at the Crossroads, Johnson made a deal with the devil. Thus giving him remarkable talent and fame. Do you believe he sold his soul in exchange of being one of the most famous blues musicians?
I like this forum, nice topic. Yes and no, are my answers. I feel, with will and intent, we can do remarkable things. I believe he had the talent all along. But, as one may know, the mind and heart are very conflicting organisms. I will share my experience, with soul selling. Just to be clear on what I have stated. I do not wish to be judged, thank you.
I was young, 18/19, and in my drunken drug induced states, walking home, almost every night, through the country, around midnight to three am, I would talk. To myself, to god, to the devil, etc, etc. I was heartbroken. (Read my profile to further understand what type of person I am) I was negligent, and thought I could help others, but only with a power that was not mine. "We are all extremely powerful, in our own rite, right?"
My sister was struggling. So, to make this short and sweet. I sold my soul to the devil, so that my sisters children could have everything they wanted. Did it work? Maybe, and maybe not. But, from then on, things have been different for me. My sisters kids, get everything they want, but at what cost?
I have let this eat me up for years, now I just am. I do my best to write and continue to do well for others. If I did lose my soul. (I will post an entry later in my journal about how I feel this played out) I am not going to stop, until I help others understand, be careful, and if you decide to do what thou wilt. At least make sure you have covered all the fine points. "I refer to the ghost rider movie."
Lame, whatever, I do not judge, for we all are wretchedly beautiful. Great question, also, I would like your opinions on my predicament. I am an excellent writer, and I get anything I set my mind to, everything, good or bad. Did I sell my soul? I have asked myself this numerous of times. If I did, I truly need to make the most of the gifts I was bestowed. Be well, be blessed.

The devil is a fallen angel, depending on your cultural background. I suppose its what you believe in.
I don't personally believe in it.
I think we pay for our faults till we move on.
He might have very well sold it though. Even if you consider the devil to represent "sins" of our morals, haunting him.
As for you,you might have sold it, but I think, only if he accepted it.
Nah, what makes him mystical is not his ability. It was actually his innovativeness. He would try unorthodox techniques, like experimenting with tuning, styles, etc.
The misconception about selling the soul to the Devil, is that most of the Humans, forget about the deal, and take the sale as a joke. until the final breath arrive and is time to pay. After you sell your soul to Lucifer, there is no return; there is nobody that can reverse what you have done. So, if that poor guy sold his soul, than, now he is in Hell. Some of you will argue that Hell is just an imagination of many believers. Well, at the end, everybody will know the truth about the other side.
>implying the devil would make a trade for something he'd get anyways
>implying your soul is worth anything
>implying you have a soul
>implying there is a devil
Lot's of amusing beliefs in this topic.
It's just a legend to explain how he mastered the guitar in 2 years. And with this kind of creepy ass legend in the back, it's no wonder word gets out. That's how you get famous, people hear about you.
Is it really that strange to accomplish something you really want to?

This implying stuff is a double negative. Mathematically, if there is a belief and such beliefs involved other higher beings, the "devil" wouldn't have a 100 percent chance.
Anyway, I wonder if such "devil" could mean media. Like people who became famous and their lives went down hill. Could be like "selling your soul to the devil". The price of fame, as it were.
Anyway, this is why I had the topic very open. For opinions. :)
No, not at all.
That's just my say, now. Could be wrong.
How would we know? If he couldn't play worth a spit in the beginning maybe he did...I know I would! These are the stories worth talking about though and comtemplating.
I guess it depends on what one believes but I know a strong belief in something can spur one on.
Personally the devil, Satan and Lucifer aren't the same thing. There is only one passage that mentions Lucifer and it is not talking about a person so I chalk that off. As for Satan the Jews say he was never fallen nor evil. He simply had a specific job to make people think. Devil, I have always learned it is false thinking so as it applies to this man it is entirely based on what his belief was and I believe if he had talent and the drive because of what he believed it was most likely there but he need the extra push to be successful.
One would think that he sold his soul, with his musical ability and creepy songs.
But - as in many tales, those who get what they want from Old Scratch, soon have a bill to pay.
It's like the devil will grant your wish, but he won't give you enough time to enjoy it...lol
