![]() | I wasn't expecting much when I went to see the latest comic book movie, Green Lantern. It's been my experience, that when a movie is over-promoted it usually sucks. This is doubly true of comic book movies. I remember when Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer came out. Promotion was EVERYWHERE. TV and radio ads were everywhere, at all time slots. Trailers ran before all movie types, whether you were seeing an action film or a romantic comedy. The Fantastic 4 virtually took over Burger King. You couldn't get away from the branding no matter how hard you tried. The movie was over-promoted and as expected, the movie sucked. You see, sometimes production companies try to make up for a bad movie through excessive promotion. The tactic is less successful in the modern age of social networking and texting. When a movie is released, within hours the entire Internet has already formed an opinion on the film. Enter the Green Lantern. This film was promoted - hard. As a result I went into the film ready to be disappointed. I've always loved the Green Lantern story. A highly technological ring that can create just about anything the wearer can imagine. Who wouldn't want a ring like that? I gotta say I was a tad bid impressed. Maybe it was the low expectations. Maybe it was Ryan Reynolds, who always manages to bring a great mix of comedy and drama. Whatever it was, Green Lantern didn't disappoint. The film is chocked full of effects, far more than X-Men: First Class had, and the story doesn't suffer as a result. The movie moves at a good pace. All in all, well worth the price of admission. |

I saw the film and it was fair at best. The acting was a bit off though. X-Men was better. So was Thor

X-Men definitely had a better story line and character development. But X-Men kind of came off as low budget. The effects could have been better.

Not really a fan of comic-book movies but the trailor looks interesting. What I'm dying to find out is, where will special effects be in 5 years? How can they get any better than they are at now? Hmmm...time will tell I guess.

I like comic based movies and I want to watch this, even though I don't remember this hero, X-MEN First Class was just awesome in my opinion.

I watched x-men~first class, I wasn't all the impressed with it. I watched a movie called "I am four" it didn't really have any well known actors in it but the storyline was super. If ever you want to watch a great action movie with a little bit of alien twist to it, check it out sometime.

i just watched I am number 4 a few nights ago: I had never read the books or anything but I thought the movie was pretty good. I tend to stay away from the Dc Comics and their movie adaptations. But I do like Ryan Reynolds so I may just have to watch The Green Lantern movie.

I saw it last Sunday in 3D, it was much better than I expected, still not fantastic and I'm not a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds but he did a fine job. I always look forward to the teasers after the credits on the DC films...

I had just seen it today and well It is up there with the likes of Superman and the Batman movies. Lot of action and cool cgi stuff as well. I like that line they say Darkest Night Brightest Day. Can you picture a vampyre saying those very words.

I am taking my son to see it this weekend, and as soon as I can I have to take him to see Thor as well - Ever since he was little he's had to go see every comic super hero movie that has came out - starting with Spiderman. The only one I was really disappointed with was Ghost Rider. I thought that movie was horrible.

Saetan, I am a huge fan of nicolas cage and I thought he would make the movie but I was disappointed as well with ghost rider.
I watched Hanna, a few weeks ago although it had some great action moments the storyline was vague.
I would like to see the green lantern. But I am not a great fan of ryan reynolds. I would also like to see thor. I do love heroes in the movies.

number 4: good for the budget
captain america: decent, mainly was a set up for avengers like the thor movie.
green lantern: bad. but could have been worse
xmen first class: good, could have been better for the reason that they always try to balance the hero equations too much. real life engagements between super heros would not be so equal. last stand finale was more realistic of a small group vs a huge group of mutants.
thor: horrible, worst super hero movie ever.
