When discussing or speculating on the topic of love ... where do you start?
Love appears to be more than a feeling or emotion, but almost a magical power that can change one or more lives. It can endure anything and make incredible things possible. Love may very well be the strongest force in the world.
It is difficult to conceive that our bodies - flesh, blood, and bones - would be able to develop such magic. And the key word is "magic".
One plausible explanation could be that love is created by our soul - and once there, it never leaves. Think about this: If something so powerful and magical were to be developed inside your very being, how would you lose it?
Yes, the divorce rate is sky-high these days, and those who marry rarely make to their golden years together. So, does this mean that every couple who did not live happily ever after were never in love with each other to begin with?
As cold as it may sound, that would appear to be the case if the above theory is correct. Losing a powerful force such as love - a force controlled by your soul - is a difficult concept to grasp. So what does that say about the world when the strong majority of marriages and relationships crumble? Add that to the fact that we see parents abusing and abandoning their children, as well as family members commiting horrible acts toward one another?
It says our world is in bad shape. Discovering the answer as to why real love is so rare these days is not a simple matter. Perhaps this is meant to be - a theory has arisen which states that Christ's resurrection may take place inside the mind (and soul?) of every person in the world. Perhaps this is the Apocolypse and Christ will rise to save us - who can say for sure?
As with many things, there is a dark side to the soul. This would be evil.
Perhaps the same characteristics which apply to love can also be prescribed to evil - a magical force inside the soul which never goes away.
If this were true, it would mean that evil human beings are unable to change and destined to remain how they are forever. It is plausible to think that "bad" people - those exhibiting traits such as selfishness, ignorance, or anger - could undergo change if they have the desire and will to do so (unfortunately, however, it appears most do not). But evidence may suggest that evil - the inner presence behind every despicable and unredeemable act - is a dark force that consumes your soul and there is just no changing that.
Now we come to hate. It would appear that hate is not a soul-consuming force, but a very dangerous mental condition that can tear your life apart if you allow it to do so. Hate can be vanquished - whether it be through a doctor or your own method of self-cleansing, but the key to overcoming this inner demon appears to be dealing with your situation before too much damage has been done.
Love, hate, and evil: Two ways of life and one mental state. Three elements which will continue to have tremendous impact on our world.
