I have an idea that I would very much like feedback on, so I am putting it into writing for you here.
The idea is about Energy. This idea came to me from considering reincarnation, from a scientific approach, and also a concept aired in the fairly abstract anime Akira (Katsuhiro Otomo), as well as the philosophy and technology-heavy book Destination: Void by Frank Herbert.
In Akira, it was stated, how man’s immense creative energy, put forth into tools, technology, rockets shot into space, philosophy, and the like; where does that creativity and those ideas come from? If I interpreted it correctly, they theorised that the creative energy (energy in general) already was in the universal energy constant, and man simply drew from it.
Scientifically, there is an immense energy drain in the human brain, something about energy received greater than the energy projected from the human body, besides excretion and radiation of heat. This energy drain is theorised to be the presence of consciousness, an idea explored in the book Destination: Void, where the characters attempt to explain consciousness in order to apply that into the creation of self-aware Artificial Intelligence.
When we die, this cluster of energy must be released into our plane of existence, as the universal energy is constant, and is drawn from by creatures and plant life, say. I suppose this idea is leaning towards how- what we are, and achieve does not arise from us, or remain after us, but simply IS and always will BE. It is simply expressed by us, now, because of our (on this world) unique ability to philosophise and create.
In reincarnation, who we are is re-injected into a new life, animal or man, in an attempt for a soul to express or do something that it did not achieve in the past life. Unsure of the official canon on the theory of reincarnation, it seems to me that it does not completely conform with the idea I’m having, as I may be thinking of a universal consciousness, shared and expressed by different nodes in a plane of existence, unless the earlier mentioned cluster of energy somehow is more easily assimilated by a node (or life) that is very similar to the last, to spawn a sort of continuity.
This got me thinking about Autism. Autists sometimes are greatly gifted in certain areas, but deprived in others. A sort of exchanging in the way they perceive the world, or social ability, for extreme talent in subjects like math, art or music. At extremely low ages, one could start plinking on a keyboard, only to play classical pieces flawlessly by memory a few years later. Though maybe never be able to have a coherent conversation. When the child has little or no use of the brain some areas, could that leave the brain open to other things, like a sponge? Could this talent, or the music, have been drawn upon by the child’s hungry brain for something it would find interesting to do?
Autists do use the brain differently, and so do monks in deep meditation. In fact, the brain is used differently during Hindu Fakirs self-infliction of pain, during Christians trance-like speaking in tongues, as well as Monks chanting or meditation. When closing areas of the brain down, does it open for new or different input?
