Odds -n- Ends About Popup's
Vampire Rave does not, and never will, institute advertising popups. If you receive a popup after viewing a Vampire Rave page, the popup was not spawned by Vampire Rave. The popup could have happened as a result of one of the following actions:
You have browsing spyware installed on your computer. Such spyware monitors what type of site you are currently viewing, and then serves up advertisements based on such data.
These popups do not come from Vampire Rave!
You can check for spyware on your computer and remove it with one (or better yet, both) of the following free programs:
Spybot Search & Destroy
Adaware
If your machine is free of browsing spyware and you are still receiving advertising popups, it is the result of a non-Vampire Rave link. This type of popup is less common. It might be spawned from an IFRAME on a member's profile page, a forum thread, or by one of the banner exchanges that Vampire Rave is a member of.
These types of popups are not allowed by Vampire Rave's Terms of Service and should be reported immediately.
If you receive a popup of this nature, record the exact site URL, along with which banner exchanges are displaying at the base of the Vampire Rave page. Report these two pieces of data to Cancer.
Vampire Rave does generate many valid, non-advertising popup's throughout the site. Sometimes links are spawned in a new window. If you are having trouble playing Vampire Rave games or launching links from a member's profile, make sure any popup blocker you are running allows Vampire Rave to spawn new browser windows. |
