Started by a car fire. Multiple houses have been burned. We should be safe where we are, and luckily so far no fatalities. We're just watching the live pictures coming from the Herriman of the fires devastation. So far there isn't any fatalities or injuries, and hopefully that will stay the case.

The jist of my previously disappearing journal entry was this:



Fire bad.



Fire is certainly consuming much of the west right now. All around us with over 5 fires within a 30 mile radius from us with in the last week. They were all small where only one or two house per fire were damaged. Currently there are people under mandatory evacuation approx 20 miles from our house. Chance are we are fine, but still scary.





Let's see what happens when people disregard firework bans during the next several days.



Where my partner grew up has been ablaze as well. This is a residential fire that is consuming a number of buildings. The below is a picture of that fire.







I sure hope I don't get a picture like this from Herman's fire...

Damnit. Wrote a long entry and poof it was gone :(

I smell homemade turkey burgers grilling! I have to admit there have been some nice benefits to being gimpy such as great cooking by Seven.

I always feel so bold when I take honor from someone. I don't do it sneakily, so they know damn well what I did. Now to just see if the other shoe ever falls off :P

Some highlights from the zoo. Seven wheeled me around the entire morning as we checked out all the wild creatures. All in all it was a fun day of adventures. Apparently Seven had never seen a number of these animals. We saw tigers, polar bears, eagles, crocs, wallabys, monkeys, and giraffes.

Zoo is being postponed till Monday. Too hot and too crowded today. By the time we were at the zoo (still before 10am) the parking lot was full and they were out of their rental wheel chairs. So the new plan is to celebrate the elephants birthday on our own and say hello to her on Monday.



Today we drove around the city and visited with Seven's sister. Then came home and watched the history's channels documentary on the Vatican.



I also supervised Seven in our first collection of raspberries. Pretty soon we'll have fresh home made raspberry jam.

Me 0 Stairs 1



Yes. The stairs beat me up and now I am laying with my foot propped up above my heart, ice pack, and looped up on loratab.



On the bright side, the zoo has daily wheelchair rentals and Seven is planning for us to go there tomorrow. I think Seven is just trying to make me feel like I'm not trapped due to my bum foot. The last 24 hours has been me laying about with minimal hopping between rooms.



It is apparently Dari the elephant's 52nd birthday. She is the oldest African elephant in North American accredited zoos and they're making her a special cake and giving free pie to visitors.



So tomorrow should be a fun adventure. Just need to make sure we are there early in the morning so we can escape the sweltering heat.

But I gotta ask... Did you do something I normally do? Fall and injure yourself going up the stairs? Or were you like the rest and injured yourself going down them?
