Started up my new mentorship and things are progressing nicely. Many thanks to Mary (Beautiful Enlightenment) for doing the coding, editing of content and adding lots of material to the mentorship. It would probably be a very plain and empty mentorship without her help. Now to get some more info up there and get some pupils. If anyone is interested, the mentorship name is Blood and Rails. A place for people who are into vampirism or railroads (or both) and everything in between.
Well, I hit level 80 today but only for a few minutes. As soon as I logged out, I lost my mentorship bonus and got dropped back down to level 79. Now I am caught in a netherworld where I have graduated from my mentorship but not really graduated. If I get back into my mentorship and update, then I am over 80 again and kicked out. So now here I am trying to rate like crazy to get back up over 80 but it will take FOREVER as I have to get .6 + days to get that part of my base score up. Its times like these when I feel like giving up and just enjoying the social aspects of this site. The rate I am going, I will never hit sire.
I looked at the calendar and then looked up the dates for the Portuguese Chop Fest in Newark, NJ and just found that I missed it. It was on June 10-12. Not that I wanted to go to the festival itself, but to be at the Roselle Park, NJ train station to see the people come back from the festival, drunk as skunks and watch their antics from station platform high above the parking lot as they try to stumble home. Its like an episode of Jerry Springer in real life. Oh well, theres always next year!!
First off, Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. They are very much appreciated. Just got home so it will take me a bit to get back up to speed. On Monday, I wasnt feeling well. Had chest pains that were helped by two tabs of nitro glycerin. I was able to sleep until 11 am when I needed to get up for my cardiology appointment. As I started to move around, the chest pains came back. I got my ducks in a row, set up moms meds and got a bag together just in case I had to go to the hospital. When I got to the clinic, I was out of breath in addition to the chest pains. The cardiologist was not there so they dialed 9-1-1. Was sent to the hospital and admitted for observation. Cardiology at the hospital ordered an angio gram. The procedure preferred by the cardiologist was inserting a catheter into the artery in my right arm much like they do with IV's and then using wires and a camera, look at the arteries in my heart. There is one artery that has a 60% blockage, but its not enough to stent. Eventually it will become a problem that will need to be addressed, but not today. They added a new medicine for angina and thats how I progress for now. So essentially, I have a ticking time bomb in my chest. I can only hope that I get the warning signs I did when I had my two stents put in, otherwise I could eventually have a heart attack if I am not careful.
Now, some thoughts on phlebotomists. Some are really good. Then there are the ones I ABSOLUTELY HATE. The ones that cant find the vein and start "digging for gold" as I call it. I know I am not the easiest stick in the world. I get it, the person might miss the vein and try again. But when they cant get the vein after one or two tries, GET FUCKING HELP!! I had one phlebotomist who could not get the vein and kept digging for fucking gold. The vampire in me started to manifest itself and I absolutely wanted to BITE HER FUCKING ASS. She is lucky she left when she did.
Then there are the PCA's. I know these people get paid squat, but please, don't take it out on me. I am the one who is sick or injured here. I just got back from having a catheter stuck in my wrist and cant really use my right arm for much right now so I need a little help cleaning myself. Is it so much to ask that these people take a little care in making sure I am clean so I aint messing up the bed? I sure don't want to be laying in a dirty bed.
I am also disappointed in the ER. Here I am, a cardiac patient. I was rushed to the hospital, lights and sirens with a paramedic escort. I am supposed to be monitored. Here i was sitting with leads falling off, alarm bells ringing and I was essentially left alone for hours. How can I be monitored if the leads have fallen off. I could have died and no one would have known it. They also failed to see if I needed to eat. I was not restricted. I was brought in in the early afternoon. Dinner time came and went. Finally at 9pm after several times asking for something to eat or drink they finally tossed me an almost dried out turkey sandwich and a mini can of soda. :-P Which brings me to this question. When you are admitted to the hospital, its usually at night and you don't get to order breakfast. In the past you got scrambled eggs, some sort of fruit and plain Cream of Rice. YUCK! Thankfully they changed the "pot luck" breakfast and I was pleased to see two pancakes, a veggie sausage, and apple sauce. Unfortunately the blasted bowl of plain Cream of Rice was there too. I cannot think of ANYONE that wants plain Cream of Rice. I cannot help but wonder if they get some sort of kickback for serving the garbage??? Ugh! Need to get some sleep. I barely got any in the hospital. The combination of strange settings and constant noise kept me awake as well as my hunger. Even when I ate good, I was always hungry. I cannot help but wonder if somehow I could smell the blood, even if I wasnt doing so consciously. Then when I did fall asleep, someone would wake me up to draw blood or take my vitals. Hospitals, they are no place for sick people!!!

So sorry to hear about this, but glad you are doing OK! I wish you a speedy recovery so you can get back out there on the rails ; )
Thank you!
I am so glad you went to the hospital though and got checked out. You had posted you where not feeling well. I do believe I advised you to see a doctor.
After a recent 8 day hospital day on IV's yeah... you would think they knew how to get a vein. I am a hard stick because my veins roll. I tell them that. And yes on the ones who act like they are digging for gold. They insert the needle, my veins roll so they start moving the needle to the left, then the right then they blow the vein. Best thing to do is tell them to get a ER nurse up because they do IV's a lot all though out there day. Also one nurse who could always get me said she had to take care of her mother, she put the needle in then she wait a moment because then the body starts to relax and so does the vein, then she would slide it in with no problem. I had one nurse try to stick me 5x!
I hope you complain about them leaving you like that for 5 hours. I was lucky in the hospital here is great. When I was rushed to the hospital the doctor ordered a cat scan and blood work right away. Within an hour I was admitted with a IV drip of antibiotics, medicine for my stomach because I was throwing up like ever 10 min, and pain medicine every 2 hours and right before the 2 hours were up the nurse was there to give me my pain meds. Also the charge nurse had kidney stones before so she knew what I was going though. She also ordered them medicine that numb my mouth and throat so I could swallow because after throwing up so much my throat was raw. But do complain about the poor treatment you got so they can fix it.
I will keep you in my morning prayer to Creator.
I checked and sure enough in your journal entry I cant believe I did it. 00:27:58 - Jun 16 2016 Times Read: 109-- I posted you should see a doctor, hate to say I told you so, but I told you so and it was not the blood you needed. Please take care of yourself. I do enjoy your pictures of the trains.
Will do my best. I have the new medication and I am stopping the potassium as that was high when they did my blood. I never needed a potassium supplement before and I eat enough bananas. Thats the problem when you have to rely on a clinic. The specialists keep changing and although they have complete records, you are subject to their whims. Lets just say, we REALLY need health insurance reform in this country. I am sorry you suffered so much with the kidney stones. I am glad you are better and hope that you remain well. Thank you for the well wishes, they are most appreciated.
Not really feeling good this morning and thankfully I have my cardiology appointment. I felt pressure in my chest early this AM. Took some nitro tabs and it made me comfortable while I was in bed. I started to feel more pain and pressure when I got up and started moving around. Just to be safe, I packed a bag with my CPAP machine, a shirt and underwear and my cell phone charger, just in case I have to go to the hospital. I also made up a weeks worth of meds for my mother as well. This may be something and it may be nothing, but I am going to let the cardiologist know whats going on. If I do wind up in the hospital, I will try to post in the leave of absence in at least the Royal Blood Forums. Stay tuned.......

I wasnt going to do this until tomorrow.....wait it IS tomorrow, but I was going to do this later but I cant seem to sleep. So, here we go!
Met my father at Myerstown, Pa. To spend at least one day out of Fathers Day Weekend with him. We start with UP 5302 is on 212 an intermodal train bound for Secaucus, NJ.
We talked a bit, found that he had been hassled by NS police here and determined that this old guy who had bought the property adjacent to the tracks were calling the police on people. We decided it was better to just move to Annville, Pa to continue our day.
Next train up was NS 9136 on the all day 11J, Empty auto racks out of Newark, NJ headed to Detroit for more autos.
Next up was NS 1099 on 67Z, empty oil cans headed back to the Baaken Oil fields for more crude for Phillips 66 in Linden, NJ.
Next up was NS 8948 on 34A, a glorified local freight bound for Enola, Pa
Next up was NS 9249 on 20K, an intermodal freight bound for Secaucus, NJ
Next was NS 1174 is on a vary short 18N, auto racks for Newark, NJ
Next was NS 9143 on 19G, a manifest freight out of Newark, NJ bound for Pittsburgh, Pa
Next up was NS 1097 on 21M, an intermodal freight bound for Chicago
Next was NS 9538 on 20W, an intermodal freight bound for Secaucus, NJ
NS 7583 on 15J, empty autos from Newark, NJ headed back to Cleveland Ohio for more autos.
NS 1016 on Z6Z, crude oil bound for the Phillips 66 Refinery in Linden, NJ
NS 1141 on 61N, steel slabs bound for Philadelphia
NS 9209 on 211, an intermodal freight bound for Atlanta.
NS 7620 on 15T, a manifest freight bound for Birmingham, AL.
There were two more trains but the light for them was so bad, we just watched them go by. All in all a nice day out with my Father to celebrate Fathers Day.
After being up all night Thursday into Friday, then a long day out and back to PA on Saturday in the heat, I am still feeling run down. Was definitely feeling the effects of the sun and the heat. Wasnt very comfortable with the sun burning my skin but at least I got to spend time with my father. Will post the pictures eventually, but not tonight. I have a cardiologists appointment tomorrow and need more rest.
Here are some scans of slides I recently purchased off eBay. For the record, THESE ARE NOT MY PHOTOGRAPHS!! I am not claiming to have taken them. I just want to share them with you all.
From the Houser Collection: Morristown &Erie #15 switches cars in Cedar Knolls, NJ 11/18/1972
From the Houser Collection: Reading 461 and 608 are at Bethlehem, Pa 12/31/1970.....I was 27 days old when this photo was taken.
In this Al Chione photo, L&HR 29, 22 and 12 are at Easton, Pa 6/1967.
From the Houser Collection: NYSW 238, NYSW 252 and a NYSW GP18 are at Little Ferry, NJ 9/24/1978.
From the Houser Collection: BRW 57 is at Ringoes, NJ 8/15/1993. I believe this locomotive was later assigned to the East Penn Railroad.
From the Houser Collection: SP 7033, a MK TE70-4s Sits at Pine Bluff AK 3/31/1978. This was a former SP U25B that was repowered with a Sulzer Prime mover rated at 2800 HP. The rebuilds were not sucessful and only the initial 4 (7030-7033) were ever done. They were retired in the 1980's and languished around until the 1990's. All four wore this Daylight inspired paint scheme and were called popsicles by rail enthusiasts.

I like the Black River one. And you take better shots then this person did.
Thank you Dakotah! I bought these more the quality of the material, not the quality of the photos. I have seen a lot of his listings on eBay and I can tell you, he sells some really crappy shots. Photos with parts of locomotives cut off. The doesnt know how to frame a photo well.
Your scans of the photos look good. The trains are amazing! Really cool man. Makes me think what is out here, and what can I find for you. I know I've seen some steamers visiting museums. I have seen alot of the tracks, old and new. While traveling all the way up and down the entire coast. I've been across most the mountain passes out here. You probably already know, what the lines are like. The couple of thing that come to mind are. I live in Oceanside, which is on the south border of Camp Pendleton. It's the largest Marine Corps Installation on the west coast. Since patriot act, all trains coming south from LA are inspected(there on their property), it's a good thing. All the major tracks are parallel to Interstate 5. What's interesting about I5 is it is the first interstate in the whole system(oldest). It has been under construction everyday since. They have had to reconstruct curves into it, because ppl would fall asleep(tons of accidents). The speed limit is 70-75 mph(of course that means you can cruise 110-125 mph for over an hour straight, before a semi gets in fast lane. So that means outside major cities 2-3 lanes ppl driving that fast in the dark, fog, rain, etc. So that reminds me somewhere up north(I can't remember now) there's a huge lake next to tracks old and new that has lost trains from bad weather(old tracks). I just remember turning the steering wheel to 3 o'clock, and 9 o'clock to keep going straight against crazy winds. And looking out the window at the lake there were giant pieces of ice 10'-20' sticking above the water line from the crazy wind blowing so hard it would break the ice sheet and they would refreeze. Anyway, I'll start looking to see what I can find for you.
I went and ordered a unit of human blood. I will be getting my first taste of human blood soon.

Most times I see a post like this I just breeze over it. Not my concern. However, you are a friend. Now I do not begin to claim to be any type of medical professional at all. Nor have I ever consumed human blood but my brother I would suggest you look into some facts. If you are not physically feeling well as per your entry before this one you might want to make an appointment to see your doctor as there might be some medical reason why that would require a doctors care. Any-who, be careful brother.
Blood, when drank, is toxic. When confined to places where blood is supposed to be — such as the heart, vessels, and so on — it is essential for life. But when ingested it's a very different story. Of course all toxins have doses, and just as a tiny bit of poison won't necessarily harm you, the more you eat or drink, the greater the danger.
Because blood is so rich in iron — and because the body has difficulty excreting excess iron — any animal that consumes blood regularly runs a risk of iron overdose. While iron is necessary for all animals (and indeed most life), in high doses it can be toxic. This condition, called haemochromatosis, can cause a wide variety of diseases and problems, including liver damage, buildup of fluid in the lungs, dehydration, low blood pressure, and nervous disorders. -

Not to worry, I am not going to chug the whole thing down. I plan on only ingesting maybe a teaspoon at a time. I think once every couple of days will be ok.
I came to your journal, after reading your post in The Man Cave, to check out your trains. Then I saw this entry. First I thought, is it good stuff? Like what are the options, when you order? Then I was thinking, maybe I should get some too. It's been too long since I consumed another humans. Without getting graphic, I have only consumed human blood from female(s) that I was intimate with at the time. As I was scrolling down the page, reading the next comment. I was like I have consumed, I guess large amounts, according to what ppl here say. Then I thought, it can't be worse than the chemicals I've consumed. Then I was thinking, his opinion is valid. Then drool landed on my Androids screen, as it seeps down my face. Anyway I think your onto something.
Not sure whats going on here. I have felt drained the past two weeks. I havent felt like doing much. I have pretty much forced myself to go out on the weekends, otherwise I would prefer to stay in bed, maybe go online for a bit. Now my stomach has been acting up since Sunday evening. I was hungry Sunday afternoon so I got my usual sandwich. No problems. Then I had my dinner, I thought maybe I had over-eaten. Around 1 AM I felt a little better, enough to give time to my covens. I ate breakfast at 5 or 6 am and the pain got worse again. I'm sorry but Corn Flakes shouldn't bother me. Talk about stomach acid! I ate nothing until 4. I felt a little hungry so I ate a cheese sandwich to take the edge off before supper. I ate supper and now I feel worse than I did last night. Maybe I need more rare meat in my diet. Maybe I just need blood. Who knows. I don't have another Dr.s appointment until the 21'st or 22'nd. I hope things improve before then.

Maybe you should call your doctors office and tell them you are having some stomach problems and need to come in. Don't play around with your health brother. Take it from one who just spent 8 days in the hospital with kidneys stones and sat around the house for 2 days saying it is nothing, it will get better when my ass should have been in the ER
Not to worry, I have a MD's appointment next week. Regular follow up.
I hit level 80 and graduate from my Mentorship. It's bittersweet. Yes I am advancing, but I won't be an AMM anymore.. :-P

I'm not into trains like you are but you do take a beautiful photo!
Thank you very much!
Back home after a successful trip to Lebanon County, PA. I had hoped to see my father, but I guess he was tied up this weekend. Time to relax and edit photos.
The worst thing about being a HLV (Human Living Vampire) and a rail photographer is I want the sun for beautiful photos but I hate the sun because it hurts my eyes and burns my skin. Just having direct sun on my arms hurts. It's lovely out, but humid. It's ok when the wind is blowing but when the wind stops.... Yuck! And it only gets worse from here.......
Been trying to find a donor. I never thought it would be this hard. :-P
