Oh, I'm in a grumpy mood this morning. I hope that's just because my sense of humor hasn't kicked in yet.
I got out of bed achy and cold. My usual routine is to take a hot shower to ease joint and muscle pains, then step out into a chill room and towel off vigorously to finish waking up. It felt particularly chill this morning when, with eyes almost crusted shut, I grabbed a fistful of terrycloth from the linen cabinet, tossed it onto the edge of the tub, and climbed into the steamy shower.
I finished the shower (yes, without detail) and opened the shower door. There on the edge of the bathtub was not a bath towel, but a stack of 5 washcloths. How the hell did I mistake a handful of washcloths for a large, thick, absorbent and much-desired bath towel!?! There were no other towels out in the bathroom.
And I was right; the bathroom seemed MUCH colder than usual. I tried valiantly to dry myself with the only linens at my disposal (I wasn't quite desperate enough to try to use the bath mat...yet), but after a while a wet washcloth stops drying you and just pushes the water around. I'm not a small person by any means. It would have taken another dozen of these rags to properly dry me enough to remove the onset chill. I was trembling by the time I finished dripping enough to venture out to get a proper towel.
Looking forward to a lot of coffee and the eventual return of my sense of humor.
Hope you're all having a splendid day.

Oh, didn't you just do a ton of laundry? You really should start bringing, at the least, the clean towels up after you dry them.
Maybe.

Thanks for making me chuckle, not so much at your pain, but just visualizing a grown man trying to "sop" up water with 5 wash cloths! You are a bit better off than me still as the other morning I jumped into the shower in a hurry to get to an appointment. I completely forgot that I had removed the towel the night before to wash it and had not replaced it. So I had to dash through the freezing cold house, sick as hell, wet, in search of a towel.
