...got this debate now. I was offered an off-hours contract. Not bad money - not great. But I could definitely use the money.
It would be from 9PM until 3AM or perhaps 5AM... for 10 days across 2 weeks.
...but I would still need to work 8AM - 5PM.
I wouldn't need to sleep, right? There's always a Tim Horton's around the corner, everywhere...

It could be done for a short period of time. I've done nine days of shift work, some reaching 21 hours during a day and it's been ok... the worst part for me was coming off the shift work and having a day to catch up on much needed sleep, and I couldn't switch off.
...hence, it's not a good idea to over-do the caffeine in order to stay awake. Towards the end of the shift, I know I was more likely to have made mistakes because I was on auto-pilot, so, pressure is high to remain competent.
