I need more hours in he day. I really do.
Kismet Challenge! We're going to start playing this for favor....
Can you un-Engrish this famous saying back into its original form?
This is considered inappropriate, and examination of the soul.
The trick is, you can't run it through the translator backward. It's like making a copy of a copy of a copy... it just keeps getting worse.
COMMENTS
No, that is a good one though. I'll have to keep it in mind.
hmmm...gah. It's really bugging me and I have no idea. Spent all morning at work thinking about it haha :P
“Re-examine all that you have been told... dismiss that which insults your soul.” - Walt Whitman ?
Good one, Joli. But I'm sorry, that is not correct.
Ok this probably isn't right either but:
"The eyes are the window to the soul'.
Nope. Not correct.
Hind sight is 20/20?
I have no clue...I'm grabbing straws here and this game is driving me CRAZY! lol
I'm sorry, that is incorrect.
May God have mercy on your soul...
Nope. Slightly closer. :)
The unexamined life is not worth living?
No, that is not correct.
gah. may god have mercy on your soul Birra! still cannot figure it out even with the help of everyone at work. The closest I can get is: something, something, something, soul searching ? LOL
Well, one thing going against you is... this saying is uniquely American.
not fair! haha!
May the lord have mercy on your soul
g*ddammit?
Nope - neither of those are correct.
Right. I give up. I know I will be familiar with the phrase when I hear it too which is worse LOL
I'm guessing its a famous American person who has said it, and its a little historical in origin. I even looked up the Gettysburg Address by Abe Lincoln but could find nothing remotely connected to 'soul'...
Spill the beans please! LOL
Ever take lyrics from some of your favorite songs and Engrish them up? Take the English, translate it to Chinese, then to Japanese then back to English...
You get some fun results, especially with more poetic lyrics like these...
Rush, Cold Fire
"The Pattern of Moonlight on the bedroom floor is a cold fire."
Turns into:
"Facilities during the Cold War I discharge room floor Tuesday that the expression of moonlight mode"
Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb
"There is no pain, you are receding."
Turns into:
"Without pain, you are going backward."
The Beatles, I Am the Walrus
"Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down."
Turns into:
"Custard yellow substance, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Xanthippe Crabalocker porn nuns
The boy was a naughty girl underwear, let you down."
They might be a little too poetic....

You sir, have invented the best way to find a new kismet.
C-man needs to increase the character length options for journal section titles. I wanted to rename this one "Cavalcade of Insignificance" but it is way too long...
...I could really go for a bologna and liver sausage sandwich right now.
COMMENTS
Please, please tell me that a bologna and liver sausage sandwich is a metaphor for something else? Or a joke?
O.o
No... I can't imagine what that would be a metaphor for.
I kind of wish it was a metaphor. :-X
Whenever I make bacon for breakfast, it reminds me of a trip to Alaska. I don't know why....
...I should take a picture of it. Snails - everywhere. With all this rain, they're trying to escape the drowning Earth and get to higher ground. So the driveway, the sidewalks, the barn doors, the garbage cans.... everything has snails crawling on it. Thousands of them.
They're small and goldish in color. They're not easy to see in the driveway - nor are they easy to avoid. Walking on the driveway feels... well... crunchy.
It feels a bit creepy. No pun intended.
COMMENTS
Maybe it really is the beginning of the end of days. Prophets and scholars got the date wrong because they didn't count on the first plague being snails.
That would throw anyone's calendar off.
Yes, I get the irony. Calling snails slow. That coming from a turtle.
Late night - just got in. Need dinner. Cooking on cam. Be there or... don't be there. Whichever.
What can I talk about today? Hmmm... oh, I can mention my daughter just won another writing contest at school. Along with having her art selected for the art gallery exhibit, I'm just trying to keep it all from going to her head... and, unsuccessfully.
When I grow up, I hope to be as good as she is...
COMMENTS
Well, if she writes as well as you, is it any wonder where she gets her talent from?
That is pretty amazing.
How can she not inherit such talent?
Can you say, "Harvard"?
It's so awesome to hear you boast about your daughter's achievements. She's a lucky girl to have such a proud Papa. :)

LOL @ RQ's comment.
If you get in a thong on VR... I will buy you and Morri flowers! XP
OMG. Flowers? You think I would get in a thong for a bunch of dying symbolic vaginas?
Moolah, baby. I might live free, but 'dis body ain't free for nobody!
Well... actually it is... but the effort to embarrass myself isn't.
...why does it seem like the days just fly by from hour to hour every day?
COMMENTS
You must love your job.... Or the company you share the office with. ;)
Because you're getting older. Plain and "simoly" lol
I saw a friend on Facebook friended a guy we knew since elementary school, so I checked out the friend's profile.
He looks JUST like his father did when I knew him, and back then his father looked like was in his 80's even though he was in his 50's. So this guy who is the same age I am, looks like he is at least 20-years older. He looks grandfatherly.
I refuse to grow old before my time. It isn't like I'm going to go out and get cosmetic surgery to prevent looking old, but I refuse to allow myself to age prematurely.
Young at heart, young in spirit - or maybe it's just the genetics... I don't know. I'm just going to do what I can to keep young and active.
COMMENTS
I also refuse to grow old, that is, until I start to feel old. Right now, I don't feel my age yet folk I was in school with seem to have already begun to look and act like the Elderly.
maybe it's a Peter-Pan Syndrome? haha

Hehehe
Amen to that, B. Life and adventure will keep you young. Not botox and stitches.
...my friend from high school came over to play some acoustic guitar while Morri sang... going to try and join him and his folk-rock ensemble for a few open mic engagements.
It was fun. We drank Jack and Magic Hat #9 and sang a bunch of classic rock songs. We discovered he know a lot we don't and we know a lot he doesn't and there isn't much meeting ground between but it give us an idea of what we need to learn...
COMMENTS
Can't wait for the CD........good for you guys. Take it all in and eat it all up.
...completely lacked any kind of Rapture yesterday, which was fine. Our celebration of Morri's birthday was kind of a Birthday Party/Last Supper.
The menu was amazing. Our friends really out did themselves with home made everything. Bacon wrapped scallops, mac & cheese from scratch, BBQ'd spare ribs, Fritatas... it was an incredible feast.
I think with this group we've all gotten to the point where we each try and out-do each other with what we make. I might be losing that battle, even - but I'm seriously benefiting from being a contender!
COMMENTS
Wow, sounds delicious. That's what I'd want on my birthday menu! Seems like a good time was had by all.
Oh, it was. And then Rock Band until about 1:30AM.
I think we sang about 50 songs - it was crazy.
That sounds incredibly yummy.
What better way to go out than with a bang.
Wait.
No one went out, right? RIGHT?
...the movie just went from ridiculous to absurdly ridiculous.
I like it.
...I think I'm going to cap off the night with rum cake and Machete.
Mmm.. rum and boobies.

Ohhh rum and boobies would totally decrease my cranky factor. :D

I egg fried some of last night's leftover rice and salmon with some soy and teriyaki sauce.

Hello? I'd like to order delivery?
It's like salmon egg foo young. Only with a little more egg and a lot less foo young.
...my day started with a change in schedule as I was arriving to a job site, continued with a change in schedule that is going to make me re-arrange my day tomorrow and ended with me watching my daughter's soccer team play valiantly in more harsh conditions against a team that had 8 substitutes to her team's... no substitutes.
I'm proud of them. Even to the end, they still fought and hung in there.
I'm learning my lessons watching them work, learn and achieve every week.
...Morri has made mention of Jim Henson, the creator of The Muppets. He passed away on May 16, 1990 and with his passing, one of our entertainment industry's greatest creative minds was lost.
Last week Wednesday, May 11 marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Douglas Adams - author of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
This was a realization I just made yesterday looking up the spelling of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal...
...there was a relevance, trust me.
I also discovered in honor of Douglas Adams, May 25th is Annual International Towel Day. I wish I had made that discovery a week ago. What a perfect theme for one of our Wednesday night meetings! We can still celebrate it a week later though.
I'm looking forward to that, now.

In every LARP and Comicon I have registered at or attended I have always used the name Arthur Dent.
About 1 person in 20 looks at me in askance and questions my moniker.
Really? Are they just too young usually?
May 25th is Towel Day eh? I think I shall celebrate it this year.
♥ A good friend of mine, is son insists upon going as Arthur Dent for Halloween, and has the past 5 years running. "There is no one cooler, Dad."
I know this is irreverent, but I couldn't help thinking of this clip when you posted about Henson's death.

Just returned from a trip to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. My daughter, along with many of her peers from every school in her district, has art on display. It is quite an honor for them - considering the art from only one male and one female student from each grade is selected for the display.
She is in fifth grade - her art is impressive for her age. But some of the art on display is outstanding. Art was an area I enjoyed and excelled at in school, so to see her work, her progress and the creations of these other students - I was awestruck.
So much of it was creatively done on digital media... if only they had digital cameras back when I was in school!
Another very impressive display was the RAW display - the Future Curators exhibit - which is a collection of art done by local high school students that is on a permanent but rotating display along with all the rest of the gallery. The A-K is impressive. They have original works of Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, Warhol - just to name a few. Much of it donated by the Knox family.
But the work in the RAW exhibit in many cases is simply breathtaking in form, creativity and statement. It blows away much of what the gallery has collected over the years from popular "professional" artists.
It inspired me and broke down my spirit a little at the same time. I need to do something more with my photography than just take pictures of pretty women and interesting places. I need to create something more than just nice images to look at. I need to make something that means more than just portfolio fodder.
I have my quest.
One of those movies that at the end of it you just have to go, "Hmm."
COMMENTS
Yeah.... but thanks for watchin it with me! Ready for Machete?
At the end I went, "Ok, I get it." It was in the middle that I went, "Wait....what?"
Morri has challenged (requested?) me to make something with chicken, mandarin oranges and make it sweet & spicy.
In the kitchen - on webcam - cheer or jeer, I'll drink a beer.
...speaking of animals making comebacks, apparently the black bear population in the area is on the rise. Williamsville, NY is a heavily populated northern suburb of Buffalo - very much where the current center of business and commerce for the area sits.
According to the article, the police shot and killed a bear in this area last year, which to me is quite sad. There has to be a friendlier way of capturing and relocating them back to more woodland areas of neighboring Niagara and Wyoming counties.
COMMENTS
um, they shot it just because it wandered into the area?! WTF!? That's barbaric. Back home we call Moose and Goose (Fish and Game Troopers) and they come in, tranquilize the bear, load it up in the back of a pick up, and haul back out into the woods. The ONLY time a bear is killed is if it has become a serious threat. Basically it has to either kill or maul a human.
Alaskans understand that we, (the humans), are encroaching into the bear's territory. They were there first. Plus, we're the ones leaving temptation out in the form of a garbage can filled with an easy meal.
GAH! I'm gonna stop now before my blood pressure gets too high....stupid humans...
I agree...they know that wildlife will come into town from time to time, so it makes sense to always have tranquilizers on hand, instead of always using bullets.
Here, a cop shot and killed a fawn that was in someone's carport...talk about the outrage here. Sad.
...it is amazing what happens sometimes when you simply stop worrying about something.
There is a fox checking out hen house.
Some people might think it is a metaphor, but it's not. There is literally a fox checking out my hen house. I had to chase it away tonight while mowing the lawn.
Although I will do what I can to protect the chickens without harming the fox, I have to say I'm a bit inspired to see a fox in the area. It has been decades since such animals have been around. Not sure if the populations are making a comeback or if it is just development pushing them into what is left of rural areas...
I hope pheasant make a comeback too....
COMMENTS
Awesome. We have two foxes on base that run around during the day even. I see them when I go for walks all the time, and they get pretty close. Foxes are one wild canine proven tame-able, actually. I recently watched a documentary about it. These two are just used to everyone, they get close, but run off just in time. The red one follows me at night when I am on the track power-walking... once followed me to the ATM machine.
Yeah, we have a few around our neighborhood. I'm with you, birra...I've lived in Greater New Orleans my whole life and I've never seen one until recently. Pretty damn cool!
...better than the 41F and rain from last week; tonight my daughter's soccer team got to play on a dry, nicely manicured field in mid-50s and over-cast. Perfect weather for football of any kind - and they kicked butt!
*beaming*
I have a few goals in mind for this Saturday.
1. Get my office clean.
2. Get yard work done.
3. Editing photos.
4. Work with Morri in getting my new stamp finished.
Priorities in that order.
She is smarter than you are. Even if you think she isn't, I can assure you, she is.
Stop trying to out smart her. You're just making yourself look foolish.
....so... I... umm... what now?

Uhh... Bust out the tequila/rum/cognac and have at it?

I think so...
Are we going to bash a bottle of champagne over the computer to christen the new coven?
*snark*
I might as well have - I killed one computer today...
I knew I loved you for a reason- you're human just like the rest of us, contrary to popular belief around here...*chuckling*
I don't know what happened...
Now we start to see the value... that happened quicker than I thought it would.

Really, Joli? You're going to be horribly disappointed. Heh.
Tell me this ISN'T actually about glory...
Must. Resist. Being. Lewd.
Why resist it here? We're lewd everywhere else we go....
I was trying to respect your private place.
I have an image to uphold. :p
But I like it when women violate my private place...
...uhh.. wait. What?
Congratulations on the Coven. I am sure you will make a wonderful CM.
ROFLMAO- ohmiGAWD, you and Deity....I haven't laughed that hard in days....lol
Is violation of private places de riguer in your coven? lol
Totally - however I am the master!
*ahem*
Ok, I'm really a switch, but I have to carry the title here...
Glory?
Go for the Glory Hole!!
Woo hoo!!!
Party time in birra's glorious Coven!
Wait...
Did I take that a bit far?
;P
Fuck it. It's a free for all.
I mean.
What?
I think what you meant is, when you come in my coven, the fucking was free for all?
Wait... what?
Free fucking? I'm biting my tongue, or my fingers as it were.
Ahh...
Is there a fee to entire this partah?
XP
....it smells so good in the office after we make breakfast. I should put an egg and a piece of turkey in a pan and just let it slowly fry all day.
..anyone want to help run an experimental coven? Looking for one or two good active members. There is no glory in what I'm working on here, but you are pretty much guaranteed a sire mark!
COMMENTS
What's the experiment?
Well, you don't really get to find that out until you've passed the initiation.
I'll get the baby oil and the goat. Hang on to this paddle and put on this toga when you have a sec...
Lol I'm not sure how to respond to that lol:)
I'll help.
You're just excited about the paddle and toga... :p
Hey, good marketing pays off!
I would help but all my profiles are sitting in Covens... unless one of those Master's woudl let one out. :D
Think you can convince one? We're currently running at a negative favor balance, so there wouldn't be anything in it for them!
Give the events of this week, do you think bringing up this skit again is in bad taste?

I love to see on my FaceBook updates, Ducky posting information about Joli's programs.
Spreading the word! It amazes me sometimes how relationships on VR have evolved and lead to so many positive things.
I feel like I've been part of a virtual barn raising - know what I mean? The community that joins together, not only to help each other in work, effort and progress - but a whole lot of fun and games when the time is appropriate too.
I love the friends I've made here and I love the community that has grown from these friendships! You're all awesome. :)

I just put a link on my Facebook page. Local people know how expensive it is to buy uniforms on top of regular clothes for their kids here... ALL schools wear uniforms here rather they are in public or private school. *Maybe* some of my local friends and acquaintances will want to chip in since 'close to home' usually hits people with reality quicker.
Just way too cool! I'm so excited about this program. You people rock.
I'm glad that made you happy. I put it on both accounts. ♥
If I see a good cause like that, I have to spread the word. Word of mouth is how many great things get passed along from friend to friend and it can only help, right?
I am glad for the friendships I have built from VR. I cherish them. :)
...coven is shaping up.
COMMENTS
I hope you have better luck with the society system than I have had.
Luck has nothing to do with it. Perhaps it is another element...
I wish you the best of luck with your new coven, sugar. It will be interesting to see one filled with wit, intelligence and imagination. I hope you fare well.
Wit? Intelligence?
You're thinking LBO.... :p
Another element? Like strontium?
No, more like... apathy.
...with a little help, from my friends.
Thanks to Morri, Mobius and Cajome for their recent help in getting my coven up and running!
COMMENTS
Congrats! I'm sure you will do VR proud :)
Cajome is quite possibly one of the best people on Vampire Rave. She's awesome.
She is - it is time others that do not know this discover it for themselves.
...so much to do. So little motivation this morning.
A friend of mine lent me Human Centipede last night. Not sure I will actually watch it, thought. It's not really my kind of movie - I doubt there will be any lines in it like, "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley."
COMMENTS
I heard that not only is this movie TERRIBLE but that it has some of the most disgusting visuals of all time......
........of course if you do watch it please let us know how it was.
You could always watch it and then hit up YouTube to find the clip about it from Tosh.O.
I haven't seen the movie but I found the Tosh bit to be quite hilarious.
...I have made a bitter-sweet exit from House Eternal.
Eternal has been my VR home for almost 5 years. I love - LOVE - so many of the people that I have met there. It is sad for me to leave it.
However, I have taken the initiative to start a coven and with the assistance of some trusted confidants here on VR, we will be creating a unique society.
A very unique society.
I will be seeking other members who want to take part in this. If interested, simply ask.
Thank you.
COMMENTS
Wooooh good luck!
very cool, good luck with the new society :)
:) you'll rock it I just know!
Great news. :D And I am asking ya... whatcha doing?
I asked the other day, and you were all 'Nope'. :P
But I know, perhaps better than most people, than decisions can be made/minds can be changed rather quickly.
Anyway, can't wait to see what you all come up with. I'm sure it'll be one of the more decent covens on the site.
:) Good luck with that.. :)
Yes...have a great time creating your new coven and good luck!
good luck, Birra!
Wishing you all the best. Have fun and congratulations :D
coolio! Congratulations :D
