I wasn't a stellar student in school.
Perhaps I could have been if the teachers and faculty at the schools I attended were more positive, and on top of how students behaved.
Most of my teachers were old curmudgeons who couldn't be bothered.
But showing an interest, getting good grades, and excelling academically was demonized by most students, so it was hard to break away from the prevailing disdain for academic success among my peers.
I learned far more in college and beyond than I did in primary because I actually enjoy learning and expanding my knowledge and skills.
And no one is making me feel like shit for wanting to anymore.
Except there's that one demographic in society that still hangs on to that whole "education is woke" bullshit. You know who they are. And they're still dragging us down.
Not going to complain anymore about how people can't remember their own passwords.
It's just another symptom of the willful ignorance that is prevalent in our society.
"Make it easy for me so I don't have to put in any effort or learn anything new. I didn't bother to get an education when it was offered to me, and I'm certainly not going to educate myself on my own now."
And here we are.
The password update has been a clusterfuck,
It feels like I'm the only person around here expected to have foresight when making changes.

Sounds like my work on password changes each year.
I'm sure it's a similar process with similar stumbling blocks everywhere.
Your most consistent point of failure in IT is the user.
Today is "you have to update your password" day in the office.
Never seen so many adults incapable of doing something so rudimentary.
It's not even a big office, but the tickets to unlock accounts have been non-stop....
Why is this so difficult?

I think eventually we run out of passwords that our brain can retain.
It's not even that. It's they change the password and immediately forget what they changed it to, so they lock themselves out.
If they can't think of a password they can sit there and try to change it all day, nothing will happen. But once they change it successfully, they need to use the new password....
Ohhhh so what it happening is, they come up with something they just absolutely will not remember and then you have to sort it out for them. I can definitely see how that would be a colossal pain in the ass.
Or they just forgot that they changed it and keep trying to use the old one. Or forget that they have to change it on other devices too, so they lock their accounts. It's constant herding cats.
My personal journal is going to run out of space today....

Event last night went great. What a good group of people.
A business started by an immigrant that works to improve lives and will still take in those who can't afford their help so they can find family, belonging, and a way to improve their lives, and their health both mental and physical.
Imagine that?
We've given people technology simple enough that elementary students can use it but it's our fault that they refuse to learn how it works....

Seems like a growing trend, so what does the future hold with technology without the knowledge.
It's a future I won't be a part of most likely, but yeah... it's not looking bright.
Not sure if that was basically a subtle hint at something or what but I'm not buying in this time.
Sometimes I think it would be easier to fire the old people and hire new employees rather than try and get the employees here up to speed on even the basics of using computers.
But then I look at the skill level of the young people they hire.
Are they asking anything pertinent to actually working in a modern office in interviews?
Can we skip the "Explain this gap in your resume" and "What are you biggest weaknesses" type questions and ask something relevant like, "Have you ever used a VPN to work remotely?" or "Do you know how to set an autoresponse in Outlook?"
Maybe, "What versions of Windows operating systems have you used regularly?"
I could go on, but I doubt there's a point to it.
I'll go back to teaching people that they don't need a computer in the office waiting for them just to work remotely.
Counting down the days until our cost of living bump hits.
Going to need every penny with the way this nation is now dysfunctioning.
