I think we're going to head to lakeside and photograph what havoc the winds have wrought.
To the tower!
...a past acquaintance reached out to me on Facebook last night - a woman who used to work with my mother, and was trying to reach her.
I know this person from the past - her and her boyfriend actually went with my family to a concert many, many years ago when I was finishing high school. I had lunch with her a few times while attending college and we attended some business related events together. She is a couple years older than I am and was into her career at a time when I was just finding my way into adulthood.
In the course of our conversation we talked about the paths our lives have taken - we both have three kids, one girl being the oldest and two boys. Her children, quite similarly, are all only a couple years older than each of mine all in about the same distance in years between them.
She also mentioned to me a reference to her late husband. Inquiring a bit further, she directed me to a memorial to him on his former employer's website. He was 39 and succumbed to cancer. His children then would have been just a bit younger than mine are now....
...it is one of those moments of self realization... I can't imagine my children having to endure this. I can't imagine what his family had to endure with him...
My heart is a bit heavier right now and probably will be for a while as I ponder this... mortality and the unpredictability of life.

I can only speak as one left behind. Nothing will ever be the same, and neither will I.
I have to second the above comment. As a daughter who lost her father to cancer, even as an adult, it was and still is difficult. I hope there is something for them to remember him by, for when they are older, they can look back at it and remember who he was and how much he loved his children.
That's one of the most difficult things for a child to endure, the loss of a parent at a young age.
I feel productive today - just because I finished cleaning the chicken coop and I know they will get to have a little time in a clean, soft bed of shavings.
Before they completely ruin it.
But that is part of raising chickens. The layers are nice chickens - all seem to be of good temperament.
Friday I get the broilers that Morri and I will raise here for a couple months. I do enjoy having them around. Considering getting a layer or two to keep here as well, but I don't know if I want chickens year round in two places.
I would love to just have a farm. Raise chickens, pigs, turkeys and maybe some cows. Have some acreage to garden and raise my own fruits and vegetables. Maybe some areas for wine grapes and blueberries... I guess that would be one of my goals for the future - to have a place like that.

The government should just give money to people who live off of the land and don't bother anyone.
Are you kidding? They would probably want to find a way to tax rain and cow manure as income...
I can see it, and it's beaut, Clark. lol
But seriously, it sounds amazing. You would be so good at farming, overalls and all.
...easy for you to say.
DAMMIT!
Okay, I give up- it was supposed to be the youtube clip of the Green Acres theme, but some reason I cannot get it to show on this page- so, there ya go, do with it what you will...lol
You can't embed video into journal comments.
I don't think that is specified anywhere, but you just can't do it.
Coffee? COFFEE?
I think it is ready!

...last night, a casual acquaintance asked me if I would be interested in photographing a wedding... a friend of a friend of a friend that I met at a party back in December... she is studying to be a fashion designer and we struck up a conversation about photography, fashion, modeling, etc... we connected on Facebook, kept in touch and will someday collaborate on a shoot...
...one of the grad-student assistant professors that she is friends with is getting married and said she doesn't want the typical wedding pose.. pose.. pose... pose... kind of photos. My acquaintance thought of me and asked if I would shoot the wedding before she suggested me to her friend.
I'm game.
Now I have to convince Morri... :)
Hey, it would be nice to actually get a paying gig out of the photography work, for me!
COMMENTS
If the wedding invitations say, "Clothing optional, bring your own rope." I definitely want a copy of that disc. lol
B, you have an amazing, creative eye. Just do what you usually do and I have no doubt, everyone involved will be completely satisfied.
Congrats!! :D
I would love to see those pics-
...I think I'm just going to start sending this contract company invoices and interest fees based on my schedule. When they ask for information, but don't return calls.. or emails... or any messages. Yet when I use their online invoicing system they don't let me process the invoice because they say paperwork is missing. Paperwork that has been submitted... and re-submitted... and re-submitted... and re-submitted again.
And then when I call to find out why they're not responding or processing the paperwork... I'm on hold... 20 minutes... 30 minutes... 40 minutes...
*yawn*
I have other things to do. The work got done, the paperwork was sent, you'll receive an invoice based on the date the work was done. If it isn't paid in 30, you'll get another invoice for late fees. If you don't like it, call me when it's a good time for me to discuss it.
I don't have time for this shit.

Wow , no more Cooking shows with Birra and Morrigon? oh poo.
Been too busy lately. It's not a bad thing.
Never fails to amaze me how people like that want everything they want done, done right that damn minute, but somehow getting around to paying for it takes so damn much time....

So you're saying that NASA likes fat chicks? ;p
Fat, gassy chicks...
Fat gassy chicks with serious rosacea.....
Do they have gift cards for that?
Ahhh, Saturday. What mysterious plans have you scribed out for me in your web of wares?

Go outside and play- mini golf, go kart racing, anything- just get outside-
I have been threatened if I so much as glance at the playoffs- haven't watched the Canucks all year, and look where they are...lol
My male family members have threatened to lock me in a basement if I even think of looking at the games...lol
Just a few thoughts as the week winds down...
..my life would be made so much easier if any of the businesses I have to do business with did their jobs with a slight amount of consistency.
Like, FedEx for example. I can guarantee you, when they have something I need early in the day, they won't show up until very late. Wednesday they showed up at almost 7pm. Today, it's going on 4... still not here. I need what they're delivering and of course, I now have to step out of the office and I can't wait any longer.
Undoubtedly, they will show up right as I leave.
COMMENTS
FedEx = "When it absolutely, positively has to be there on time, kinda."
You have to read the fine print, B.
In the 20 minutes it took me to get the kids off the bus, I returned to a stack of packages at my office door...
...typical.
Morri was having some frustration yesterday and while she was writing checks her pen ceased writing. In a bit of frustration, she threw it and yelled, "You only have one job to do! F***ing do it!"
I can understand that completely. It is the way I have felt about most of my employees. For the most part, they have had one job. Only one job to do, yet most of them failed.
Pens or people, who can you rely on these days?
I am very happy and appreciative that I Morri and I found each other...
COMMENTS
Unfortunately the list of people that are reliable tends to fall short each and every day. The list grows.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Finally some useful advice for women!

I need an accessory-wall?
Notice how they didn't put in nipples? They obviously knew it had to be VR friendly...
Oh my god... None of this had better be repeated later tonight. None.
cmmon Morri.... you know you want to throw a ball at his head.... hahahahaha
As much as I hate to say this...*Face Palm* Did anyone else find this kind of really stupid in content? I am surprised they actually allowed that on TV. Birra you find the best stuff, I swear.
HA!
I might call a girl for a second date if she made me cookies during sex.
LOL
Awesome.
I don't think I have ever been more stunned in my life- I mean I make cookies for him, but not DURING- sorry, not even for Cancer- that's the equivalent of frying bacon in the nude- you catch one nipple in that oven door, and you're DONE...
Finally a decent use for an Easy-Bake Oven!
I pity the fool who takes the Onion seriously.. Ever.
... That has got to be the stupidest thing I've seen in awhile. o.o I'm so glad we get minimal American television. o.o
It's not a TV show - theonion.com is a website that makes media parodies.
*lifts the rock*
Oh my gawd... the Hot Tips...

And tea....or moo...can you imagine me on COFFEE??
You have great afternoon snacks. I never get an afternoon snack. What am I doing wrong?
I'm regressing to kindergarten, sans the little cartons of milk left on the radiator for 2 hours...
...Yeah... well, I'm old enough to remember the "before" MTV when HBO would play music videos and spoof-comedy as filler in between movies.
A lot of those early music videos, like everything by Styx for the Paradise Theater LP were played on HBO before MTV launched.
My brother and I would read the movie schedules, not to watch the movies, but to see when they ended in hopes that HBO would show music videos or parodies... this one was always one of my favorites:
COMMENTS
yeah, well...old.
LOL
we didn't have a television until I was 13. o.o
I remember these. I had to come back again to listen my sound went out and had to fix it, lol.
Quote: "...Yeah... well, I'm old enough to remember".... When Adam & Eve was walking around.
...so Morri had a photoshoot tonight, and the model of the evening brought her mom as a security blank... er.. I mean an escort.
The topic of conversation went from '80s music to the theatric production of '80s videos to MTV, when the model's mom said, "Oh, I'm old enough to remember when MTV first was on the air and they just played music videos..."
Glumly I thought to myself... yeah, I'm old enough to remember that too....
*sigh*
COMMENTS
*sigh* I'm right there with you Birra, only I wasn't aloud to watch it. I had to have my friends record HeadBanger's Ball for me on their Betamax... haha
I'm old enough to remember being too old for MTV when it came out first...
*sighs*
You're in good company.

ditto- add my old ass in too- I remember when HBO first went on the air with "The Exorcist"...
Gawd, I am old...
Hehe, me too. And they kept playing the same ones OVER AND OVER because that's all they had then. I still watched. The Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers video is the one I remember the most.
Video killed the Radio Star!
I'm old enough to remember the 1st video they showed, "Video Killed the Radio Star". I remember because I sat in front of my TV and watched it. Damn.
...afternoon snack of celery sticks and all natural Bleu Cheese... so crisp. So cool. So good.
All I need now are hot wings to go with it...
COMMENTS
Bleu Cheese ... so stinky ...
But delicious.
Especially this kind...
Life is better with hot wings. ♥
You couldn't help it could ya? Ya had to go a flesh it up.
Going to enjoy a nice, relaxing evening with friends.
Very much, incredibly needed.
Morri came up with the perfect domain name for our new project.
It's tough. So many good domain names out there have just been scooped up by hording companies so they can try and resell them at a profit later.
Domains are like internet real-estate. They're a valuable address or a place no one wants to go.
I think with this one, we're movin' on up to the condo in the sky.
Ain't that right, Weezy?
