darkness wraps the earth
he walks only in shadows
he makes not a sound
he nears a victim
she is beautiful to him
inhales her sweet scent
she fears his presence
fears it and welcomes it near
she knows what he is
he can give her peace
and she can give him her life
he wraps around her
peace flows into her
from his ragged, lost, dark soul
she slips from his arms
staring down at her
sees the peace steal over her
he begins to cry
The world is so heavy.
It makes it hard to breathe.
In and out, I tell myself, then maybe
I'll make it another day.
God's beautiful sunlight burns my eyes.
They can only rest in the dark.
He seems to no longer hear my cries.
Has He forsaken me too?
Precious night, when all the world slows down,
Is the only time I am at peace.
Quiet, restful, without a sound,
Gratefully, I meditate.
I can throw off the weight of the world
And say I will carry you no more.
The next day, the sun rises as a giant pearl,
And I lift up my world again.
Just breathe in and out...
