Not really looking forward to the weekend as it is Father’s Day I went to a local flower nursery. It is a family owned business and our family has shopped there for years. The first plant that went into the yard of my own home came from there, as well as most of my trees. Mothers Day gift, herbs, wind chimes and yard statues have joined the list over the years. Just a nice family place with people who will help you anyway they can, even if you don’t buy anything.
The store is a log cabin with their personal home right next door. You pull up and dogs, cats will come to greet you for just a pat or scratch behind the ears. You can tell they never turn down an animal in need of a home. As you walk along the rows of flowers, statues, and water running water fountains you can not help but relax.
Weeks ago I asked the owner, a woman in her 60’s, if I could take some pictures around the place and she said she would love it if I would. She said she could never take a good picture. So Friday I went to take a few, meeting a crowd as people go to the place to visit, to even just seat and read in the little hidden seats hidden around the place.
I found a few things I did not know were there before as she invited me into her private garden behind her home. Lovely place that you can just feel the peace she has put into the place with each flower.
I promised to bring her the pictures, good or bad as I left her. She invites me back for some tea and a chat anytime I wish to come. I think she knew I was upset as she told me to remember my dad, the good time we had together. I swear- that woman can read people, she knew I needed to share in the peace she and her place offers me. Here are some of the pictures I took yesterday.
