The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Well today went better than I expected. I wanted to do this on Monday- giving the men two weeks notice we are closing the doors.



But then the job cancel for Monday. One of the guys came in to wash the truck but I didn't want to only tell the one. Second hand/ re telling of what I said. No- this is one you need to tell face to face.



Tuesday job, but today the two men that are the oldest work hands came in to just clean up the buildings, sweep, throw some packing that gotten wet, little things.



Perfect time for us to have a meeting. Just a face to face to tell them what was going on, how we closing the doors at the end of the month.



Really..... I think they took it better then me. lol



You have to understand- these guys have stayed with me over the years, when you got 20 hours a week and call it a 'busy week'.



They handle the lack of work, sticked it out with me. They are like family.



I am paying them a 40 hour week as severance pay. Letter of recommendation. And told them to sign up for unemployment as long as they want, will not fight it.



I have made flyer to put in local U-Haul/ Rental trucks places to help them get cashers to load/ unload trucks.



And since I am keeping the office phone on a few more months as I collect bills- will pass on any calls for cash labor to them.



Really- done all I can to help them find another job.



Reason we are closing?



Many many many reasons.



But the family business that started in 1948 is coming to a close.



And afer 32 years of doing the same job.... at 50 years old this year it is a new start.

I have to say that is truly heartbreaking. I really hate to see family businesses close down, but I wish you much success and happiness in your future endeavors.

You did everything you could. I remember reading some of your entries about the business, those employees seemed like family. I hope you are ok.

Starting fresh is something I know better than I should. Exciting and scary but I hope you will have fun with it.
