The company IT guy turned to me and said, "I love Halloween. My girlfriend and I are, like, Goth..."
Without hesitating, I interrupted; "Terrific! My wife and I are Vandals. Prepare for battle."
This statement usually leads to laughter or dead silence. In this particular instance, it was DEAD SILENCE, followed by a "Uh, what?"
See, dear reader, I like to pretend I don't understand this whole Goth thing. I can just shake my head as my father used to do and mutter "oh, you kids and your black clothes..." and people will patiently explain to me what they mean by Goth -- as if I don't know.
It's not that I don't know; it's that I no longer care.
