You know, nerdy or not I watch that show Wheel of Fortune sometimes. It's on right at that time when you finally get to sit down for a minute at home, and its cheaper to watch it than play it on the crack machine at the local bar.

That being said, it occured to me that The Wheel is very discriminatory in who they select as contestants. I always try to pick out my favorite person, but it always comes back to the idea that none of these people 'really' need the money...I mean not like how some other people do. I think Wheel of Fortune should expand their themed contestant weeks to include those who REALLY need money. For example, they host 'college week'. College kids maybe can use the money now, but lets face it, most of them will blow it on beer bongs and ecstacy whilst continuing on towards a future of higher returns. Wouldn't it be more productive to have 'College Drop-out Week'? Look, the words could be easy to spell and could go right along with the theme of the week. For instance:

Photobucket

Or what about this! Ladies does this sound familiar...Photobucket

"The Fuck You Ain't!" Photobucket and get your ass up and win that baby some money on "Wheel of Fortune Baby Daddy Week!"

It's a brilliant plan really, and the list goes on and on with people who could really use...hell even an extra 10 dollars.

What about "Redneck Week" using of course, idioms particular to the subculture...

Photobucket

On "Burned Out Stoner Week" you could just ask questions about heavy metal and 80's hair bands...

Photobucket

And so on and so forth. Here is a short list of topics to think about, the fun (and humanitarian effort) could last all year!

-I Just Snuck Across The Border Week

-I Lost My Fuckin Health Insurance Week

-Low-Paying Service Industry Job Week

-Broke-Down Ho Week

-I'm Addicted To The Internet and Cant Hold a Job Week (these contestants may not show up come to think about it)

Well, that's my input, I am realizing that the list is never-ending. Damn the Wheel, damn them.

My Very Own Mean-ish Stamp

The general forum has made me consider that I should start using a stamp to close threads. I almost used it on one, but Stabb spared me and closed it first.

My Mother With a Twist Of Crazy

So, I found myself lecturing my dog today, " You need to eat your food. Don't you know that in China dogs don't need food...they ARE food!".

My mother would be so proud. But confused. Maybe not proud, just confused.

Actions Speak Louder Than Bombs

"Today I blocked all traffic that originates from China and Korea. To the best of my knowledge, we have no legitimate users from China, and little if any from Korea.

This was done to reduce spam and other undesirable traffic that originates from these two countries. Almost 85% of the spam the VR server receives comes from China."

Finally somebody stands up against the Red menace! Nancy Pelosi and ineffective cronies take notes!

Comes back to what I always tell my students, learn your history and your civic responsibilities or learn Chinese.

Damn straight.

No, Liebe, the opposite! That by studying traditional Chinese medicine you might be spared in the upcoming and inevitable Chinese purge. Anything you can do to prove your sympathies to the masters will be helpful. Then again, you are bordering on Canadianese so you are probably already safer.

Some Days...

02:42 Apr 02 2008
Times Read: 1,011

So, I have been moody and upset the last couple of days which rarely happens to me. First of all is a stupid cold. I don't do well being sick, I'm not good at it, and I get mad about being sick. Anyway, the big thing is my dog.

When we were researching the type of dog we wanted I knew she would have qualities of a guard dog...some barking, some protectiveness, fine. Actually, a good thing considering I used to work a lot of nights and wanted my house to be safe. She is a smart dog, and generally well behaved. We started training her from an early age: and when she is inside with us she responds very well. When she is outside for walks or runs, she responds to "come" pretty well, I'd say with like a 2 second delay. BUT when she is in the yard and someone is walking by and she starts barking there is no stopping her. She won't listen. If you yell to get her to respond, you sound as crazy as she does and neither of us are big yelling people.

So, the other day we are going to take her out with us. She is leashed and jumps up into the backseat, whereupon K is standing in front of the door (in front of her, undoing the leash for her car ride, but the door is open) I was facing the car too so I didnt see the two people walking down the sidewalk. The dog leaps out of the backseat and charges the people (two girls in baseball hats) I'm telling you she sounds vicious, she is little so circling around them snarling and whatnot. We end up grabbing the dog and one of the girls says she is bit. She pulls up her pant leg and you can't see anything, she doesnt even think it broke the skin. We give her the information that our dog has had shots and contact info and all that.

So, the next day we try to see if anyone in our entire fucking town trains dogs. Nope. And to boot, obviously she has to go out sometimes to do her dog bathroom thing, so now we have her in a muzzle. It's breaking my heart.

And you know what it is, its because we have a yard that is on a busy street. There is alot of foot traffic and I think these people are making her mean. We always try to watch her if we hear her bark to make sure people aren't fucking with her, but I think the damage has been done.

Just this morning, I hear her barking furiously, while muzzled, and I go to the window to see these two big...people (I'll leave it at that) standing on the corner taunting her. One is doing the taunting, the other looks like she is actually going to hit the dog. So, fuck, I barrell out there to avoid my having to actually kill them for hitting my dog.

I'm just really frustrated and have no idea how to bring the situation to a resolution. I think we are going to have to move, to get away from the general pedestrian public. But in the meantime, fuck.

while I don't like these stores, almost all of them offer pet training:

Petco

Petsmart

If not you can contact the local humane society and they will know of dog trainers. Good news is: YOU CAN still train her :D

17:12 Apr 02 2008

Yeah, Sah, the local McPet didn't have a trainer "on staff"; BUT we searched hi and low and did find two women that train, and she gets to go to school on the 23rd! yay...in the meantime, she gave us alot of good tips about how to deal with the yard. It involves us going out every time with her for now, giving her melatonin for stress, etc. I'm a believer that if there is an issue with my dog, it is my fault somehow, so its also my job to fix it. We may still have to move, or I may change out a portion of the back fence to give give her a more private area. (this is my first plan)

Giving her a little privacy might be helpful but she also needs to learn social behavior. Ten to 1, the people have made her a little paranoid, if they have done this time and time again. I feel for you dear, I hope it all works out.

I say take a club after the little shits, and let the dog watch.

O.o

Ok- maybe I am not the best to say anything on this.

I HATE people who are mean to a animal. I see a man slap a woman- woman should have the guts to step away or slap back. To leave the threat behind. A animal? They are trap, stuck with the fear and hurt.

I hope you put her in the backyard, and give her extra attention. Hug and kiss her nose for me, will you? :)

19:01 Apr 16 2008

Well, yes, we did rig something to the back fence so she cant get her head stuck in the gate AND she is taking good citizen doggy classes. Once we figured out this was a problem we took immediate action. Now that we know people can't get to her I don't give a crap if she barks her ass of at teenagers! We do, however, try to be mindful of the neighbors.
