Edward Weston was born in 1886 in Highland Park, Illinois. In 1903 Weston first had his photographs exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute. Soon after the San Francisco earthquake and fire on April 19, 1906, Weston came to California to work as a surveyor for San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. Weston returned to Chicago and attended the Illinois College of Photography, but came back to California in 1908 where he became a founding member of the Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles. He married Flora Chandler in 1909. Weston had his own portrait studio in Tropico, California and also began to have articles published in magazines such as American Photography, Photo Era and Photo-Miniature where his article entitled "Weston's Methods" on unconventional portraiture appeared in September, 1917.

Imogen Cunningham began to take photographs in 1901 while she was a student at the University of Washington. She was attracted to photography by the work of Gertrude Kasebier, who was a known "pictorialist". Her career began with a part time job in the Seattle studio of Edward S. Curtis, more famous for his remarkable documentation of the North American Indian than for the portrait work from which he made his living. There she learned to make platinum prints in both quantity and quality. She won a scholarship for foreign study and attended photographic courses at the Technische Hochschule in Dresden Germany, in 1909. From both she gained great inspiration. On returning home she opened a studio in Seattle, and soon won national recognition not only for her portraits but for her pictorial work. A portfolio of these pictures was published in Wilson’s Photographic Magazine in March, 1914.

Karl Blossfeldt was a botanist and photographer in turn-of-the-century Berlin. His entire photographic output is devoted to plant parts: twig ends, seed pods, tendrils, leaf buds, etc. These he carefully arranged against stark backgrounds and photographed in magnification, so that unfamiliar shapes from the messy world are revealed as elegant architectural forms. His pictures influenced many architects and decorative artists of his time.Blossfeldt was deeply interested in forms and textures that nature uses over and over again. His photos also show a preoccupation for formal elements of beauty, regardless of where they may occur.

Nobody can tell about someone elses life without first knowing how it was lived. Often people judge others without even knowing their name non the less how they act or feel. Misjudging people and certin thoughts and decisions we very common but people do them without thought. Not taking into consideration that they themselves may very well be wrong or hypricitical. A women named Helen has died, and has become Light. She can choose her hosts but only once they are about to pass, or if she wishes to. She does not remember her past life, but only the hell she goes through when she leaves one of her hosts. A coldness so intense, and flooding waters consuming, until death. Her current host Mr Brown is a school teacher and she follows him every day, home and back ever since he was a teenager. Up until today nobody was able to see her except one boy. "he turned his head and looked back into the corner of the room where I stood"15 Moving forward is what can get someone away from whats bothering them, but standing in one place and arguing about the same old thing will keep you from where you want and need to be. Being misjudged is a pain that every single being has and will endure, but the most important part is to stick with what you have and just know that no matter what people do overcome whats bothering them at the time. Take a note and decide if its worth making fun or pre judging another person.
As twilight surrounds half the world, that half wakes up with the same thoughts and worries on their minds about the things that they have to do and the people they have to deal with. Among each and every person there is one that they try to avoid. Almost at all costs they avoid them either they are embarassed of them or its a bully type thing. There are probably more but that goes without say. Helen has found a new host, he use to be Light too but a body had been vacated and he saved it. Helen and James become close and aquainted and want to be with one another in the physical form. They set out to find Helen a body for her to move into. At the mall they see a lady and decide on her only to find out its a bad choice. "The hand I possessed only jerked into the air and then gripped the sink as I fought for the use of it" 107 The evils inside only fight when someone good could happen. To take over what people know is right to somehow blow it all away, based on the badness and the upsetting things they say to one another, not know the concenquences of their actions. They learn nothing from their or anyone elses mistakes therefor the cisies burn ald everything is ash on the ground, being blown in every which way and not to be repaired as it has so many times in the past.
Your soul is never set in stone, nor is the path to kowing what is right. From childhood people were taught "treat others as you would like to be treated" but as much as people would like to think they do just that, they do not. Now that there are more jobs and people and worries nobody takes time to think about much besides what they need to do, when they need to do it and for how long. Helen and James find a young girl by the name of Jenny to be Helens new body. Jenny apparently went to Billy's school (James went into Billys body) so the match was great. Helen had sliped into Jennys body while Jenny and the fellow church people were at a picknic and were praying. She passed out to see all these people around her asking if she had had a vision. Helen goes to Jennys home and looks around searching the house. In the morning she has to go to school and is looking for her backpack. She gets to school and asks for a schedule and looks for James. "He froze when he saw Jenny's face"135 In the hopes of redeeming peoples thoughts and actions during the day, often times they would do something to take the stress off, or look for something important. An ease of pain or discomfort, some kind of thing or way to just erase or forget. Wouldnt think another person would do the same exact thing as the other if they both looked completely different from one another. Judge. Its best not to do that, most likely whoever does is wrong or doesnt seel the real meaning, wouldnt know the real meaning of anything if someone couldnt step into another persons shoes and expierence it, or be able to see it or put it in different terms of understanding.
The rabit takes off running its heart out going as fast as it can, and yet the turtle is still at the starting line. Slowly as the hours pass the turtle reaches to where the rabbit was taking a nap and passes him. Before the turtle gets to the finish line the rabbit starts to run again but it too late and loses. The rabbit thought he could beat the turtle just because he was a turtle and was slow upon land, and that he, the rabbit could win because he was fast. Helen has seen Mr. Brown and decides to let him know how sorry she was for leaving him without saying goodbye. The problem is, is that she was Light then and nobody could see her. She was his Muse. Ever since she left he has not written anything for his novel. She decides to write him a letter and give it to him during his free period. She is panackinging and is nervouse, he asks who is there and yet she doesnt say anything to indicate that shes their. She started to read him her letter that she had made. "Dear sir, I was called away and couldn't bring you, but now I feel haunted"156 Throw something in the watter and most likely someone would say it sinks, just because it is water, when despite their assumption it floats on top of the water and the person ends up feeling like the fool. More than once this would happen along the day, but this "If i were a plastic bag and landed into the water, would I float or would I sink?" And then maybe, just maybe people wouldnt end up feeling like they misjudged a situation, think you are the person or object, either one you dont really know but they can get a good idea.
A girl who comes to school every day, does her work and gets decent grades and is passionate about English, has a deep deep problem. People can see the sadness on her face and its obvious that there is something wrong but they dont know a thing and assume she is having a bad day or that she is annoyed with the other kids. She has problems with drugs and cutting and yet nobody knows. Not even the people closest to her. Then shes gone. Dead, and people say what a shame, and they cry. But they assume that she was suicidal, they assume many many things and yet know nothing. Not until they can walk inside her shoes and know what was truly wrong. Things grow serious between Helen and James and they plan on running away with one another despite that they are not in their right bodies. They were in a school assembaly and were waiting to get out but were talking. "I'd dig ditches for you" 199Replacing what people know with what the feel at that time can and will make simple little choices the hardst to answer and make tasks hard to complete. They wonder what they appear like to others and yet they dont t hink, maybe others think the same as them? People dont know how good they have it. To be alive now with free choices and being able to do all these things with life, in comparason when people from the 1800's and back to 50 years ago didnt have a choice. Of they were in the past peoples shoes they would think different.
From time and expierence the world changes and learns new things about themselves and others more and more during the course of time. There is no saying that humand will change completely but little by little they will learn and be reminded that they cannot possible be here without knowing that others live like them and others know things like they do despite their appearence, or if they exist or not. Helen and James both give back their bodies to the original souls who were in them before. They meet on the other side as Light but only after enduring their hells. Helen gets to see her child live insted of being struck down by lightning and sees her family line. Everything is wonderful and everyone has a happy ending. We as a society learn new things every day. We take big steps insted of little ones and then we find outselves 2 big steps back and knocked to the ground. We dont take time to understand people or things and because of that we dont get things done like they should be done or we dont know how to do them. I have learned to try to relate to more people by using what I know insted of being kept locked inside a comfort zone. Nobody can quite change unless they want to but over time everyone can learn from one another.
Lucy and Jack had been High School Sweethearts. Ever since their freshman year they have been with one another and had always loved eachother. The first time they kisses wasnt until their Junior year, and it had been at the Junior Hall Festavil that their high school celebrated every year. In that moment when the fire works went off and the night sky shone bright with colors and stars, as they leaned into the first kiss they would share with one another they both thought to themselves "This is the one" Ever since then they have been un-seperable. Every girl shone with envy when they say Lucy, she had been the school beauty. Typical cheerleader captian and school president, with a 4.0 and could get an early admission to any college of her choice. And Jack had been the pro star jock, with the grades, looks, talent and the attitude to make any man jealouse and any girl fluster with one quick smile. Their senior year, they had applied to the same college in Weston New York. Both of them had gotten in on scholoships and were there for four years. Their homes were big and fancy and their parents were best friends ever since they had met one another. One day Jack hadnt come home for a week. Lucy was worried sick about him, he had not answered his cell phone nor did she know where he would have gone.
In the middle of the night as Lucy was sleeping on the couch by the front entrance, Jack had snuck inside and walked over to where Lucy was sleeping and kissed her forhead gently. She woke up with a start and when she relized it was him she threw her arms around him and cried. He couldnt help but smile and ask her what was wrong. She stoped and looked into his eyes, and he just smiled as if it were a normal thing. She did not ask any questions for she was far to relieved that nothing had happened to him. They climbed the stairs and went to sleep, his arms wraped around her. As the morning came around Jack had already woken up and was making breakfast. Lucy got ready and walked down stairs to fine roses everywhere and a table with a gold silk table cloth on it and two wine glasses set upon it with plates full of fruit and small cakes. She smiled and wondered what the special occasion was. She thought hard but could not figure out what this was all about. Music started to play in the backround and Jack came walking in a black suite and smiled at Lucy. "How do you like it?" he asked, with a silly boyish grin spread upon his face. She was flustered and stared. "I.... I... What is all this? Everything is so beautiful..." She gasped as he kneeled down on his right knee and breount out a small black velvet box and opened it. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring with a white gold band. The light hit the diamons wonderfully making the ring look even more beautiful. "You and I have been with one another for a long time. And ever since I layed eyes on you I knew you were the one for me. We still might be young if you can call 25 young, but I love you Lucy and it would mean the world to me if you would merry me" Jack said all this with a face holding back tears. Lucy smiled kneeled down and threw her arms around him and kissed him. "Yes! Yes I will merry you, Oh Jack I love you so much!"
Lucy and Jacks mother were thrilled when they heard the news and that they were to plan the wedding. Lucy had decided to have a Spring wedding, the start of everything new and everything beautiful. They were to have it outdoors and all friends and family were to come and join to see the two sweethearts get married. Everything had been perfect. Her dress was the beautiful princess dress with a long 14 foot train and a beautiful diamond necklace to top everything off.

I am sitting in a room full of mirrors. The reflection that I see is not the one that I would like to look at every waking day of my life. In this room there is nothing but posters and one lone piece of furniture. A mattress sitting on a floor full of clothes, and a window that id broken and it covered with tarp just to keep out the rain. There is no light in here, nor is there any kind of air. It’s like an air tight bag with a stranded piece of something just waiting to be let go and set free. The sounds are different here, its all like you are under water and anything that moves makes your ears pound. There is a piece of cardboard sitting on the floor next to the mattress; it has a face on it. There is nothing really special about the cardboard but the face is really interesting. I have no idea how it could have gotten there, nor would I have made such a thing myself. You can barely see anything in this room. If you were in here at night just looking at your feet you would probably go blind or crazy for that matter. It smells like something. Have you ever gone to some shopping place and smelled something kind of weird, like a fusion of two things and you do not know what it is? Yeah it’s kind of like that. I dont know what time it is right now, it could be noon or night but i wouldnt know, my clock was stolen the other week. Yes someone took a clock out of my house, or something. The other day i saw a rat the size of a football scurry across the living room, went from behind the t.v with the hanger on top of it as an intenna to the other side of the house. I saw it run throuch the little hole in the wall. Of course its not little is a rat like that can fit through it but still i saw it. Oh I forot where I was, well yes, oh yes the clock, i bet you the rat took ir and is stowing it away inside a wall somewhere or sold it to a few squirles in return that he gets a place to crash while hes looting other houses for the goods. Just like the Mafia, how they used all the stuff they stole to pay off cops and whatnot.
Back to the room, I dont think that it is a room at all to tell you the truth. I have spent hours in here just sitting and listening to the same music day in and day out and nobody ever came and told me what to do. I work and come here to an empty house (except for the rat... or rats) and get a can of beans and eat them then sit down in the green couch with so many holes and springs poking through them and watch a black and white tv that is so fuzzy i make up my own words and show titles along with the characters. I remember one day I came back from school and sat down in the kitchen table with two wicker chairs and a red and white checkered table cloth with grease stains all over is, my mother was yelling about something. She said that this was all too much for her and that she never asked for this kind of life, and how my father was a pig, he wasnt a man at all but a heartless monster with no backbone. I did not know what she ment by all this I just sat there while she cooked and yelled over the raido while Jay & The Americans- Come A Little Bit Closer played. I could remember the bacon smell, as soon as the night came and i slept on an air matress in the same room, except there was nothing in it at all, I could hear foot steps and a door close. When i woke up my mother was gone and there was nothing left except the table, food, and a few magazines. She had left me there, since then I have been on my own and every time i felt like i needed to get away from this house that had no heart or soul, i walked outside down the street over to the river where the older kids had built a tree house over the river. There was a raido there and i would sit for hours listening to Kyu Sakamoto- Sukiyaki, and Frank Sinatra. I felt safe and like i belonged, no rats or secret compartments that the squirly spys would sit in and spy on me on all day long, no no no only the treehouse, the sound of the river and the sun or moonlight. In any case at all I suppose you could say that I have nothing much, but one thing that I do have is my own life. There isnt much to it except just do what I have to do every day. But when i et home and step into this room, drop my over shirt on the floor and fall onto the bed while at the same time almost getting a concussion from hitting the wall behind it, I will always find what I need. An anwser to any question is within yourself, like if i ever needed to know where to find that clock, id know where to go and get it but who needs a clock? I tell my teachers that the squirls have it and wont give it back, and do you know what they tell me? Huh do you? They dont say anything they just look at me, sigh and then shake their head while pointing for me to go to my desk.
Now when i hear a song like The Drifters- On Broadway, i can think about all those famous people who prance about weaing those clothes and whatnot that cost thousnds of dollars, when you can get the exact same thing at The Goodwill for like 4 dollars! How dumb are they huh? Who needs shiny rocks all over your finers and neck, and all that material that is see through? Now im sure thing might just be me but I do have to say that things such as that is silly. You can get bottle caps and wear those and all you need is a bottle of pop. I just dont know about people now and days, if only they could see how much easier it is to live life without all that fancy stuff, how much more loving people could be. Well maybe not the last part. One time I walked into a store, i guess I wasnt suppose to be there but this really heavy old lady with purple fur all around her body looked at me funny and shouted and hit me with her purse when i started to hit her furry pet that was crawlin around her neck. I told her it would kill her, that the thing was moving and that the aliens were controlling it but she just freaked out and then she fainted and landed on top of me!! I couldnt breath but then some old old old man who, to my and everyone elses suprise pulled the old lady off of me. I swear I saw my life just flash by in my mind, I was in the war and everything, i even battled dragons and worked in the circus with elephants and tigars and a bearded lady. But now, im all alone in this room with a faded grey shaggy carpet that when you touch it is all sticky. I dont know why it is. I think that a muck monster came and tried to capture me in my sleep. But i wouldnt know maybe the rats would know. Them and the squirles are spys, maybe they saw him. I just dont know. You know, i tried to keep this one little puppy. I had named him Rocky because he had one black eye like Rockey did when he was in that boxing fight you know? Remember that movie with that... Sly dude? I dont remember his name but the puppy always barked and bit my ear whenever he had to go to the bathroom. I brough him to school one time and the teacher called the pound people and they took him! They said it wasnt right and that I couldnt keep him. I thought they were wrong but they took poor little Rockey away from me. I can see something movine across the room- ITS THE RAT! Im going to go and get him, see who steals my stuff again! Hahahaha, goodybye.
