Golden Rule: keep your mouth shut

22:51 May 24 2016

I have a friend, who just ruined a relationship because she opened her mouth.

First, you do not always know everything about someone else's relationship. So you had no right putting in your opinion.

Second, your opinion wasn't even asked.

Third, just because someone has multiple profiles does not mean they will be unfaithful or lie or whatever evil thing you think they will do.

Finally - IT IS THEIR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! If they want a long distance relationship, an online relationship, or whatever...its their business and no one else's!!!

And you are saying to yourself "what if I am right?" "what if she breaks his heart?" "what if she has a boyfriend for each profile?"

Well "what ifs" don't mean a thing!!

Live and learn....that's how relationships are. You cannot save someone from a relationship...one - they just might shoot the messenger and you lose a friend. two - you could be right but you still get blamed for something and the friendship is strained. or three - just maybe it will work out and your friendship will stay intact and but they still get hurt because of your warning. And there are many other outcomes.

So no matter how you look at it at least one person will end up hurt because you put yourself in someone else's personal business.

SO JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

Its NEVER wise to get in the middle of a friends relationship, even if you HATE the person they are with. Your job as a friend is to let them be and just be there if and when your friend needs it.

So true, I agree.

End of the semester...

This semester was a rough one in so many ways. I started out with a job loss and a purchase of a new house. Over 6 months without a job so I through myself into my schooling. I had signed up for practicum this semester which required 100 hours of counseling (group and individual). On Saturdays I would do the individual counseling and on Sundays I worked at the local bereavement center to get the group hours in. Just two more weekends left and I have grown not just professionally but on a personal level as well.

I started the semester with a lot of stress, especially since I never truly processed the death of Momma Sheryl. Working with those kids at the Bereavement Center taught me so much and at the same time allowed me to accept that Momma is gone. I know she will always be in my heart and the life lessons she taught me, I can teach my kids, and therefore, she will live on always.

With the individual counseling I ran into familiar territory and unfamiliar territory. I learned a lot about counter transference and in turn realized that I have more strengths than I thought. It was very hard yet rewarding to counsel someone who survived domestic violence (as I have lived through that experience as well). It was a challenge to counsel someone who was very judgmental about women and believed that we are all "lying whores". And to be exposed to culturally diverse situations just expanded my world view and I absorbed it all like a sponge and welcomed all the new knowledge.

I finish this semester with confidence that I am in the right field of work. And I found a new job that I love. I am now a Case Manager for AKA Heart To Home working with intellectually disabled individuals. I still have about 8 classes and 2 internships to complete before I graduate. Hopefully I can knock out 3 classes this summer.....
