Common Herbal Remedies

.For sleep and easing anxiety: Valerian Root Tea- you can buy this tea over the counter most of the time, or order online- alternatively you can order the raw herb and use a tea ball or grow your own! It smells AWFUL and doesn’t taste well either, I use honey to sweeten but you cannot beat its effects short of a shot of morphine!

.For burns: Lavender balm- heat up beeswax in a 325F oven until its liquid, add about half cup of lavender essential oil, and let heat up for about 30 mins, let sit until balm consistency. Use on burns and other topical ailments. Alternatively you can add the oil to Crisco, or petroleum jelly

.Breathing issues associated with colds/flu even asthma: I like to make a steamer on the stove top- put a couple inches of water in a pot and boil eucalyptus leaves and/or any variety of mint leaves as well as a few drops of eucalyptus oil – when it comes to a rolling boil hang your face over the pot and cover with a towel and breath in the steam, INSTANT relief!

.Tummy upsets: PEPPERMINT TEA- there is a reason restaurants give you peppermints, it settles the stomach! And it’s delicious. You can also use nettles but they don’t taste as good!

.Hemorrhoids. The dirty word. If you are a woman who has had children, you know the pain these suckers cause. Best remedy I’ve found is gauze soaked in Witch Hazel applied to affected area. Wet yes….they make liners for that! LOL, but instant relief that lasts.

.Acne: surprisingly a decoction of rosemary. Rosemary has anti-bacterial properties. You need A LOT of rosemary so if you don’t have a shrub at the ready it can be pricey, but half a cup of rosemary per 1 cup of water, boil that up and apply at night before bed.

.Period Pains: Yes more graphic womanly problems. Sorry males! For this, Rosehip tea works wonders. As does raspberry leaf and angelica root. Also a heating pad applied to abdomen. Lots of pamprin LOL.

.Headaches: Headaches get us all sometimes. Apply peppermint oil to your hairline or have some ginger tea!
