One of the many songs that makes my soul travel.

The official lyrics are difficult if not impossible to find, and yes, I mean for the original version; I don't mean for Old Crow Medicine Show's version. This particular recording came from when the song was still being written and created; other musicians will recognize how awesome it is to hear the iconic and legendary artist's jam sessions.

One interpretation of the lyrics is as follows:

You don’t know it and I’ll come by and by

You’ll find lookin’ on the road tonight

I don’t carry a bucket for the road to ride

No how

Hey, my mama, did you say, “Goodbye”?

Willed and wicked, and I’m wondering why

I know it’s alright, but I don’t cry

Nowhere

Rock me, mama, through the wind and the rain

Rock me, mama, like a southbound train

Hey, mama, rock me

Rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel

Rock me, mama, any way you feel

Hey, mama, rock me

Go child runnin’ on the Rio Grande

Stars lie dotted on the Promised Land

It’s all well talkin’ and I understand, rollin’

When I look out on the road tonight

The world is shinin’ on a cold, dark light

And oh that feeling, but it must be right, I’m rollin’
