In the vein of the previous post:
Now Playing
The Allman Brothers Band (live with eric clapton, 1970) - Little Wing [jimi hendrix cover]
That aught to cover it. Swisgar Squigelf gives his "every band" seal of approval.
As those who know me know, music has long shaped a deeply, richly, crucially wide swath of myself. Long enough, I can say, that I could have said the same the day I wrote the words on my profile page.
As one may have gathered reading those words, they were written in a sad and bitter time. Somehow, during that time, I lost my link to sound.
I may as well have lost my link to emotion itself. For me, it is much the same. In ways I can't really explain, to an extent that would sound like money to any psychiatrist, my experience of the latter is woven utterly into my experience of the former. That time has passed, though scars remain. The slow healing of one such scar has been my re-discovery of music.
Electronica of this or that variety (I play psychedelic trance), extreme metal, and post-rock have been my primary spheres of genre throughout my adult life. However, I must be growing up-er, as I've been more and more finding wonder and enjoyment in 70's and 80's rock.
The Police. James Taylor. Eric Clapton (especially as Derek and the Dominoes). The Allman Brothers. Fleetwood Mac.
Part of this is folded into my latest speaker system's wonderful treatment of lossless analogue recordings (ysm1p studio monitors, for the curious). Part of this is childhood nostalgia. Part of this is a welcome change of pace from many years' habits. Part of this is a laundry list of other factors, I'm sure.
I don't care. I'm hearing with my soul again.
(incidentally, how did Fleetwood Mac *ever* get away with being labelled "radio friendly"? Look up the lyrics to "second hand news". Keep their raging drug addictions in the back of your mind as you read them)

Before you know it, you'll be drinking iced tea :)

It's funny, you know... I'll drink iced tea out of a can, largely on the grounds that whatever it tastes like isn't tea. But if you take good actual tea and put it in your refridgerator, you're a heretic.
And you are, Jo. I'm getting my torch and pitchfork right now.
