This is the image that hangs in my office and faces my desk. I LOVE that he is facing me and laughing. It reminds me of so many things, mostly that I'm human, loved and shouldn't take myself so seriously. Also, there is much to be joyful about in this life and I plan to laugh as much as I can.
For my friends, when you hear me say, "Shhh...Jesus is looking," this is what I'm referencing :)
I'm feeling romantic and day dreamy. The Center has been lovely today, nothing very difficult. Welcome after yesterday's challenges and Tuesday which even necessitated an emergency 911 call. (The funniest part of which was that after being directed to give the address of my emergency, the dispatcher called my name. I affirmed and she worried out, "What's the matter, baby?!" My sister was working dispatch. It was a lovely Mayberry moment.)
Anyway, to my day dreamy mood. I have been listening to Wuthering Heights on audio book and I want to never hit the stop button. The draw that Heathcliff and Catherine feel for one another is not on the conscious level. They need each other the way living things need oxygen and light. Catherine proclaims, "...he's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."
My thoughts also turn, as they often do when I am musing around my day and sighing, to my dearly beloved Eliot and his words that are etched into the material of my soul. I know I have gushed on about this before, but in many ways, I live here. I don't think I have a friend who hasn't been drug by me through the streets of this poem.
The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.
My fantasy would be a profile designed around the images in Prufrock...his shabby town of sawdust floored restaurants and lonely men smoking pipes and leaning out of windows. Allusions of Hamlet's Polonius, tea, and mermaids..."and this and so much more."
Wistful me on an October afternoon, my body indoors, my mind everywhere else at once.

When I have time I can call my own again, I will have to work on such a profile for you:)
"Hey Sarah. Yeah, yeah... tell your cousin I said 'hey'. Can you get me my sister down at the courthouse?"
You're doing Andy Griffith in this entry...why?!
This is the last step. We're expecting to have them by about November 15. The cover art was designed specially for us. It depicts the Lakefront in my town. The bridge in the background is the Causeway. The little sheep in the front was based on a little guy that Stabb photographed in England. I could not be happier. What a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary!

What great Yule gifts to give. :)
I hope it sells well.
All that hard work and long days ..it looks great.:D

Well said... We're all inspired by her.
Were more to follow in your footsteps the world would be the better for it.
I personally know this to be so very true. She is considerate, and generous- all the while asking for it not to be broadcast. This is how I raise my child to be :)
Wow, I found the Rats fan club ... I'm in.
*blushes*
Thank you. And I disagree with your words of not having a gift that is all your own. YOU care even more then me, doing the charity work every day.
That is a true southern lady.
:)
I wasn't being falsely modest. I have gifts, and they are good ones because God only gives good gifts to us all. Hospitality is not my gift. It is yours.
"hospitality is an abundant gift that simply extends from their soul." Very poignant indeed.
Having been friends over 20 years now all I can say is You are so very right and it comes right from her soul. Even when she worries it's more about how it's going to affect others than herself.
In carefully reading between your words I have found the confirmation to what I've always suspected about you, Joli. You really do like rats. ;-)
Everything about this is wonderful. The music and the video combine to make this an experience I feel as much as hear and see. It's an ache in my chest that is beautiful and profound.
Someone special shared it with me one evening and I wanted to have it here where I can play it any time I want.

Beautiful and terrible... Those two go hand in hand whenever the concept is most powerful... Or so they do in my mind.
At the end it looks like an angery allergy eye :)
Wow 6 times in the past. Sheesh. ~eyeballs Mars with longing~
What makes this powerful for me is less the concept of destruction and more the musical score and the production of this video with an eye to drama and beauty. For me, it is beautifully done and I can watch and listen over and over again.
WOW .... just wow!!
More often that one should, I hope this day comes soon.
Ctrl_Alt_Delete. Reboot.
Nothing left but the low drone and crackle of a cozy fire.
Great video.. but.. man, that would suck.
It begs the question, if a 500KM asteroid crashed into the Earth and erradicated all life that could hear it, did it make a sound?

I love that. I always imagine that guy as someone who would be a lot of fun to sit around and laugh with.

That really looks like the rest of the scene should be him standing on top of a pile of slain foes.

You're always confusing yourself with Jesus, Ockham! :P

If I recall correctly, he started laughing in 1945. Perhaps I should review history to see what was so funny. ;)

Hey, cracking George Carlin up would have been cool, too!

Now this is a side of Jesus that everyone especially children and teenagers should be made aware of instead of only the hellfire and brimstone as is so common. I cannot imagine anyone credited with creating so many wonders, would be so very serious all the time. :)

Lots of people do indeed mistake me for Jesus. It's sort of a curse, because they're like "Hey Jesus, make me some wine." And I have to tell them that all I have for them is a deep bowl of hatred. It's sad to have to bring disappointment to so many.

Don't be so modest, Ockham...we all have to work with the gifts we're given ;)

Somehow, I can't see Jesus reciting the 7 words you can't say on tv :P
