Whoo, long day. Glad to be home and in dry clothes. We were able to get the standing water up, but the floor is pretty wet. We will meet up tomorrow morning and hopefully with power, we can get fans and AC running to dry it all up. We picked up food an files and electronics before the storm, so that's wonderful.

TOmorrow we will know more about what we have lost. Pray that it's not the Sheetrock, but even if it is, we will manage. So many volunteers stopped in to help us. The important thing is to get open to serve the people who were affected and continue to experience the impact of this storm.

For now, I am having a bowl of chicken soup and a diet Dr Pepper. Ah, gratitude :)

WOke up early and got out to the Center quick as I could. We have a great crew of workers helping us to pick up, throw out, and get the water out. Got our claim in for the flood damage and aiming to open by Tuesday Or sooner, if possible. We'll need to help folks replace the food they lost.

We are trying to get a generator running so we can get fans running. It shouldn't take too lOng once we have that.

So grateful that our neighbors are safe. Pain in the butt that the gas stations aren't up for gasoline, and no power. It's all muscle-power right now. :)

Ohmigawd! Save me! Curse you, Hurricane Isaac. Look, if anyone can save me, hurry. For the lOve of all things holy, save me. I am trapped in a house with no electricity and nO television. Trapped INSIDE with Stabb's puns. Call FEMA. He just resorted to shampoo and soap puns, "I went to take toilet, but I was only pretending because it was a sham poo." Now do you see?

HelP. Me.

LOL...isn;t it interesting the things we find quirky and fun about the ones we love would drive us nuts by an acquaintance?

I see the problem here. You think I jest. He's running out of material. They BURN when he starts running out of material. Oh god, he's looking at the fireplace poker. He's tilting his head sideways. Must.brace.for.impact.

News report: Local lady is found screaming as she fled her home, her hubby causing her a break down with his puns after hours alone during Hurricane Isaac.

Just a hiccup

We're fine. Did a bit of cooking, parked the cars safely, got candles ready for when the lights go out, and we're hunkering down like everyone. Looks like rain is the worry, but we're gonna be just fine.

The coolest thing, though...I called City Hall and the secretary put me through to the mayor, who drove over to the Center 5 minutes later. I gave him the keys to our food bank so the first responders can get to it and feed people. They'll load it on a truck and bring it back if they don't need it. During Katrina, all our food became debris that couldn't help anyone. It was heart-breaking. I never want to see that happen again.

Also, in case of emergency, the Red Cross will turn our Center into a community clinic with inoculations, and other assistance. It was amazing to be in a position to be of further support to our community.

Take care, all. Looks like it'll start rocking and rolling around 1AM through most of tomorrow, but I don't anticipate much more than the inconvenience of power outage, and that's just part of the cost for living in this amazing part of our country. We'll be back up and running before you know it.
