I finally created a faceook profile. I really enjoy that site.
I also created a group there called Vampire Rave ROCKS! We have nine members already which is totally cool and I am glad that a few members actually posted to it.
It is nice to see another side to the folks here - their 'real' pictures sometimes and a completely different side to their personality such as where they attend school, etc.
I have to admit that I enjoy facebook much more than myspace for the reality based website.
Our Prince was even nice enough to allow me to use the VR logo for the picture there!
I do believe I have rated everything in the Vampire Database.
Go Me!
Now it's on to the Profiles and Portfolios.
I will be glad when Mr. Prince guy has the 'Sory Code' codes fixed so we can rate the unrated stuff there.
meh meh meh...
Yeah yeah yeah - I finally made SIRE!
I really didn't expect it - thought I was going to need to rate a ton of more things first - but the surprise was a nice thing considering some of the daily issues that I have been having lately *cough -money- cough*.
What should I say about being a Sire?
First: I am NOT starting my own coven or leaving my current one at all. I am exactly where I need to be on this site at this time in my life. Research for a PhD in Jacobite history is no picnic - let me assure you. And neither is the commitment to Vampire Rave. If one is made a Sire one has displayed comprehension of the VR system and has interacted with many of the Master Vamps, etc. by this point. They all do an extremely good job and work their asses off to maintain the status quo around here. The Prince, who is a GREAT guy who must have a delightful sense of humor and a bit of sarcasm mixed with dedication and knowledge has created a site that is HUGE and takes a great deal to maintain. Kudos to them ALL for their hard work.
Sires who run a coven have to make VR a priority most of the time and be willing to commit a significant amount of time to overseeing the coven and playing trading games, favor games, etc... with other covens and Houses. This can be quite an ordeal and I also applaud them for their dedication and time. We ALL have outside lives so the committment really is overwhelming.
As a PhD student - well I have an erratic schedule. I have had some down time the last few weeks as the semester wound down and I did reading and scribing for special needs students exams. I was able to be here and since the monsta is building his own huge websites and preparing to go offshore - wah :( - I have had time to come here and rate away - just rate rate rate! And look at the difference it made.
Second: Now all I can says is WOO HOO!
I have had a great time here so far - albiet a few bumps in the road from time to time. I won't rehash all that was happening this time last year when I was still relatively young to the site suffice to say that our Prince did an outstanding job in making imagesinwords, a truly great lady, the leader of Eternal. That seemed to shift the entire 'mood' (for lack of a better word at the moment) of the place to a more positive, less devisive medium.
Good job, Cancer - you have more than proven your wisdom to me over the last year and half or so....
Sire Nihonin has nothing to worry about - I am sticking with the original Asian inspired dojo where those of us Jedi Masters of the Universe (and others) can exist here and not feel pressure to be something or commit something we are simply unable to do.
BTW -
I had an EXCELLENT review process over the last few days - first from the review committee and then a document filled in by my supervising professor basically stating that I am doing research he considers important and worthwhile to the area of Jacobite history - although I do need a bit more paeleography. I hated that class...
When all my finances are straightened out sometime in July, my first trip is to the National Library in Edinburgh and probably the archives also. Prior to that, here, I have research to do in the special archives. It will be time to get back to work next week when monsta starts his RIG training.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So that sums it up...finally a SIRE. Wow. It is really AWESOME! :D
Not only do I need to change my calendars - bah!
BUT...I need to write in my journal so that you all aren't bored bored bored with daily existence.
Not that VR is boring - but it is nice to take a break from ratings every once in a while, eh?
Will post more soon...promise!
