"SOMETHING CLOSE TO PANIC"

02:37 Jun 24 2010
Times Read: 660

Lillies beg to go to bed indoors for a nap and to play dead,

A shadow of mercy bending at my feet

Fuck, Laugh, Kiss, Cry and smile each time we meet

That girl looks a little bit like you

BUT she doesn't talk about the things that you do

Roses bleed all over pages and cry

Leaving me with a feeling that it will become that much harder to explain why

A cold darkness at the corner of the room over to the right -

So many different and chaotic things that happen somewhere in the middle of the night

That girl looks like you do, You both even have the same smile in a way

But the wounds get harder to heal after a while and a part of you just slips further away

The Sky, The Earth, The Fires and even the Floods become one with Gods and monsters

And the old demon who sees red and is the Prince of tricksters

I do not who she is or why you feel that we're the same

Unless she's falling apart, falling away and falling through her own name

Lillies sigh and give up as they do...They just wither after what they have to go through

Taking one more panic breath before they cross over and haunt somebody like you

I dont know who this girl is or what letter starts her name

But im without a doubt confident that we aren't anywhere near the same...

Read, re-read and re-re-read. Marvelous.

Strange incantation with ancient rhythm but brutal modern imagery! Lyrical yet distant! Fascinating and terrifying! Naively stubborn in rhyming and Gothic until the very bone. Suggestive and metaphorical enough to be considered one great POEm!

Thank you!

"Actions/Reactions"

08:42 Jun 08 2010
Times Read: 685

Tear her apart and leave some shreds to scatter as the wind carries those parts of her away

Put your claws into her and rip apart whats left of that until she doesn't even trust enough in God to want to pray

She'll drown

She'll hear laughter

She'll die

She come back, after

Tell her that she's adorable on some afternoon in late May

That she's something beyond precious and with you, she's got to stay

Tell her that you looked out for her when you never even knew her name

That she's forever changed the way you looked at things in your life, That those things could never be the same...

She'll scream

She'll pack a bag in the middle of the night

She'll look over her shoulder

She'll never confess what wasn't right

She had the front room for a time that overlooked the street from that old house that they stayed

And in the summer when the windows were open, she could hear every engine coming from every enemy he ever made

She'd feel the gentle breeze roll in past the velvet curtains as her naked body cooled down and tried to rest

Awakened suddenly by the sound of several engines and his commands to lock the door, hide and find something that was the sharpest...

She'll feel her heart race

Before she see's an unfamiliar face

She'll wish to god she wasn't there

Before she becomes fed up and before she doesn't care...

"I promise you wont get hurt, and I promise you're always protected while I breathe..."He told her this with a hug and a smile, all the while she was making plans to leave

She kept thinking it could take a while..."But what if you aren't there sometime when it happens? What if im not strong enough?" she nervously said

His reply, "Quit worrying so much already, here's a Xanax, relax, lay down and try to go to bed."

She'll feel nothing for a few hours

She'll hear thunder in the distant desert showers

Awake to something she never before imagined

She'll take a deep breath and wish she would have had her head examined...

A stranger made a fist and turned that shade of red

She was already pretty badly bruised, already wished she was dead

That stranger kept on swearing and kept on being what he thought was tough

She was pissed off, spitting out her own blood, She'd already tapped out and screamed she'd had enough...

After everything started to settle down and things had finally started to heal

Nothing was special enough, every bond was broken and life there lost it's appeal

She's already on her way

One more minute was too long to have to stay

She left every single thing she had behind

Somehow lucky enough to have a new life where she'd be sort of fine...

She took a deep breath, tried to focus, steady her hands and just stay strong

And the last thing she wrote at the bottom of the wallboard she had

"Down in the dirt where I onced belonged, but if I remain here it won't be long..."

She'll have nobody

Nobody she can see

She'll have her life alone

Alone in her thoughts and actions

But alone is safe for all eternity...

What's your name?

Say it again

What's your name?

Because it never sounds the same...

Wonderful - both a poem and story in one. Terrific job here.
