Time of Eternity
CHAPTER 1:
The Beginning
It was in 1683 when my life changed. I used to be a homeless teen living on the streets of London. But then it all changed. Something happened that would change my life forever….and I mean Forever.
It was on a rainy night. A young man came to me and introduced him self as Shantoun. He offered me shelter for the night. I accepted with out hesitation, but I never even noticed his cold, non-human eyes, for the rain was blurring my own.
When we arrived at him “home” it turned out to be no more than a mausoleum. But before I could turn away or ask him what was going on I was staring into his cold shadowed eyes, with the fear of death whispering into my ear. I felt the skin brake where his “fangs” entered my vein in my neck, my blood drained from me slowly and painfully.
I cant remember what happen after that but I do remember waking in a dark room with little light, and that light was from a small candle in the corner of the room.
There was a black blanket over the window, I reached for it, but a heard a voice tell me to stop. “I don’t think you would want to do that my child.” Said the voice. I didn’t move but ask “Why not?”. “Well the sun light burns those who are new borns into our race.” He said stepping close, my eyes had adjusted to the darkness and I could now make out the figure of a young man standing before me. “What do you mean ‘new borns’ and of what race?” I said trying to keep the fear out of my voice. “I sired you my child. You are now a Vampire, a creature of the night. You walk among the living-dead… no longer breathing in the human world.” Shantoun said to me. I could now se his face for I could see ever thing now that I knew.
I refused to accept the thought that I was the living-dead. But when I left the house a few nights later, I figured that I should see the world through the eyes of night. I had burns up my left arm, for I had found out about the “Sun burning the new borns” the hard way. And I walked into the cold yet welcoming night with a new out look on life.
CHAPTER 2:
Blood Thirst
I walked the streets at night looking around me. Seeing what I had never seen before. Every time I looked at a so-called “Human” I had a craving, or a sensation to kill, to feed. At first I didn’t understand what I wanted but I would find out soon enough.
I found Shantoun sitting on the park bench. He looked different from the night before. Last night he looked like a kind gentleman, but now he was wearing black jeans and a black muscle shirt. I stopped and looked at him. He smiled at me, and when he did I saw his razor sharp fangs hiding on the corners of his lips. These confuse me, but I ran my tongue over my teeth and found the same in my mouth. I was in shock, I thought about what he had said a few nights earlier. And it all made scene.
A young lady walked past us both, we looked at her with a craving look in our eyes. I heard Shantuon’s voice in my head saying, “Feed. It is your destiny.” Before I knew it the girl was laying on the ground in front of my, drained of her own blood. The taste was thick and sweet. I didn’t know what happened but I wasn’t about to let it stop.
My eyes were jumping from shadow to shadow, look for more. But my thoughts were interrupted by his touch on my shoulders. “You liked it didn’t you? You are searching for more. You will soon accept the fact that we are the Hunters and humans are our prey.”. “No, this cant be.” I jerked around to face him only to see this smile and know that it is true. “You know what you are. You will soon be stronger than us all. You have a great power about you, but we will be together till the very end of time its self.” he whispered in my ear, and then walked away slowly. He left me standing there with the girls’ body at my feet. I could help but to feel lost, and I thought I would never under stand what he meant. I hunted ever second night for the next year. I tried to under stand his words.
CHAPTER 3:
Them
It had been two years when I went out to hunt and found Shantoun sitting on my steps. He stood quickly and look at me hungrily. “Hello my love. It has been a long time sense our last seeing of each other.” He told me as he put his arms around me. “Yes and what do you want??” I snapped not sure of his plan “I was going to take you some where…some where, where you can meet more of our kind.” his smile widened. “Where at??” I asked quickly, my excitement was growing. I had only know him, the thought of knowing more of my kind would be interesting.
After walking half way through the city, we stopped at what looked to be an abandon building. “Why are we here?” I asked in a confused voice. “Just watch.” He told me. When he opened the door the was a large number of vamps dancing to some rock band in the dark, or what seemed dark to humans. Vamps night vision is fifty times better the average human so we saw perfectly in the shadows of night.
We walked in and every one slowed down and looked at me. I was starting to worry when Shantoun explained to me “They can feel you power. They know you are stronger than them.” “What? How can I be stronger I am more than likely the newest to their realm.” I asked quietly. “Yes but you were stronger than them before you were even born into this world. You are heir to be Leader of our lands.” He told me with a smile so big that it showed his fangs completely. I stopped and looked at him with a dumbfounded look upon my face. “You mean that I am suppose to lead the entire race of vampires?? I can’t do that! I can could hardly be class president in the human world!” I said trying to remain calm. “Of course you can my child. For it has been prophesied many times in my life and I am over four-hundred years of age.” He told my with out changing the look on his face.
I went to that place many time over the next year. I found my self being admired by many others. I didn’t not brag for I was still learning and finding out what my powers were.
CHAPTER 4:
Gifted
I had been sitting on my bed on day, awaiting the sunset to hunt when it happened. I closed my eyes and focused. With out my knowing I had rearranged my room with on thought. When I opened eyes, I was amazed of what I had accomplished. That is when it started. I did not hunt that night. I stayed in the shelter of my single room apartment working on my “Gift”.
I discovered many things over the next couple of nights. I could read minds, maneuver peoples thoughts (including my kin). I could also move things with my mind and use my mind to accomplish the impossible.
The next night I went walk about. I walk through the main part of town searching. Searching for a being to test my thoughts on, literally. When young man walk past me, I thought it would be fun to tease him.
I told him in his mind, “Good day sir. Don’t turn around or you will find nothing of your pleasure.” He ignored the thought and turned any way. “Bad idea there laddy. For you have sealed your very own fate.” I said in a sly, teasing voice. “Who is there??” he yelled. I was shocked at the matter. I had thought that I shouldn’t be seen by my victim, there for I had made my self invisible. I smiled at the thought that I could make my self unseen and seen when I wanted.
I appeared before him in the blink of and eye. He jumped. I could resist teasing and taunting him even more. “What. Did I scare you?” I said as I vanished again. I appeared behind him and ran my hand down his back. I laughed as he jumped. My laughed echoed through the park with a supernatural sounding. I dissolved into the shadow once again. The sound of his heart pounding filled my ears. My smile grew. I had to do it I had to end it all right then and there.
His blood was thick and strong. But he had something about him that made me want to let him live. So instead of taking his life completely away, I changed it. He drank unwillingly from me. When he woke again he had want through the same transition I had only a few years before.
When he awake I was sitting across the room with my arm crossed over my chest and with a slinky smile I stood. “’Bout time you woke up.” I told him slyly as o approached him. He asked the same questions I did when I awake in his situation. I answered him the same way Shantoun had answered me. I had truly became one of them. There was no turning back now. For I had sire on with my blood. And I had now started my own line of life, or death.
CHAPTER 5:
Blood to Blood
The next might I took the boy I sired out to show him our world. How to hunt and everything I had to learn. He seemed to like his “New Life” more than I did. But I like to see the anticipation that I never had in some one else.
We walked down Main Street looking for a soul to feed on… or for him to feed that is. I was still woozy and not hungry from him, blood rush still holding me tight. As soon as he learned what he needed he left me standing on my own steps, looking for something to do.
But when I walked through the door to my room, I felt an aura of some one I knew. I closed my eyes and then spoke. “What do you want Shantoun?” He seemed surprise that I knew it was him. “I need to talk to you.” He told my. It sounded as if he was trying to keep a large amount of fear from his voice. “Well then… speak.” I told him, I had started to loose patients with him pacing across my room. I wanted to sleep, but it was starting to look as if I wasn’t going to get any. “You need to be careful.” He said. “Why, may I ask?” I replied, shocked by the statement that he just made. He pointed to my bed, and there laid a rose. Now not just any rose, its dark red petals were swirled with black. It looked as if some one had carefully painted it to look majestic, seductive. But this was no work of art, it as a gift of blood from one Leader to arriving other.
“He wants to see you as soon as possible Ashikah.” Shantoun told me. I was shocked. It was the first time any one knew or called me by my first name. “What? Who and why did you call me by my name?? What is going on?” I told him starting to think more than I should. “I just don’t want you to get hurt.” He told me. I looked at him, I couldn’t believe he, just told me he cared. He started in again, “I will stand behind you every step of the way. I… I… I love you.” I was dumbfounded, could this really be happening? All I knew was that I was summoned to the Mausoleum of Living Shadows. And to know that I had to read the mind of the man who just told me that he loved me. How could I miss something like that, something so powerful?
Later the next might, Shantoun and I walked in silence towards the other side of town. Finally he spoke softly, “I didn’t mean to catch you so off guard last night. I knew you were shocked but I needed you to know. That is really the only reason I sired you. I wanted you to be with me forever.” I stopped and looked him in the eye, “Really?” I said. Yea.” He told me and reached out to brush the hair that had fallen onto the side on my face. I smiled, and that was the first time I had smiled for the last couple of years.
When we reached our destination, I had understood what I had to do. I had been brought here to be spoken to for being about being heir of Leaders. As we entered the place that looked more like a castle than anything else, I felt a very strong presents. Though I didn’t know what it was from, I tried my best to show no fear.
I took a step forward to find some one intruded my mind, “Welcome to my home. Please come in, for we have important matters to over look.” I jumped at that voice. I had realized what I had to do. I couldn’t loose this fight… not even if my undead life depended on it. I showed no fear as we stepped trough those towering doors. Shantoun looked at me and smiled, he had realized the change in my aura. There was no turning back and I didn’t want to turn back even if I had to.
**
“Hello my child. Welcome Shantoun. Now Ashikah, do you know why you are here?” a man that looked no older than me walk from the shadows. I followed my instincts, “Yes and why do you want me gone from this life time?” I told him. “Good, good. Then you do know.” He laughed wickedly. Shantoun shot a glance at me, then and there he knew what ever thing was about. I was going to have to fight the Leader of our kind. If I lost then I would never be seen again, but if I won… I would take his place and the head of our kin. I would rule with the one I chose to be beside my.
I reached out with my mind, “Don’t worry Shantoun, I know what I am doing… And I chose you to be by my side.” He looked at me and smiled the best he could.
The young man swung at me, but I ducked and his hit. “Missed me” I teased. I through a punch and came in contacted with his gut. He stood quickly to face me shocked at my movements. I laughed wickedly, it echoed down the large halls lingering long after I had finished.
He reached out with his mind trying to strike my mind with longing blows, but he failed for I had my mind walled up. “Leave now…” he snapped at me. “Oh really? Why? Cause you cant beat me? I will give you more time to ‘Train’ and get all-toughed up. You are not ready for something you brought upon your self. Good Night… Sir.” I told him mocking his every move.
I looked at the bloodstain on my hand, then took Shantouns’ hand and vanished into the cool night air.
CHAPTER 6:
Loved
That day, Shantoun stayed with me. We talked and he tried to explain to my why he fell for me. That was a good day.
When night fell we wen for a long walk and hunted but found feeding wasn't what was on our minds.
We walk a few more hours and waited till it was close to sunrise before we started back to my place. When we got there he asked me a question that made me think, “Would you really like me to rule by your side… can I be your one and only?” he asked. I didn’t reply right away, I wanted to but I could think. I didn’t know how much I really cared for him. I finally answered, “Yes, yes I would” I hesitated, “ and I would like to be your one and only.” I smiled at him.
