Dream a little Dream

He sat at his keyboard loathing this as he thought about what to write
"I'm not here to Impress anyone I'm just here to see what nibbles" he mumbled over his cold coffee cup. His Cat gave him that "Yeah Right Who Ya Trying To Kid" look as she groomed her out-stretched hind leg, then gave him the look of oh my god privacy?
"You know it's just been us, you and me for 8 years but I kinda want to find someone..you know the one from the dream ..yeah that one ..who lives in that cottage on the beach...would be nice
but what do I know right?" he said to the cat who stood up stretched and showed him her butt and wandered off to knock something off a shelf..gravity like patience has to be tested and often. he took a slug of ice-cold bitter black coffee and thought "yeah cold and bitter just like my life"I should check with my writers on STITCH to see if anyone came up with a new story, and to find out where our star writer Rutie had gone" Ruthie was in her mid 60's and was like an older sister who wrote really good cowboy stories the group all loved and just like that she disappeared...He felt lost ..she always critiqued his stories and gave him advice on his writing..the bar wasn't the same without her
Ron came back and like usual he fed the jukebox with coins and played the best songs
I offered to give him the keys to the box so he could save his quarters he just waved it off...
Sadie barked and brought him to reality she needed to go out
his chocolate lab and his tortoiseshell calico Scottish fold were all the kids he needed .. and this big baby needed out
so he slipped on his shoes w opened the door the crisp autumn air caressed his skin just like she did in the dreams
his stories revolved around dreams .inspired by Niel Gamens Sandman and the narration also pushed him to write
but these days something was lacking. That spark ...he just couldn't put a finger on it
Off in another world along the Beaches of Sandiego she was walking her silver lab and stopped to watch a shooting star ark into the horizon of the pacific without a splash or a sound it sank to the depths of the sea
she sighed and stared off into the moonlight beyond the stars and asked the universe"Where Are You ? When Will You come home? I Miss You so much" a tear rand down her heart-shaped face and fell away from the soft curve of her chin..back on the farm he felt a raindrop land on his cheek but there are no clouds in the skies this night only stars......Dwayne Kittle 031223

Thank you for sharing your intriguing piece of writing with me. I was struck by the melancholic atmosphere and the sense of longing conveyed throughout the piece. Your protagonist's internal monologue captures the sense of isolation and frustration many of us feel in our daily lives.

The way you've portrayed the cat, his only companion for eight years, is particularly poignant. It speaks to the idea that even when we have company, we can still feel lonely and disconnected. The cat's dismissal of his longing for companionship is a powerful reminder that we are ultimately responsible for our own happiness.

The disappearance of the star writer Ruthie and the protagonist's sense of loss add further depth to the story. It speaks to the idea that even in a community, we can still feel alone and disconnected. It highlights how important it is to have companionship and a sense of belonging, especially in a creative community.

The way you've used dreams and the Sandman inspiration to drive the protagonist's writing is clever and intriguing. It speaks to the idea that our subconscious, our dreams, and our imaginings can be powerful sources of inspiration.

Finally, the contrasting scenes of the protagonist in his farm and the otherworldly moonlit beach add an additional layer of mystery and intrigue. It speaks to the sense of disconnection from reality that many creative people experience and the longing for something beyond our current circumstances.

Overall, your writing is captivating and thought-provoking, and I look forward to reading more of your work.
