Chapter 1

It was a dark and stormy night, the wind howled as it forced itself past the thick brown branches. The leaves shook nervously as the lightning light the streets making the city seem like twilight. The paved streets were not as busy as normal; the buildings smelt like sweat of rain dampened them rotted the immortal senses. Deep within the city where the cemetery rest layer a dark figure on top of the marble tomb of a black and gold mausoleum. All you can see are the pure white hands on either side like all hope was forever lost.
“You would think I would lay here and die, old Vampyre. Where is your fight? The passion you once held.” Kevin murmured to himself.
Silence swept over him, her death was a sickness he wished he could take. As Kevin laid wanting death his eyes rolled back and his mind wondered. “You do know you should watch where you are going?” Kevin said looking at the beauty before him.
“I don’t think I know you.” Leena said before realizing she was standing on a dragon.
As the memory fades Kevin pulls himself off the marble tomb and heads for Leena’s mansion. With each step all he could think about was Leena. Moments later when he reached an old hotel two young women out on business approached him.
“Ha baby, want a good time?” the blonde said touching Kevin’s arm. But Kevin never looked up at her his mind was still on his princess.
“I know what you want, here you go baby.” The dark haired woman said has she rubbed on his cock through his black jeans.
Kevin could feel his fangs on the tip of his tongue; the temptation was interesting. After a while he brought both women closer to him. “Why don’t you ladies leave before I give you something you can’t handle?” Kevin asked as he raised his head.
The two women rolled their eyes and walked off. Kevin calmed himself again yearning for Leena. He looks up and noticed another storm approaching.
Downtown by the city park just set off in an urban community a shadow of a person came out of a nearby building. The shadows was a small figure of an old man wearing work mining clothes moth eaten. His shoes was dusty from the rubble and ash. The old man slowly walked down the street through the light fog that started forming on the road.
The old man held his umbrella tight hoping that the rain wouldn’t pick up. He looks up and sighs as he tries to hurry down the street to his apartment. In the sky the clouds thickened and darkened in color. Bright orange light shown through the clouds in patches threating the sign of a tornado approaching.

Still across town as the old man climbed the steps to his building. A loud thunder sound cracked to where is almost made the ground quake. Before he could place his hand on the right side of his head it was too late. The old man fell without a sound and rolled a step or two. he stopped blood covered the steps and some brain matter spilled out. A nearby neighbor about seventy-two was getting ready to take her cocker spaniel out for a walk when she noticed her dog licking the old man’s blood.
“Stop that Lucy, bad dog!” she cried before taking out her cell phone from her bra.
“Hello, this is Hell City Police Department, my name is Rachel your operator tonight. How may I help you?”
“Yes, I want to report that my neighbor is hurt really bad.”
“Where is your neighbor hurt ma’am?”
“I’m not sure there is a lot of blood.”
“Is your neighbor still breathing?”
“I…..I don’t know.” She starts weeping.
“Try to stay calm.”
“Okay.”
“Now where are you at ma’am?”
“At the apartments for older living.”
“Alright, now I am going to dispatch any police in your area; please stay on the line,” the operator paused. “Calling for any patrol cars in the area I have a body turn up at the apartments for older living; copy?”
“This is 5 19 over?” a rookie officer answered.
Quietly “State your location 5 19.”
“I am about four blocks from those apartments.”
The patrol car drove over to the older living and noticed a small group of reporters starting together. After a while when a few more police cars pulled up the rookie police officer started to tape off the crime scene as the small group became larger with citizens mixed in. The young officer puts the rest of the blocking tape up and proceeds to pull out his cell phone from his pants’ right side front pocket.

Chapter 2
Kevin wakes to the faint sound of his phone. As he went to stretch a few beams of sun light grazed his bear arm. He bares his fangs and hisses; the very thought to be constantly reminded that he wasn’t human was irritating. The continuous ringing in Kevin’s ears was also annoying. He walks downstairs fully dressed, grabs his phone and keys, and walks out the door.
“Hello?” Kevin answered half curious and half asleep.
“Detective Kevin, sir?” a young man stuttered.
“Do you have any idea how early it is?” Kevin asked firmly.
“Yes sir, it’s about two o’clock in the afternoon.” the man answered softly.
“There has better be blood.”
“Yes sir, there is a lot of blood.”
Before the young male officer could put his phone away a loud sound was close to the crowd. It sounded like thunder, when the sports car roared into a parking spot. Kevin steps out of his car wearing skin tight black jeans, black steel toed boots, and a black silk long sleeve shirt partly buttoned.
As many of the other forensic officers on duty take pictures, dust for prints, and collect as much evidence as they can Kevin walks closer to the body. His eyes darkened soon everything seems to be frozen. Not even the wind disturbs his work. For just a spilt second no one is around him. Flashes form as Kevin inhales taking not only the air, but whatever powered fragments there might be from the gun. There was no need to go deeper than that. The wound was a clean shot to the head just behind the right ear. There wasn’t any other bodies left behind so he didn’t have to separate the victim’s blood. Kevin’s eyes turned red slightly and the flashes got brighter like an automatic camera was set to repeat action; as he re-pieced the bullet used back together. He had as much fun ruining the suspect’s plans as he did finding out how much blood poured out of most of the victims found. Kevin turns in the direction the bullet came from and his eyes went back to normal.
“What did you fined Detective?” A young female police office asked.
“Your late again Dona.” An older man added in a three piece suit.
“I know sorry captain.” Dona replied.
“What makes you think I found anything Dona?” Kevin asked with an eyebrow raised.
“Because your eyes where so focus and they were two different colors.”
“I told you before that my contact lens changes colors based on my mood.”
“Whatever Detective; then you will tell me that your fake teeth lengthen with your mood too.” Dona smirked
Dona gasps as Kevin invades her personal space. She didn’t even see him move. He leans closer to her as her heart race.
“What are you implying Dona?” Kevin whispers.”
“Nothing Detective.” Dona replied trying to catch her breath.
Kevin grins to himself and walks off, “Have those pictures ready for me, Lay them on my desk with the other reports from the scene.”
“Yes, Sir.
A few screams came from the enlarged crowd as Kevin unlocked his car. He moved like a soft breeze so that the herd of reporters wouldn’t want a face to face meeting with him. As he turns the key the car roars loud again making people jump and cover their ears. Dona watches Kevin smile at her still showing a little of his “fake” fangs, as she calls it, at her.
By the time Kevin drove to the office. Picked up the case reporters, and drove back home he was hungry again. The hot Sun had finally went down and the air got cool. Since the two parts blood one parts coffee he had for breakfast just wasn’t enough. Just five blocks from the mission Kevin decides to make a pit stop to the coroner’s place.
“Good evening doctor.” Kevin said standing right behind him.
“Holy Christ! Detective you keep this up and one of us is going to have a heart attack.” A middle-age man replied wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, lab coat and flip-flops.
“My apologies doctor.”
“No worries; you don’t look so good.
“I had a long afternoon.”
“There is something in the back if you’re thirsty?”
Kevin didn’t waste any time past the body lying on the slab from this afternoon. He opened the door to the large freezer, and notices the cooler labeled reserved. After he opens the cooler he grabs a couple of A positive blood before leaving the freezer.
“You do know that type O would probably last you longer.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
The coroner turns on a small type recorder and starts his work,” The decease is an old male Caucasian; his weight and height is approximately a hundred and thirty five pounds and about five foot eight, the decease has mild bruising around the wounded area, this indicates that the decrease was shot from a distance. It also tells me that this was a surprise attack on the decease.
Kevin taps on the recorder as he sips on the package of blood had just opened; I think you need a new recorder doctor.”
“Shit! Thanks detective.”
“ At least you write it all down.” Kevin replied as he walked out of the room and heads back down stairs.
The building was as quite as when he arrived. Once again Kevin presence becomes like mist as he notices other workers out arriving for the night shift. Kevin pulls out his keys and pops open his car truck. Carefully he places the bags of blood supply in a special cooler to keep humans from asking to many questions he really didn’t feel like answering. While in his car Kevin opened the case file and the black note book. He thought by now he should at least have a note book of his own so he starts the car, and makes one more last stop to the store.
Vampires don’t need anything; they roam through life with what they have. Kevin existed this way since the beginning of time. Yet he missed her, and since Leena wasn’t around right now to live her so called human path then he will have to make the most of it. Man, did he wish she was here. Even through a vampire’s word is burned by blood. He only wished he knew how humans lived. Kevin wouldn’t dare ask Dona, She would say I just knew you weren’t human. Just the very thought made him chuckle to himself.
As he stopped at the store he heard a familiar voice.
“Detective, Detective!” a woman’s echoed four cars down.
“What is it now Dona?” Kevin whispered the question in her ear.
Dona jumps nearly out of her skin,” Why do you always do that?”
Kevin gives her a warm smile.” You didn’t answer me.”
Dona relaxed her face a little still shaking slightly. “Well, I wanted to know if you looked at the information you wanted yet?”
“No,” he said flat out,” I needed a new note book first.”
“Oh, well let me know.”
Kevin signed a little before entering the store. As the electric doors opened he scanned the entre store. With only one step Kevin now stood right where he wanted to be. Quickly as humanly possible he grabs a three subject black spiral note book and several pens.
Dona stands by her car for a while and decides to go back in the store. When she walks in she spots Kevin waiting in the checkout line with a couple of people in front of him. Dona walks over to the checkout and laughs under her breath.
“What is so funny?” Kevin spoke without looking at her.
“Nothing really.” Dona answers firmly.
“I thought you were going home Detective?”
“I was …. But then I wanted to make sure you found everything you need Kevin.”
“I did thank you.”
Kevin was up next and he watched the cashier ring up all of his stuff with grace. After the young cashier bagged the items she noticed that Kevin was staring at her. For a brief moment she fought not to make eye contact.
“That would be five dollar, sir.”
After Kevin paid for his new things, he walked to his car, and slowly pulled out of the parking lot. Kevin drove quietly down a few blocks and made it into the garage of the mansion just before sun rise. Acting human was harder than he thought as he took another bag of blood out of the cooler. About half way through finishing the bag of blood Kevin decided to take the cooler in the mansion for safe keeping.
In the living room everything was just as Leena left it. It was funny that Kevin would materialize near her, yet just walking around the mansion now he gets lost on occasion. By the long half circular couch was an antique end table made of high class wood and stained blood red. Kevin placed the cooler on the end table since he cursed the cooler to always stay ninety-eight point six degrees and still keep the blood fresh. On the coffee table he set out the new black notebook, Leena’s notebook, and the case file of the recent victim.
According to Leena’s notebook it was set up as:
Name:
Race:
Age:
Job:
Cause of death:
Last place seen:
Location of body:
Murder weapon:
Witness (s):
Coroner’s report:
Questions-
Who:
What:
When:
Where:
Why:
How:
Kevin caught on quick that the additional questions was for the murder. He glances at the yellow folder and opens it. Then he opens his new notebook. There wasn’t much that Kevin knew and some of that was going to be hard to explain to Dona, so he just filled in some basic information. He knew:
Name: Larry West
Age: Looks to be seventy
Weight:
Height:
Place found: 992 Dried Organs’ Apartments
Cause of death: Gunshot to the head.
With the pen laid down he stretched the length of the couch soon Kevin fell asleep as the sun brought dawn.

Chapter 3
The night air was sweeten by the fragrance of fresh blood. Off in the distance was a beautiful female covered in ash and hatred. Approach with caution was written on her facial expression. She was the only marvel as young Kevin’s eyes looked on at a changing world. He was out casted by death; thrown from the ride of chaos which he created. Now a new over whelming feeling fills him. Back before the kingdom of gods; no powers were forged; the only mortals weren’t human but, immortal beings without magic was all Kevin fed on. He would have wished for humans if there was any as he gazed at her.
The living room slowly felled with a light fog as Kevin went into a deeper sleep. His body starts to harden as a slight breeze brush his skin. In his heart he wished it was Leena but, he knew this touch from before. There was darker enemies from his past further back in time more ancient than just his second time in Egypt.
Dona had a bad feeling when she left Kevin. Something told her to go check in on him, yet she decides to call first. She takes out her phone and dials Kevin’s number; no one answers after fifteen rings. Dona hangs up kind of worried and heads back out of the department towards her car.
Okay, Kevin thinks to himself as he walks closer to the woman. The sweet scent of her skin was just as he remembered it. “Lilith” her name danced teasingly in his mind. Kevin knew this can’t be real Lilith died betraying him. The memory of it made him smile after all these years he still takes pleasure in executions by his own hand.
The female presence has an aura that would chill the room. Soon enough the aura of the presence jumps to the sound of the evening news. Dona banged hard on the door, still Kevin wouldn’t wake. It never took him this long to answer. Then the sounds of the television got that much louder.
“GOOD EVENING, HELL CITY, THIS IS SUN SHINE NEWS!” crystal’s voice yells through the television’s speakers.
Dona jimmy the lock and finds Kevin asleep on the couch. She grabs the remote trying not to wake him. As she turns the volume down on the television Kevin grabs Dona’s hand and slams her against the wall raising her off the floor.
“How did you get in here?” Kevin’s words hissed in her neck as his black eyes got darker almost hollow.
“I jimmied your lock!” Dona answered shaking.
“Why?”
“Because you don’t know how to answer your phone.”
Kevin let her go and realized he let his true side show, “I’m sorry Dona.” then he flashes across the room.
“You weren’t really going to kill me right?”
“Of course not.”
Dona had that look in her eyes, the one that said “I knew it”, but she just stared at him. Kevin had calmed himself down even though his eyes were still black. He was working on finding his surrounds then his phone rings.
"Detective?”
“Hello doctor what’s wrong?”
“I finished my work on that body that was brought in yesterday.”
“Good, what did you find?”
“The victim is a hundred and fifty five pounds.”
“Go on.”
“He is concession, with a height of five-nine.”
“Kevin, I found were the victim worked.” Dona added.
“Well? Where did Larry West work as?” Kevin ask being as human as he possibly can.
“Mr. West was a financial executive Manatrater ?”
“Who would want to kill off an exectutive manatrer?” Dan asked confussed.
Kevin held a finger up,” Keep me posted doctor.”
“Alright Detective.” The doctor replied then hung up.
Without Dona realizing it Kevin had his keys in hand. He gently pushed Dona back out of the mansion before unlocking his car. Soon he had the car warming up waiting on Dona who he knew just had to tag along.
“Coming Detective Dona?”
“Of course.” She answered as she grabbed her lab top and locked up her car.
As Dona got into the car she tries not to look at Kevin. Kevin waits for her to buckle up so they can get moving. A little while later Dona pushed herself away from the center of the seat she is sitting in.
“Is there something wrong?”
“Why would you ask that Kevin?”
“I told you I was sorry Dona.” Kevin sighed and stopped the car.
“How long?” Dona asked half curious and half scared.
“How long what?”
“How long have you been living?”
“I haven’t lied I just didn’t say anything.”
“Same difference.” Dona straighten herself in the seat as Kevin restarted the car.
“You’re not going to let this go, are you?”
“I will for now we have work to do.”
Outside of the Federal Beau of banks was crowded with reports. A middle-age woman slowly makes her way down the long steps to the second flat surface. The crowd became silent as they waited for the woman speak.
“Ladies and Gentleman, as the President of Federal Beau of Banks; I am here to say we will deadly miss our fallen comrade. His work here won’t be easy to replace. I am deeply sorry there will be no further questions.”
As everyone was waiting impatiently for the head forensic team a grey box van that had Devil dream news printed on it. Inside the van was a young figure that appeared to be putting on lipstick while looking through the review mirror searching for something.
