Lioness and Panther

The tawny yellow Lioness was laying
Contentedly on a rock - enjoying sunshine's strength.
The sun moved behind a mountain
And the shadows grew in length.
The shadows crept slowly to the bottom
Of the Lion's sunning place,
And in them snuck a Panther;
A look of stone upon his face.
In an instant their eyes locked -
Green gazes both lost in awe
For in each other's haunted stare
A mirror of their own pain they saw.
She in sun, He in shadow;
Together they lay curled.
They found joy within each other,
And forgot about the world.
All pasts were forgiven,
And the future yet unknown
They only saw each other
And the trust that had grown.
As day faded to night
They kept each other warm
They dreamed of new beginnings,
And purred through midnight's storms.
The winds and rain did not wake them -
They kept each other safe.
Each felt secure in the other,
And held tight in their embrace.
At dawn the next morning
The Lioness awoke with fear -
For her friend and all he offered
Was to be found nowhere near.
Used to his Darkness ways,
He had grown shy of the Light
And when she least expected,
He had fled in silent flight.
She lamented this new loss,
For she knew that they were right!
He had helped her through her silent terror -
For she had feared the night!
Lion wanted to show this Panther
The beauty of the day;
But somehow dark hath lured him
And now he's gone away.
The Lioness returns to her ledge,
Her coat has lost it's gleam.
And in her hollow eyes-
A lonely silent scream.
She stares at the dark shadows
Hoping they will bring him soon
For if he does not return
No time will heal her wounds.
So if somewherein the shadows
A lonely Panther steals
Please come back to Lion soon,
She knows how you feel.
Two desperate lonely hearts
Cannot survive alone and frightened,
But together they stand a chance
And in friendship become enlightened.

Grains of Sand still time from motion,
As Moon rays pierce the cloud shadows,
An excellent, endless moonlit night
for the hunter..,
As her prey, no man is safe tonight.
She moves effortlessly
Transformed as the panther,
ultimate hunter,
Grace, and pride, confident in her eventual conquest,
She seeks fulfillment
of her eternal hunger
so deadly, her bite,
No man is safe tonight.
She, the supreme night hunter enjoying the sport of the stalk,
Her weapon of choice tonight,
An innocent smile,
As she checks her reflection in the moon lit pond, reviewing the game face….
She hunts me too, just for the sport of it,
I am fast, smart, and agile, in my own coyness….
But like all prey, running frightened..
I make the fatal mistake,
And now I am turned over,
belly up, surrendering to the supreme hunter, as
the Mouse waits for the cat to eat him
Oh yes, I too have been caught
I am now the cats’ toy,
To be put away for another nights’ dinner.
For the panther is always hungry.

The jungle breathes on padded paws
prowling low and near,
The eyes bestow what he seeks
piercing green and clear.
Into the shadows he will blend
within stelthy black,
On razor's edge he claws his claim
splintering at back.
The night drops quick as
fangs will slip deeper as they go,
Such paralyzing beauty
of his glare now is aglow...

Can You See the Pride in the Panther

Can You See the Pride In the Panther
As he grows in splendor and grace
Topling obstacles placed in the way,
of the progression of his race.
Can You See the Pride In the Panther
as she nurtures her young all alone
The seed must grow regardless
of the fact that it is planted in stone.
Can You See the Pride In the Panthers
as they unify as one.
The flower blooms with brilliance,
and outshines the rays of the sun.
