...just been to the doctors

13:05 Oct 30 2006
Times Read: 1,171

...just been to the doctors ...and it turns out the antiinflammatory I have discovered is so useful is not recommended now. Blinkin typical, I find something that works, so I'm not taking too many painkillers and I'm discouraged from taking them.

not fair... saying that.the painkiller I've been given now, is the one I was taken off, about two years ago ...go figure!

trains queues and jealousy

21:27 Oct 25 2006
Times Read: 1,181

I was reading the Bebington News, our local freebie newspaper and I saw a photo of all the queues outside James Street Station as people made their way home through the tunnels and back onto the Wiral, from Liverpool, due to several disruptions ...and I'd looked at it with a feeling akin to and jealousy, as I recalled similar things when I was working, not so many months ago ...and for more than a few seconds, I'd wished I'd been in that queue.

just burnt my mouth

22:59 Oct 24 2006
Times Read: 1,184

just burnt my mouth on coffee. ..oh oh is it hot. and underworld 2 is playing on dvd on the other machine thats now able to ...and what do I do ...in appreciation of the fact that it can?

I moan to him that they can't play full size ...instead of appreciating the fact that right now I can watch it... swear down some people like him, the fellow who upgraded my pc, can see good in everything ...and then I come along and critisise and find its shortcomings.

I'm in disgrace with me!

My mouth hurst less, I've realised.

One shouldn't cough, smile, or burp, when drinking coffee ...a life lesson learnt.

and reality stepped in

23:33 Oct 22 2006
Times Read: 1,197

For months I’ve been looking forward to seeing a television show, ‘Torchwood’, the first series written as a tie-in to ‘Doctor Who.’

There was a one-off special though – ‘K9 and Company’.

But, for months I’ve been anticipating this show: and then I found out today that that it seems the creche worker at the place where I used to work, threw herself beneath a train at Liverpool Lime Street several months ago. She leaves a young son. I've met him ...I really liked her.

Its just weird to hear about it the way I did in conversation.

Karl, my friend, hadn't even realised that I'd known her as well as I did.

It’s taken the edge off the day, if that makes sense: hence the remark, 'I don't like reality anymore' I made earlier tonight... I mean ...I can understand depression: but to leave a young son?

....to quote someone, we can only really understand our place in the universe ...and if that wan't a quote ...it should be ...after all, on our own, we can only wring small changes in ourselves and around us ...but, we can create change.

But, its silence is persisitent.

15:22 Oct 16 2006
Times Read: 1,208

Monday

as I write this I'm acting from the heavy interview I had with the dole on Fiday, wherein you're supposed to evidence what you're doing to find work.

I've turned the back room into an office and I swear down the motherboard to the tower at the other end of the room from the laptop is making the weirdest of noises. Either that or the double glazing has muted the sounds the men are making edges the werges?

It is an either or... perhaps the noisiest USB fleash device you've ever encountered in your life.

Either way, this back room office is a comfortable hive of activity... and the humming has started up again... it wasn't the USB ...I think it is the verge being done.

...and Now I'm waiting for the phone to ring.

But, its silence is persisitent.

Sunday morning and a parade of buses

22:13 Oct 15 2006
Times Read: 1,213

And, the early morning saw me up in a large shed, freezing cold drinking black coffee as six buses were parked up for their photograph, for my friend who had phoned up the previous night, to see if it were possible.

I’d been picked up at 7:40 a.m. I time I considered obscene; in a blue thing, more plane than car; to view that scene, a little while later… and after the shoot, it was back to mine, to spend half an hour on the p.c. in photoshop, to produce, what in the past would takes hours to do in a dark room.

Just the other day, a friend called round to let me know, the film I briefly appear in, is to appear a the Leeds Film Festival, soon.

It’s called ‘Expirydate’ and information on it can be found on expirydate.co.uk

I’m only in it for a few seconds, but I’m in it!

My friend had called round to ask for my second name, to go on the credits.

But, she'd joked, don't blink, you'll miss yourself!

Broadband and I

Times Read: 1,225

Although I can only just afford broadband, I got it for VR and email, in that order.

I like VR because of the people I've met here... as simple as that.

And after all this time ...

...I've still got the addiction I had when I first came here.

Fathers and VCR

22:55 Oct 08 2006
Times Read: 1,228

This evening was spent trying to help my Father set up a channel manually on the VCR, which was frustrating, as he finds it difficult to understand... and he was getting more and more frustrated ... and raising his voice ...and I was getting stressed ...until finally he'd listened and let me help him.

It must be hard for Fathers to do that: I mean,

accept help from those whom they've always helped!

Schoolday's and bullying

15:14 Oct 05 2006
Times Read: 1,239

Today listened to a debate on a radio show about bullying.

I’d listened with interest, as I was bullied, throughout my schooldays.

The calls were fascinating and mirrored some of my own experiences. Too judge from one elder caller, I maybe have suffered from dyspraxia. To my good fortune and some professional help, from Sue Washington and other psychotherapists, in Chester, I learnt to combat it somewhat, through counselling and exercises.

So, ten out of ten to my parents.

I was borderline on the 11 plus. I was bullied at primary school and it was simply because I ‘was different.’ I’m a loner …and didn’t like sport …in hindsight, I wonder if that was down to dyspaxia …and I could go on.

I found the show fascinating and …yes, the word cathartic is appropriate, in this context.

I should add, I gained quite a few qualifications after school; and I’ve had my breaks, thanks to one or two bright individuals; who noticed ‘my potential’ when those at school, back then hadn’t.

I’ve been luckier than a lot of your callers, as I had my parent’s support, through some very trying times.

[I recall my Little Mother actually facing down a school bully, who was carrying a knife, way back in ’74 …and him backing down.]

It was with their loving support I faced the bullies and I’m lucky they were there for me.

And I know that not everyone has that support.

And, for ‘some strange reason,’ I’ve been drawn to helping others, in some fashion, throughout my working life.
