Yes, you are correct.
Chrome requires an SSL connection for webcam streaming. That is coming in the next week or so, then webcams will work in Chrome.
This includes mobile devices. The old system was totally mobile incompatible. The new system allows you to watch streams and broadcast streams right from your mobile phone.

I agree, the new site is aimed for the mobile user. I, being the one of the very few who aims not to have a mobile phone for web use of any kind (unless i borrow a phone from someone) so desktop pc's and one day, maybe a laptop for my net use. This new site is aimed for the phone users. Since sooo many are on it now a days.
I know you're very busy. take your time. I got plenty to get used to in the meantime :)

This is a good news / bad news thing.
With the SSL switch over, Cams now work on Chrome, Firefox, Windows, and Android, Desktop and Mobile. Very wide-ranging support and without Flash.
They don't work with Apple products (using Safari. I don't know if there is an apple Chrome, and if it works). If Safari updates their browser in the future at some point to utilize the protocol, it will start working.
The bad news is all the chat systems at VR are not SSL compatible. I will have to re-write them from the ground up and it is going to take some time. This affects Vamp Chat, Society Chat, Mentor Chat, Webcam Chat.

One other thing, when hosting a cam.... should i get time spent for streaming? for some reason I don't think its doing that for me. For example...... I stream a cam for 18 some minutes and my time spent doesn't seem to do the time added for that. and is that into a fix your working on?

Working on the webcams?
because this is now what I get when i just view the page
Query: SELECT * FROM `stream` WHERE `username` NOT LIKE 'channel_%' ORDER BY `viewers` DESC, `start` ASC LIMIT 0 , 11
Errno: 1054
Error: Unknown column 'viewers' in 'order clause'
Just passing the page view.
