Gothic fashion is a clothing style marked by conspicuously dark, mysterious, exotic, and complex features. It is worn by members of the Goth subculture; a dark, sometimes morbid fashion and style of dress.[1] Typical Gothic fashion includes a pale complexion with colored black hair, black lips and black clothes.[1] Both male and female goths wear dark eyeliner and dark fingernail polish. Styles are often borrowed from the Punks, Victorians and Elizabethans.[1] Goth fashion is sometimes confused with heavy metal fashion and emo fashion.
Now, why do I MasterMel2 fancy Gothic fashion. PURE rebellion again the slick disco fashion of the 70's and the overly extravagant fashions of the 80's. There's a myetrious dark beauty aspect to Gothic Fashions. nothing in my mind is more sexual than the look of a Lily Munster, Elvira or Morticia Addams characteristics. And, as an Elder Goth and Vampire, the mainstream looks really repel me as typical conspicuous consumerism.
Gothic rebels against the sheeple mentality that everyone must have this "trendy look" of a fashion model. Gothic fashion dares people to open themselves to a fashion of anti-fashion. Now, this is NOT to say that being Gothic, equals being morbid and ugly. Of course not. That's ridiculous.
Goth can be elegant in a very Victorian, Steampunk, or Cybergoth point of view. It boasts it's own unique perspective on fashion by offering a legit alternative.
Won't hurt you to try something different, unless of course you're addicted to The Gap, that badly. If that's the case, I suggest counseling. *LOL*
